Loss Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 No one knows anything about this Goldberg guy. This is his debut. He had the rep as a Steve Austin ripoff at the time but really, all they had in common was the bald head. It took a few months for him to really catch on, but he makes an impression with the crowd and looks like a star right away. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Goldberg don’t look like a guy who would be doing jobs. He kicks out of Hugh’s moonsault. No vignettes were used to build him up but he got a good pop for the Jackhammer and getting the win. Him and Austin were too much different characters/wrestlers. Quote

Watching this live, I thought nothing of him - could have easily been another Ron Studd, Ron Powers etc Quote
soup23 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Him kicking out of the moonsault got the crowd to wake up and they did pop for his power moves. Really amazing to think about this from a time standpoint as we are only 9 months away from 40k screaming their heads off at the guy in the Georgia Dome. It feels like in modern day that Cesaro has been elevated a good bit in the past month or so but he was still a name around SummerSlam which is the equivalent of Goldberg's timeline to stardom. Quote
El-P Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 No entrance. No hype. They sure knew what they had in their hands. The crowds already pop for the jackhammer, but no spear yet. Hugh Morrus does his usual "fat guy doing a moonsault" deal, but doesn't make Goldy look all that impressive all things considered. Quote
PeteF3 Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 I missed the big Hugh Morrus babyface turn, but he's slapping hands and actually gets a decent response considering who it is. He's facing some bald guy who raises eyebrows by kicking out of No Laughing Matter, doing a nice backflip, and then debuting the Jackhammer for the win. I think WCW, to their credit, knew what they had here. He's still raw and awkward but already has the makings of a star. Quote
