ITT: WWE Scenarios We'd Like To See

Fantastic

Recommended Posts

I'll go first:

- Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Wrestlemania main event. Both end up destroyed from the war and the referee begins his 10 count as they struggle to get to their feet. Seth Rollins runs out, announces he's cashing in his MITB contract and entering himself into this match, - therefore it becomes a triple threat - hits the Curb Stomp on Roman Reigns and pins him 1-2-3. Seth walks out of Mania as the champion, screwing Roman out of his big moment and becoming the premier heel asshole in the company.

- Brock doesn't lose the title by actually being personally defeated, therefore he has something to go on when he returns from his inevitable post-Mania hiatius (if a UFC return doesn't happen)

- The MITB concept has some new vigor breathed into it.

- The post-Mania Raw crowd will be amazing.

- WWE shakes itself up by daring to change the landscape at Wrestlemania (the show usually ends with the face winning and having a big moment).

- Becoming the first person to cash in at Wrestlemania, and not just in the main event, but also winning the title is a historical career making moment, and something that could set up Rollins nicely for years to come.

WWE is stale and needs to spice up a lot of elements of its programming.

MITB improvements:

-Limit the attempted cash-ins. I think that will increase the drama. If the fans know Rollins only has 3 chances in the entire year to chase in then that would make for interesting drama if we see Rollins uses 2 (in stupid ways) of his cash-in attempts and finally only has one more attempt left and 7 months to go. Anything can happen.

-I think another interesting concept is that the entrants to the match must have never held the WHC. This will ensure fresh matchups all the time and FORCE WWE to push someone new at least once a year.

-A former MITB winner cannot compete in another MITB contest for one full year after his/her victory (Example: If Rollins wins in 2014- regardless of whether he is sucessful in cashing in his MITB contract- he must sit out of any and all MITB matches in 2015).

-All MITB cash-in matches are No-DQ.

-A champion that was cashed-in on and lost cannot re-match for the title until the end of 90 days. If a MITB winner cashes in and FAILS- that MITB winner cannot challenge for the WHC (in any capacity) for 90 day.*

*Again this will force WWE to get creative. Rollins can cash in on Lesnar tomorrow and WWE would run the re-match at TLC. With the 90 day rule going both ways this would force WWE to hold the match off until the EC PPV in Feb.

What else would I like to see? WWE should mix it up!

-Elimination of HIAC as a match type.

-Change the Royal Rumble to Fucking WORLD WAR THREE. Save the countdown for the last 20 entrants. These would be for big names only. Imagine the last 20 to enter are: HHH, Cena, Orton, Batista, RVD, Big Show, Mark Henry, Jericho, Bryan, etc. etc. just the big names and some surprise returns tossed in. Combining NXT and the current WWE roster- I think WWE can hit 60 and if not- fuck it! It's the Rumble. Do some one-night deals. Bring back Carlito. Bring back Paul London. Bring back The Brooklyn Brawler. This will keep the concept fresh because we would be promised at least 15-20 non-WWE regulars.

-Night of Champions should be a one night tournament for a mid-card title. This would essentially be KOTR (with qualifying matches happening on Raw, Superstars, Mainevent, and Smackdown). At the end of the show there will be no crown or throne. Just a new champion. The current champion gets a bye in qualifying for the show but must draw a number to see what bracket he will be in for the PPV. This means that the champion will not know who his opponent will be until about 23 hours before the PPV. So the champion might be in the first, second, third, or fourth match on the show. Who knows?

-With the HIAC match gone, that would mean that the PPV carrying its name will need to be changed. Why not have some fun. Bring back Halloween Havoc**. WWE wants to be PG and appeal to kids. Halloween Havoc will gurantee to sell-out period! WWE can also run a gimmick where kids who are dressed as his/her favorite WWE superstar gets a special backstage meet-and-greet with Cena, Kofi Kingston, etc. Whoever some of the top 5 babyfaces are at the time. WWE can hand out bags of candy at the front door.

** I've been thinking about the return of Halloween Havoc for some time and I feel there is still a lot unexplored by the concept. If I was in charge of Halloween Havoc 2015- I'd go with a J-Horror theme. No corny pumpkins or ghouls or any of the American staples. The entrance way would be a replica of Freddy Kruger's House from Nightmare on Elm Street. During the in-arena advertisements and 'dead time' a soft blue light will cover the crowd and some occasional 'lighting' (just flashing lights). Projection technology is also at an amazing place right now. Quince Imagining does some good stuff with The NBA and I would want that used for part of the WWE PPV opener. The refs would all have zombie face paint. I have a ton of ideas for this as you can see...I'll shut up for now.

