Ricky Jackson Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 http://placetobenation.com/tag-teams-back-again-episode-5-managers-midgets-and-machines/ Kelly and Marty dive deep, deep, deep into the archives and emerge with six more matches from 1986 WWF to review. Marvel at a match list that will make you think "What the hell were these guys smoking?" Zoo Enthusiast Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Has become one of my favorite podcasts. Any chance you guys will take Titans-style diversions and maybe cover some Crockett, World Class, etc. tags from the same era? Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 You've got to admire Marty's commitment to getting "whoomp there it is" over. He's like a young DDP with his "good God!" Quote
Matt D Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Kelly makes a confusing Kimberly though, despite the name. Quote
SteveJRogers Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Has become one of my favorite podcasts. Any chance you guys will take Titans-style diversions and maybe cover some Crockett, World Class, etc. tags from the same era? Episode 6 is AWA's Midnight Rockers/Rose-Sommers war. Quote
Ricky Jackson Posted June 3, 2015 Author Report Posted June 3, 2015 Yep, ep 6 will be devoted the Midnight Rockers vs Rose/Somers feud and we have some ideas for similar shows looking at famous tag feuds from other territories. Quote
Ricky Jackson Posted June 3, 2015 Author Report Posted June 3, 2015 And obviously I'm Vinnie Vegas to Marty's DDP Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 A listener question for that show: to what extent do you think the opening 10-15 minutes of the cage match in which Shawn appears to be taking liberties is justified? This was a massive talking point during the AWA set stuff. I can't remember the sides, but I think Matt D was against the match and Will was for it. I was somewhere in the middle, I think with Dylan. Quote
Matt D Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 That was fun. I'm tired and old now and can't argue like that. If you're going to look at that match, you have to look at the cage match from a week or two later after they hammered out all of shawn's BS. Quote
Ricky Jackson Posted June 3, 2015 Author Report Posted June 3, 2015 The plan is to look at both cage matches and about three other bouts Quote
Superstar Sleeze Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 You've got to admire Marty's commitment to getting "whoomp there it is" over. He's like a young DDP with his "good God!" With a tear in my eye, that is kindest compliment I have ever heard. Being compared to 40 year old DDP was my life dream! Seriously though, if it was over at 1993 Center Stage, then it over in the 2015 Den of Sleeze. I never discuss with Kelly that I am going to do that and there is always a month in between shows so I actually have no idea if he knows it is coming, but he always handles it like a pro. Quote
Magpie Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 Totally enjoyed this thank you, good mix of historical content and having fun with the craziness that wrestling brings at times. The comment of Andre's jealously of Hulk Machine leading to WM3 cracked me up Quote
