Beefcake was pretty good during that run. Easily the peak of his career.

I don't know, I've watched a fair amount of Dream Team recently, and Beefcake on average only wrestles 25% percent of the match while Hammer does all the heavy lifting

this team was responsible for an actual interesting thought from scott keith, which is enough for top 25 in my book!

 

to be specific: he said that beefcake sucking actually helped the original dream team by making them more coherent, with valentine doing so much of the work. when they switched him out for bravo, the work became more evenly split since bravo was seen as a better hand than beefcake...but he wasn't that much better if at all, and the team suffered for it.

I think it was a strange duo to put together but they made it work. While Valentine was the workhorse, no one would ever argue that, I feel Beefcake improved as time went on and held up his end quite well. Nearly 30 years on, The Dream Teams matches against name teams like the Bulldogs, Rougeaus, Islanders, Bees and US Express, are still quality in my eyes. Even matches against the Hillbillies, Tito/Pedro, and maybe a few other throw together tag teams, still hold up well.

Yea the whole "Robert Gibson sucked and was useless" thing is going WAY over board now if we're trying to compare him to Brutus Beefcake. Was Robert as talented as Ricky Morton? Obviously not. But he didn't SUCK.
