Loss
Scott Steiner interview with some classics Scott Steiner was the featured guest on this weeks Get in the Ring with Phantom and new co-host, Junior. To Listen to the Interview go to www.voiceofwrestling.com or www.wrestlingradionetwork.com - Scott Steiner joins Phantom and Junior on the show. Steiner says he's getting back on the wrestling scene after surgery on his foot. The injury "slowed him down a little bit" during his WWE run. - Talk turns to the recent passing of Eddie Guerrero. Scott says Guerrero was ?an addict?, and remembers him being an ?addict? back in WCW. He also states that he feels horrible for his family. When asked if he was ever close with Eddie, Steiner says the cruiserweights stuck together in WCW. - Phantom then brings up the WWE release; "I didn't really wanna be there anymore, it was horrible. The TV was horrible - and it's even worse now!" - Howard Finkel told Steiner that his debut pop in Madison Square Garden ranked up there with Superstar Graham and Bruno Sammartino, yet "like they did to everyone else from WCW: they shit on you." - Steiner goes onto say, they did it with Goldberg and Nash, "...Nash was supposed to be HHH's best friend," and "they never attracted the WCW audience." - Junior asks if they purposefully went out to destroy the careers of the WCW guys? "Yes, without a doubt." Steiner says he wasn't even allowed to do my own interviews. - Phantom asks the weekly HHH question. "He's like Flair, he's nice to your face but who knows what goes on behind closed doors?" - Steiner says he was first asked to come in at Wrestlemania 18 it was to team with Steve Austin against Nash and Hall but the money wasn't what he wanted. He ended up getting more than what he asked for anyway. - Junior asks if Steiner had artistic freedom with his WCW promos, bringing up the Flair skits. "I just ripped him, he's so easy to pick apart." After one promo, Flair was seen in another room crying. "He's the biggest piece of garbage you'll ever meet." - Steiner says that even Phantom would be 16-time world champion if he had all his friends writing for him and that his book buried him more than even he could. - Phantom compares cliques in WWE and WCW. Steiner says in Titan, you have to be "cool with Vince, cool with HHH for obvious reasons, cool with Stephanie." - In WCW; "Flair's buddies tried to bury NWO from day one. Flair would rather have the belt and draw 1,500 people then not have the belt and sell out." - Steiner will be appearing for the AWE in Canada for a two day supershow on Decmeber 6th and December 7th, www.aweheat.com and Rikishi's promotion in Italy before that. - Scott said that it seemed like they "tried to take the power away from Shane (McMahon)" while he was in WWE, which is probably why Test got released. Steiner laughs at how badly the WWE treated Test while he was recovering from neck surgery. - Steiner then tells a funny story about Dick the Bruiser and Ric Flair, and a time when Afa slapped the Nature Boy. - Scott then puts over TNA and talks about Bischoff, WCW, Lex, before talking about the DDP backstage fight. Guest Mac
Aside from the Eddie comment i can't see much that shows him in a negative light.
goodhelmet
Considering it has been just a little over a week that he has been dead, I think that is enough.
Guest Flyboy
I don't see it as such as bad comment either, but to each his own.
sek69
No one ever accused Scott Steiner of ever being classy in the first place, and Eddie was an addict when they were in WCW, so other than his bluntness I don't see anything wrong with these comments either. Mad Dog
I don't see the problem with it. He was essentially telling the truth and he did say that he felt bad for the guy's family.
Coffey
I know my friend Eric marks out for Steiner. Hanging around with him when WCW was still in business, you had to hear about that shit all the time. I liked him during his solo push in WCW. That's about it. I do remember his WWE debut pop being monsterous though. Steiner + Roid Rage + Live Mic = Ratings! I think he could've been successful in WWE (again) had they just given him time to get his cardio back to where it was. It was obvious that he was suffering from ring rust and was probably too heavy too. They just instantly stuffed him into a feud with HHH and Hunter worked circles around him. It made Steiner look really bad. I kinda miss him though, to be honest.
sek69
I loved when Steiner would get mic time in WCW, no one (not even him probably) knew what he was going to say.
Guest Kilgore Trout
They just instantly stuffed him into a feud with HHH and Hunter worked circles around him. That's pretty far from true. Jericho worked circles around him. HHH did nothing.
sek69
HHH made sure to get Steiner blown up and made him look bad.
Loss
I think the Flair comments are a little much, especially when every time Flair has confronted him face to face on the issue, Steiner has said he was just working an angle to get over as a heel. Guest Cam Chaos
Then Flair must be pretty stupid or simply wants to avoid a DDPesque incident by pushing the issue. I mean, what does Ric resembling a sharpei have anything to do with wrestling?
Guest The Metal Maniac
It made Steiner look really bad. HHH didn't make Steiner look bad. Steiner forgetting every single move except a belly-to-belly suplex made Steiner look bad.
Coffey
HHH didn't make Steiner look bad. Steiner forgetting every single move except a belly-to-belly suplex made Steiner look bad. I was under the assumption that Triple H called the match.
Guest TheShawshankRudotion
HHH wanting to do a long match with Steiner made Steiner look bad. ...and Steiner...
Boondocks Kernoodle
I think the Flair comments are a little much, especially when every time Flair has confronted him face to face on the issue, Steiner has said he was just working an angle to get over as a heel. That makes no sense because Flair was also a heel at the time. Steiner is full of crap. No matter what his motives were, it was obvious he was going into business for himself since WCW suspended him for about six weeks after that interview. Loss
Yes, and there's no reason for Steiner to be less than honest when Flair comes to him and asks him if he has a problem with him. But that's the route Steiner has taken. Of course, he has changed his story with Ric many times. He's also done interviews putting him over, so who knows. sek69
There's been so many stories about Flair though, that it comes down to either Flair really is/was a dick backstage to people or a lot of people still have it out for him 5 or more years later. Loss
I don't doubt Flair was a kiss-ass and I'm sure he's told his share of lies. I just don't know if that has ever translated to sabotaging someone's career. Scott Steiner is a guy that has roughed up jobbers, thrown punches at front office people and gone into business for himself on live TV. I think he can only blame himself for his fortune. goodhelmet
If his book is any indication, I don't believe a word that Flair says.
kjh
What in particular did you find to be dishonest in the book? I agree that many of his accounts and opinions had to be taken with a pinch of salt, but more because of ignorance, being fed bad information and ranting without thinking than outright lying. Guest Some Guy
I don't doubt Flair was a kiss-ass and I'm sure he's told his share of lies. Scott Steiner is a guy that has roughed up jobbers, thrown punches at front office people and gone into business for himself on live TV. I think he can only blame himself for his fortune. Flair has started fights backstage as well. Bischoff and Foley come to mind. I think Steiner is just a sad man who never lived up to his potential because of injury and steroid abuse slowing him to the point of being nearly unwatchable in the ring and is makes him fell better to have someone other than himself to blame. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Flair willing to drop the belt to Steiner in the early 90s or if that just a SKism?
Mad Dog
Actually, if anything kept Scott from reaching his full potential it was his loyalty to Rick.
sek69
Actually when he was with Rick, he was part of one of the best tag teams in the US and Japan. It's only when he decided to gobble steroids like they were Flintstone vitamins did things start to go downhill.
Mad Dog
Yeah, but WCW wanted to give him a big singles push when he was still good. He declined because of Rick.