-Hold SummerSlam in a tropical place. When was the last time WWE had a PPV in Puerto Rico? Hawaii would be a good spot. They are about 5 hours behind East Coast Time. I would avoid holding SummerSlam in The Mainland and try and give it a different feel from other PPVs even if that just really means different exterior shots, etc.

-WWE HOF is pretty stale and is becoming overly pretentious. How can WWE shake it up? Have a comedian host it. Open it up with a monologue and then go into your first speech. Maybe have a live band play the themes of the HOF inductees instead of the actual theme booming over the PA. The main inductee should have a theme song and video package dedicated to him/her and then at the ceremony that band performs the live version of the song with some highlights of the wrestler(s)'s career and then the wrestler is introduced. One final thing- Maybe 2 performances by musical acts that song can some way (even loosely) relate to an aspect of WWE. I.E. maybe Pharell Williams performs "Beautiful" with shots of the current WWE Divas on screen and Layla and Summer Rae (as they both have legit dancing backgrounds) serve as feature dancers. Maybe some like a James Blake or Sam Smith sings a song for someone who is no longer here and cannot accept the award (i.e. Macho Man, Mr. Perfect, etc.) with a nice video package playing in the back (instead of a lame speech by the wrestler(s)'s family members). I think the family member(s) should have a short 30 second speech and intro into the band dedicating the song and performance to the departed wrestler(s).

Re: MITB

I'd like to see WWE spice up a stale concept. What can be done to improve the concept without making it over gimmicky? Here are my ideas:

Limit the attempted cash-ins.

I think another interesting concept is that the entrants to the match must have never held the WHC. This will ensure fresh matchups all the time and FORCE WWE to push someone new at least once a year.

They only get one actual attempt now, so how is this different?

A former MITB winner cannot compete in another MITB contest for one full year after his/her victory (Example: If Rollins wins in 2014- regardless of whether he is sucessful in cashing in his MITB contract- he must sit out of any and all MITB matches in 2015).

Thoughts?

Why hamstring themselves? If the best and most logical match up is a rematch, why not?

What else would I like to see? Elimination of HIAC as a match type. Changing the Royal Rumble to Fucking WORLD WAR THREE. Save the countdown for the last 20 entrants. These would be for big names only. The Rumble works well as is, and world war three never worked at all.

And are you saying have 40 guys in the ring, then do the countdown for the last 20? That just sounds convoluted and weird.

Re: MITB attempts.

As it stands right now a person can attempt a cash in multiple times. One the bell rings YES that counts as one. I think the attempts should be limited as it will condition the crowd to know that that person only has 3 chances. One missed opportunity creates desperation and in a way careful planning.

Re: MITB rematches.

Nothing is allowed to breath in WWE. Cena got his ass kicked a SS. He was back in one week and dominating and then the next month it was him and Lesnar again. That is a match that WWE could have pushed back until at least RR. If Rollins came out and killed Lesnar. WWE would have to be super creative in things of ways to keep these guys apart/barely touching until the end of the 90 days. Maybe 90 days is too much? Perhaps just 30 so there is at least one PPV breathing room.

I still think the way it is now is more than simple and straightforward enough. Adding in 'attempts' just convolutes a simple idea.

As for the 30 or 90 day thing....might work in some cases, might not in others. Either way, it wint happen for the very reason you want it to - WWE doesn't care to let things breathe. Sometimes that is bad, sometimes things don't need to.

New Year's Revolution '05 was the one and only.

It's totally unrealistic, but I want SummerSlam to be an outdoor show permanently, though obviously held at stadiums that can hold the crowd noise well. Obviously you're never topping Wembley in '92, but I was legitimately disappointed that the "NY/NJ" hype just meant that it'd be held at the Izod Center in 2015. Who gives a shit about that? That's an arena that will have hosted a PPV not even a year and a half before. It's not special. I wanted the Red Bull Arena. Filling out domes twice a year isn't feasible, but why not an MLS stadium?

Posted elsewhere today: I could do without the GM's / Authority Figures for a while. I think that would be a breathe of fresh air.

Forever.

How often did we see Jack Tunney on TV? How often does Gary Bettman or other sports GM's show up? It should be once or twice a year to make an announcement.

Why can't a championship committee just make the matches without appearing on TV. The other aspect of that is I HATE when they book the show on the fly (ie the show starts without a main event). It's so insulting to the viewing and incredibly stupid.

I had an idea a few years ago that after WrestleMania everyone is stripped of their titles, and everyone's ranking is down to zero and they have to spend the rest of the year building up rank leading up to next year's WM. The way I had it in mind, it would make the titles mean something again, virtually dedicate their entire year of programming as a way to lead up to Mania, and possibly be good television.

