shoe
WK9 is only a few days away and I'm stoked. It looks like a stacked card. Here are some hype videos.A lot of you have seen them already. I will say they do a good job, not perfect, but good.
soup23
Pretty excited as last three matches have all produced great matches between those pairings. Tack on some fun stuff in the undercard that could be really good and I think this could be my favorite WK show in the past few years. Most interested in the main as their 1/4/13 match is my least favorite of the series and where I think they went the most epic route. I think a combining of the Invasion Attack and KOPW 2013 matches could produce something special and a MOTYC for 2015. Are you watching this live Shoe? shoe
I'll be watching live Chad. I have NJPW World and am going that route. The show seems stacked. What about you?
soup23
Yep, going to do New Japan World as well as live hopefully. Contemplating the dangerous UFC > WK duo that will put me in a coma the rest off Sunday.
shoe
I'm not doing UFC for 2 reasons. One I watch UFC at a bar with friends so I'd be drinking. Doing a double header I would be falling asleep at intermission or at the Bullet club 6 man. Honmma will need his working shoes on. I 'll be recording Titans instead of UFC. WingedEagle
I'm definitely watching UFC as its the first fight in a couple years I've been excited about and on a slow weekend it'll be a good chance to drag a couple friends over. Even without UFC, I'm debating how to approach this show. No chance I'm staying up to watch it live, but if I'm buying it I want it spoiler free. It'll be tough to make it through the day online without catching those on twitter or elsewhere. So basically the options are to order and DVR, then watch in the morning, or look to catch it online sometime next week. Plus I still haven't made up my mind which commentary I want to watch with, which will also impact things.
Zoo Enthusiast
I'll probably just download and watch UFC on Sunday. The commercials are well-produced but I still think that fight is a one-sided beating, so I'm just going to skip it. I'll be buying Anderson's comeback fight, though. Migs
I haven't watched a lick of recent NJPW, and I'm going to give the English broadcast a shot. The foreign language commentary has always been a turn off to me with Japanese stuff (I actually prefer the FMW matches with no commentary). But with all the talking up of recent NJPW, feel like I'm missing out a bit and this seems like a nice place to jump in.

shoe
Another thing to look at is if the NJPW camera crew films Karen Jarrett differently than they did Maria Kannellis.
El-P
I'm probably gonna watch a NJ show for the first time in years. So yeah, pretty curious to see how things have evolved over there. Another thing to look at is if the NJPW camera crew films Karen Jarrett differently than they did Maria Kannellis. Maria Kannellis appeared in NJ ? What was the issue with how they filmed her ? shoe
They were zooming in on her ass, on her camel toe. They weren't shy . You're watching and it's like hi there. Then again the transition for her team to get heat was her putting Captain NJ head in her boobs.
Blehschmidt
How much is the PPV version of the show with the English commentary anyway?
soup23
On DirectTV, it was $34.

Was that because of some talent exchange with ROH (she's working ROH, right ?) ? I'm so out of the loop.
WingedEagle
Yes, she was there with Mike Bennett as part of the talent that was sent over for the G1 Finals and a few big shows in the fall, I believe the November PPV (which at least had Fish & O'Reilly, can't recall if Bennett was there) and certainly the tag league. Fantastic
Still thinking about the Rumble they are doing. Seriously, it seems pretty likely that Nagata is going to win it. I often wonder how friendly Nagata is with Gedo and Jado. Even if he isn't always prominently featured, he still gets receive strong booking from time to time, including winning the NJPW Cup in 2011 and getting a shot against Hiroshi Tanahashi's title. Hell, they let him go to NOAH last year where he won the Global Tag league, main evented in title matches on tours, and even held the GHC Heavyweight title for nearly five months! It's similar to the kind of booking that Mutoh and Chono have been in reciept of in the later points of their careers, except that I'd argue that Nagata isn't really at their kind of level. shoe
We're less than 12 hours away. I really feel if you're upset with how WWE presents wrestling and you haven't checked out NJPW ever or in awhile you're doing yourself a disservice.Get NJPW world for a month, or get the Jim Ross called event. I feel the WWE has great talent, but creative with the start/stop stuff, bad booking hurts the talent. NJPW is great at making the titles feel important. They know how to build a card to the proper cresendo. The way the card is laid out makes sense. Their are payoffs to getting behind wrestlers. A lot of people say their in ring product is top notch. It is, but you can get great matches in a lot of places. Getting great matches, that are enhanced by the booking isn't as easy.

I'm signing up right now, navigating the Japanese content can be tough, but Chrome is excellent at translating, also here is a user guide for convenience. 999 YEN is peanuts for high quality programming. Fantastic
I am curious though, presumably there will be an option to watch with the English commentary?
Shining Wiz
Nope....New Japan World is strictly in japanese. I'll probably check out some of the English commentary sow tomorrow, but I'm going to try and stay up and watch the japanese show tonight. I'm half afraid that the English commentary is going to take away from the wrestling. Not being distracted by dumb comments is probably half the reason watching in japanese is so fun. I wish themes weren't edited out though.

The AJPW commentary of the 1990's will always be my favorite, the cries of "LARIATO!!" and the amazing OTT reactions for big moves like the Burning Hammer, Kawada's powerbomb and the Tiger Driver '91 are priceless!
