Loss
Gene Okerlund is here to announce the new interim commissioner and it's Roddy Piper! They copied the WWF angle from early 1996. Piper says John Belushi is now in charge of the frat house. Piper is making three changes right away: (1) Hogan vs Sting will happen before the end of the year. (That's not really a change.) (2) Hogan vs Piper will happen in a steel cage at Halloween Havoc. (3) He's taking Luger and Page out of War Games since their heads aren't on straight and he's making War Games Four Horsemen vs NWO!
Kevin Ridge
Piper is the new commissioner of WCW to fill in for Dillon. Hopefully he’s stronger than JJ. Piper brings up his resume as President of WWF which is a nice touch. Roddy says Sting versus Hogan will happen before the end of 1997. As a good authority figure he immediately signs himself into a match with Hogan at Havoc. Piper changes the members of the War Games match the week before the show by sticking the Horsemen in there. soup23
Piper is the new interim comissioner and already has three things that he has done. 1. Sting vs. Hogan will happen before the end of the year.... ok 2. Him vs. Hogan in a cage at Havoc (why?) 3. Luger/DDP are out of Wargames and Horseman are in (glad a PPV main event gets finalized in the go home segment of the PPV)
Robert S
(1) Hogan vs Sting will happen before the end of the year. (That's not really a change.) Piper actually says that Hogan vs. Sting will happen "before 1997" with Okerlund clearing up that he means before the end of 97.
El-P
Oh fuck, this is it. Piper as interim commisioner, and Age in the Cage is on the horizon. The first time was nice. The second time was redondant, goofy and useless. The third time screams booking getting all fucked up on top. The logical way to go from there would have been Flair and the Horsemen winning the Wargames than Flair vs Hogan at Havoc, then the final build to Starrcade. So yeah, the first cracks in the armor really begin to appear there. And yeah, Piper fucks up the "announcement" that Sting vs Hogan will happen *before the end of 1997*. He has way overstayed his welcome.
PeteF3
I have NO recollection of this "interim commissioner" angle but as soon as they brought it up in the Eddie-Rey match I figured it'd be Piper. Milwaukee likes it, but I'm underwhelmed. Piper had enough contractual pull not to be portrayed as weak and ineffective as Dillon was, at least. Piper still has "an open contract from last Halloween Havoc," and uses it to make a Piper/Hogan cage match at Havoc, which doesn't make much sense. He also changes WarGames. If they want to use Piper as commissioner, fine, but I have no desire to see him wrestle again, against Hogan or anybody else.