I really like fakeplastictree's idea for the HOF. It's a rather stiff presentation, and I wish they'd just make it a smaller event for the Network. That sadly will probably never happen in the near future unless the money situation gets so bad that they'd have to, in which case they'd probably just scrap it.

So, almost like a "season"?

Things I'd do

bring back King of the RIng- I like the no former champions get it. I'd guarantee the winner a shot at Summerslam for the title. Run the tourney in July.

I'd allow for upset Rumble Winners.

I'd implement a booking rule where at least one match a night breaks traditional structure- and finishers aren't used.

Why can't MITB matches end in DQ? I'd have some champ get himself counted out or DQed or have someone run interference to thwart MITB. I could see say, a champ Seth Rollins having J&J out there to punch off the ref when he's cashed in on.

I suppose, but it obviously wouldn't be like that year after year. Just something to reset the clock in a sense and make the titles mean something again.

Yeah, I agree that I'd like to see some upset Royal Rumble winners. Here's a cool analogy: In 1913, an un-ranked amateur golfer Francis Ouimet (aged 20) entered the US Open Championship as an amateur wildcard. He tied the top two professional golfers in the world at that time, all the way through the tournament, before defeating them, in a massive upset in the play offs.

How do we bring this to the RR fold? One of the NXT top prospects makes their main roster debut at the Royal Rumble as a wildcard entrant. My vote would be someone like Sami Zayn in this scenario, given his natural charisma. The NXT guy manages to last until the final four, and eliminates the odds on favorite that year to win the Rumble and get a title shot at Wrestlemania. They'll obviously lose the title match at Wrestlemania, but the shocking build aftermath of his Rumble victory and subsequent build towards the title shot at Wrestlemania would be huge, and a star maker from the beginning, even though they'll not be winning the title.

Ahh, gotcha. I dunno, it kinda reminds me of WCW's New Blood storyline.

Show did this on Cena in 2012.

If there's ever a Shield triple threat, I want this to be the setup: MITB 2015 is held within 365 days of MITB 2014, meaning that Rollins could still cash in after the new winner receives the briefcase (it's A YEAR, not "until we have a new MITB holder").

The MITB match is first or second on the card, something like Cena-Rollins is the semi-main, and the main is Reigns defending the title against Rusev or Sheamus. Ambrose wins MITB, Rollins wins his match, and Reigns retains. THEN... Rollins finally cashes in and takes the title off of Reigns. He gets to be a smug dick for a minute or so until the shitty dirtbike riff hits, and Ambrose cashes in on him, walking out of the show as champ. I HATE the ten-second title reigns that have occurred with so many MITB cash-ins, but it's never happened against a heel, a heel who just ambushed the champ to win at that, so it'd be fantastic as comeuppance. And Ambrose-Reigns-Rollins is your SummerSlam main event, with all three having held the title in one night. (I'd book Ambrose to go over Rollins, to keep the first Ambrose-Reigns singles match in play.)

Continuing with the MITB ideas.

The WWE title is vacant for whatever reason, a tournament or something is announced. But, before these plans goes ahead, the MITB contract holder comes out, announces he is cashing in and demands to be crowned the champ by default, since the title isn't held by anybody.

Imagine Rollins does this? They could call it the "Rollins Rule" amendment to the terms of the MITB contract. In essence, if the title is vacant or held up, the MITB contract holder has the right to be crowned champion, if they choose, in exchange for their contract.

  • 4 weeks later...

The next time WWE does one of those "championship can change hands on a disqualification":

Even though it's morbid, I'd like to see a member of the audience jump the rail and attack the wrestler NOT scheduled to go over, in full view of the referee. Surely, in order to maintain kayfabe, the referee would have to call the DQ and award the match to the the wrong guy? Incredible bonus if it involves a title change that was never supposed to happen.

I don't know if I like THIS idea, but I do love when wrestlers do shit so outside of the norm that they get their own rule named after them. The New Age Outlaws pinning themselves to get out of a 4 way is still memorable to me due to them creating the Outlaws rule after that match that they still referenced for a year or two after.

Is someone else controlling your mouse or thumb today, or did you click on this yourself?

Or the word "scenario" is sort of vague.

If it said "people with no booking experience tell you how they'd book wwe in an excruciating, wordy manner", I wouldn't have clicked.

It's a fan website, rarely frequented by people with actual booking experience. What the hell did you expect? Dusty Rhodes dropping by to answer questions about how he'd handle the current WWE landscape?

Back on topic...

I'd like to see WWE try to replicate Baba's booking of Kobashi, where a new star loses dozens of his initial matches, but gets over huge in doing so.
