Loss Posted September 21, 2013 Author Report Posted September 21, 2013 Flair congratulates DDP on winning the U.S. title, but still says he has a score to settle with Curt Hennig. He puts over Sting and even Bret Hart for solidly siding with World Championship Wrestling. Flair points out that Bret didn't name drop him earlier and then pulls out a newspaper clipping from the Baltimore Sun where Dave Meltzer was quoted calling Ric Flair the greatest in the history of the sport without question. So, so awesome. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Flair talks about the success of Starrcade which he had nothing to do with. Ric Flair wearing reading glasses. Not cool. This reminded me of Eddie Gilbert bringing out PWI magazine rankings to put over himself. Quote
Zenjo Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Good Lord, Ric Flair reading out a Dave Melzer quote on WCW TV. The dirtsheets weren't so dirty anymore. Quote
soup23 Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 I am conflicted because this was a good promo from Flair and finally sets him up for an important feud vs. Bret. Also, history has shown the fans got behind this program as SOuled Out 98 did surprisingly good business. However, we just saw Bret throw down the challenge vs. the NWO. I know he mentioned Luger, Benoit, etc as wanting to wrestle them but he had a bonafide grudge feud ready set for him. I would have held the Flair stuff off for a few months as a bridge gap to get to Bret vs. Hogan. Quote
El-P Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Damn, that one totally eluded me ! Flair quoting Metlzer putting him over on Nitro ! Amazing ! Great little promo from Flair. An intricate booking like the one circa early 96 would have been awesome with Bret feuding both with the nWo and Flair at the same time, in a kinda tweener role. But it's 1998 coming up, sadly. Quote
PeteF3 Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 Ric Flair picks up on the fact that Bret mentioned the Giant, Luger, Sting, and Benoit...but not him. Attention to detail! Awesome. This all sounds fine and dandy as Bret's first quick program, so no complaints yet until it's spring and Bret still hasn't done anything else. Quote
Zero Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 The promo itself is great, but a Flair/Hart repeat as the first program was questionable. Who proposed this? Quote
