Judy Bagwell
have you considered putting out a video/podcast aka OSW style? if not why not? the net is flooded with audio wrestling podcasts but OSW seems to be the only video podcast out there
Ricky Jackson
I've considered it. I once produced 4-5 videos of selected biography segments from early Titans of Wrestling shows, and those were time consuming. Also considered a youtube podcast, which evolved into Titans Xtra. Basically I don't think it's really worth the extra effort as far as attracting new listeners is concerned, but who knows, I may try again sometime in the future

JerryvonKramer
Editing a show is a real time sink. I can only imagine how long a video would take, especially to the standard that Jay and the boys do it on OVW.
Bigelow34
Yeah same answer here, just too much time. The PTBN XMAS show is about the most editing I do each year and that was draining... can't imagine doing video on the reg unless it was a paid gig. SomethingSavage
I can't imagine wanting to WATCH a podcast. Maybe that's just me. I do a lot of my listening via my phone or on the go anyhow. Podcasts get me through trips, tasks, etc. Enough free time to sit down and watch stuff is usually reserved for Netflix or actual TV shows. I just don't think it'd do anything to attract new listeners. To me - in my view - the audio is more readily & easily accessible anyway. supremebve
Yeah, I don't know how many viewers a video podcast would get. I could see a 5-10 minute YouTube show, but anything more than that would be kind of overwhelming. Podcasts work, because audio is something you can enjoy while doing anything else, video requires much more attention to fully appreciate. As someone who has done some video editing, I don't see why anyone would want to spend that much time doing something for free. In order to film, edit, and produce a piece of polished video is a huge time sink. The amount of depth the PTBN hosts put into their podcasts would be whittled down to damn near nothing, while doing 10-15x the work. I took a video media class in college where we had to produce three video projects, none of which could be over two minutes. We had to find a subject, film it, interview a couple people and then edit the videos and each video was probably 12 hours or more of work. The thing I realized while doing all that work is that the finished product was only representative of about 10% of the work. You spend a lot of time setting up cameras, shooting footage that has no value(B-roll is like oxygen, you can't breathe all the oxygen in the air, but you can't breathe without it), writing(it saves a lot of time to have a script, because those awkward pauses, umms and uhs are much more noticable when watching someone instead of just hearing them.), and cutting out all of the nonsense(video has to be concise, nothing is less entertaining than meandering, unfocused, video features). A video podcast with any production value at all would take much more time than what the finished product was worth. I like wrestling podcasts, because I can hear different perspectives in a natural, off the cuff conversation. Video doesn't really work like that, those conversations don't get that kind of time, have to be more focused, and take an entire different skillset than it does for audio. bradhindsight
And in a similar vein, a "video" podcast which is just web cameras on the hosts doesn't move the needle and is really unnecessary. I do know people that like to listen to shows via Youtube (very simmilar to what Kelly has done actually - still pictures, or something of the like), but that's while they are multi tasking at work - they aren't flipping back to make sure they can see ugly mugs bantering on about RAW. JerryvonKramer
The truth is that we're all running scared from Aubrey Sitterson, and that's a straight shoot.
The Chief
Don't wanna typecast, but when I think of fan video, I immediately think of something like "DXfanz316" opinion on this week's NXT, mouth-breathing all over his webcam with ROH posters and WWE action figures all over his bedroom wall. Don't see how seeing what the hosts look like adds anything to the show. Even though I'm positive all of you suave fellas here are a step up from the stereotype
funkdoc
the OSW Review guys don't show themselves on camera, for what it's worth i do think there's a lot of value in putting your stuff on Youtube simply because it's such a larger platform, but you can just throw your audio podcasts on there! Judy Bagwell
yeah Im not talking about seeing the hosts, just audio over video . The images imo just enhance the experience what better than listening to Will,Chad and Johnny discuss Uncensored 1996 than accompanied by images of the Booty man handing Hulk and Macho rubber frying pans

RCS1988
Any news on when the HOW feed of podcasts return to PTBN like Wrestling with Optimism & History of Wrestling? Also, while they don't need to do video podcasts, maybe posting YouTube videos of when they attended the live events like a couple of quick clips. Last time they did something like that was WrestleMania 30.
JerryvonKramer
Well, here's something new, more Mystery Science Theatre than commentary, but have a look: We did a watch-along audio show and this thread made me have a brain wave. So let us know what you think and if there's interest, we could make it a regular thing.

RCS1988
You should try a 3 man thing for this with 1 person from each region, 1 from PTBN, 1 from PWO, and 1 from HOW. IF PTBN did this, it would make Bigelow34's YouTube page more active.
JerryvonKramer
It's easier said that done. I have chemistry with Kelly built up over 50+ shows, just as Justin has chemistry with Scott and Graham has chemistry with this lads. Watching footage while talking is not like doing a regular podcast, and needs that chemistry already to be in place. And while we might have done guest spots on each other's shows over the years, we move in different circles. I say this from experience. The first time Chad and I "met" Will and Johnny on a show was during an AWA watching party. It was awkward as hell. I've now done dozens of shows with Will and Johnny and could talk to them while watching any footage. But it takes time to build up chemistry with anyone. So let us know what you think and if there's interest, we could make it a regular thing. You've basically done a wrestling equivalent of a Let's Play video, which is a very popular type of video that features running commentary over video games. This is not a bad thing. (If anything, this is something that should be happening a lot more with wrestling, though I suspect that rights/fair use issues might be even more of a pressing issue for wrestling than they are for games with these types of videos.) One recommendation - rather than posting one long two-hour video for the whole card, you might consider breaking the video uploads up by matches, just to make them a little easier to consume and/or revisit in segments. You can always put them in a YouTube playlist to string them together into a single experience for anyone who wants to run through the whole thing in one go. Yeah overtime is fine, but it could be done, it could be any combination. Also, I know this is out of the TOW time frame, but please you & Kelly do a video on the Tom Magee Arn Anderson match. Ricky Jackson
I think the most entertainment will come from watching whole cards, specially mostly garbage like the Cap Centre one. Something that builds and builds in its sheer crapiness . One isolated match won't have the same effect
