Last few minutes. The Godfather wins the IC title in what was considered the turning point for the belt for a lot of people. There was little heat for the match because Godfather was all entrance and post-match. I actually think he was a perfectly good opening match guy just because he could pop the crowd without being an act that was impossible to follow, but this was too high on the card for him.

Goldust drops the title clean. Where's Meanie and Goldust being reborn. This was weird.

Good god the IC belt is being passed around like a hot potato. Even though the credibility of the IC belt could be questioned before this, this is an easy bookmark in the title lineage to point to where it really became a mid card thing.

The IC title nosedives to a new low in terms of status. The Godfather was a lower midcarder. Then again they'd have a woman hold the belt before the end of the year.

This was probably my single least favorite moment of the Monday night wars as a teenager/person in college.

We come in with the crowd entertaining themselves with a "NITRO SUCKS" chant, which is the loudest they'll be for this match. I wasn't angry about this at the time, just confused. Looking back, I'm still confused, other than Russo deciding that it wouldn't be expected and therefore it should be done.
