Ricky Jackson
Official drop is tomorrow, but PWO gets the advance screening http://placetobenation.com/at-the-garden-series-preview-wrestling-at-msg-1880-1938/ This is a special series preview for a new ongoing podcast from Kelly Nelson (Titans of Wrestling, Tag Teams Back Again) that will spotlight individual wrestlers and their history at the "Mecca of Professional Wrestling". This episode provides a brief history of three different buildings known as Madison Square Garden, covering such figures as "The Solid Man" William Muldoon, George Hackenschmidt, Frank Gotch, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos, Danno O'Mahoney, and many others. *Also, I pledge to keep episodes in the 45 minute range, perfect for those finding it difficult to consume all this media in the 21st century! Johnny Sorrow
Kelly shared this with me awhile ago and it's great. This is gonna be a fucking awesome show, and I'm not just saying that because Kelly and I are life partners.
soup23
This was an amazing ride through history. I found it really engaging the various stop/starts and middling success wrestling had at the Garden throughout its early history. Londos really feels like a difference maker not only from an attendance standpoint but also from shortening the length of the matches overall. The architecture of the various Gardens was also really interesting. From double crosses, sinking ships, and political maneuverings. I can't recommend this podcast highly enough. Bigelow34
Twitter feedback Kelly David Starsky @DrDavidStarsky 9m 9 minutes ago @Place2BeNation loved this show. Kelly sounded like a cross between Dan Carlin and John Hodgman.
Ricky Jackson
Haha...I assume that's a complement. Forgive me, but I don't recognize the names Edit: ok I googled and I know who they are but am not too familiar with their work. Personally, I was going for the guy who narrates Ken Burns docs type vibe
Bigelow34
Karl @KarlPG 10m 10 minutes ago I dont know if Kelly is on Twitter, but his MSG Podcast is jaw droppingly great. Set new standard for how wrestling podcasts are done.

Ricky Jackson
I'm on Twitter as far as the Titans account goes (99% Pete) and do keep up to date with it, but I should probably create an account for At the Garden

Gutenberger
I really enjoyed this one, a great history lessen. One suggestion though, when you're talking about matches available on Youtube, you could put links inthe the info text. I often listen to podcasts on the way to and from work and tend to forget to seek them out later, so by giving the link I could bookmark it insantly on my smartphone. Outsider
At the rate Chad & Parv are at with "where the big boys play" you should complete this in the 27th century.
Ricky Jackson
Nothing to complete. The focus on the show going forward is individual wrestlers. The show will last as long as I feel like doing it
SomethingSavage
Finally got around to listening, and this was fantastic. I'd never make time to seek out and read this material for myself, so it's awesome to just conveniently toss this on and let you guide us through everything. Highly informative stuff, man. And big thumbs up for some of the music selections. Very fitting & nicely done all around.
Ricky Jackson
Thanks a lot. My love for music is as great as my love for wrestling and history, so this is a truly a passion project for me. And for those wondering, I'm about 70% done the first Bruno show. I should have it done and ready to drop in a couple weeks at the latest
