TheDuke
Wikipedia says there was supposed to have been a WCCW Star Wars show in March 1982, but they don't seem to have mentioned it on the show which seems weird. Do you guys know if this Star Wars card would have been taped?
Ricky Jackson
They never mentioned it, but maybe because it happened in Fort Worth, where the regional show was taped, it was only hyped in that market. No idea if footage exists. What does exist is Xmas Star Wars 1981, which we plan on reviewing as a bonus around Xmas this year

What does exist is Xmas Star Wars 1981, which we plan on reviewing as a bonus around Xmas this year I can't remember but did the ft worth shows exist in its own world like it did in later years? For example ft worth had a world class tv title. For all intents and purposes did not exist at the Sportarium.
Ricky Jackson
Episode #9 Â https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-9 Â April 17, 1982 (WCCW 17) Â It now SOUNDS like the World Class we know and love. It now LOOKS like the World Class we know and love. But...it's...just...not...there...yet. Pete, Kelly, and Johnny are present for the dawn of a new era, but the old era still has some fight left in it, led by good ol' Al (Madril) and his 70s All-Star Band. Plus we have an even stranger time warp as GORGEOUS GEORGE (Grant) and the NATURE BOY (not Rogers or Flair) are live and in black and white from the 1950s! You never know what to expect from World Cast!
Johnny Sorrow
Have you ever wanted to hear about about how similar Bob Backlund and Kevin Von Erich are? Now you will! And.... A TITAN FALLS. Its all here, True Believer!
TheDuke
That handheld cam on the floor really makes it seem different. It makes the crowd seem more excited or alive in this episode. Â The rope running part in the Zapatta match looked really sloppy to me. Â I loved Johnny's reaction to the referee interview. It's like in WCCW the Von Erich's and their cronies are secretly the heels! I wish I was able to see wrestling more the way Johnny sees it, as it seems more fun to me. Â I did like seeing the classic footage, and I liked that sunset flip move Kevin Von Erich did. I am wondering though if after what happened to Pete in this episode if for my own health's sake I should start watching WCCW wearing my sleep apnea machine.. just in case. Johnny Sorrow
Gary Hart is the true good guy. Hes just trying to help the misfits like Kabuki and Bundy fight back against this family of dummies spawned by a Nazi with a stupid big belt buckle who run the show with an iron...claw. GFAllentown
Johnny's reaction to David Manning on this show had me rolling, but I'm also pleased because now the "Dick Woerhle role" from Titans has been filled for "referee who is far too obnoxious"
thebrainfollower
Johnny turning into the Jesse Ventura of this promotion 35 years later is great. Â Though I actually sort of agree. They pushed the Von Erichs so hard and in such a way that decades later, they do come across as heelish but eh, nobody cared then clearly. Â Â Â Pretty sure that the match Jimmy Garvin lost that kicked off the Sunshine/Precious split was for the TV title, which made it weird when it looked like he was getting super mad for no reason since the main show never mentioned the title that I can recall. Ricky Jackson
Episode #10 Â https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-10 Â April 24, 1982 (WCCW 18) Â It only took ten episodes but we have an actual top to bottom GOOD SHOW folks! (the WCCW ep, not the pod, which is always great, right?). Ok, maybe not top, but definitely middle to bottom. We have a crazed Kerry Von Erich promo, the underrated Richard Blood (according to Kelly at least), Kerry vs. Black Gordman, Bill Irwin again and again, and a slugfest between King Kong Bundy and the Spoiler in the main event. Join Pete, Kelly and Johnny for another fun time on World Cast! Â *Apologies for the echo-y audio at times. What do you think this is, one of them fancy wrestling podcasts? Ricky Jackson
Episode #12 Â https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-12 Â May 8, 1982 (WCCW 20) Â Pete, Kelly, and Johnny get together to discuss a really fun episode of WCCW TV, climaxing with an awesome match between Kevin Von Erich and the Great Kabuki that is crazy heated and features wild outside the ring action. In addition, we have Tom Shaft and Ken Mantell squashed like the worthless bugs they are by Bundy and Bugsy, Good Ol' Al with another ** humdinger, and Gary Hart promising brutal things to be delivered by the man from MA-COW. Â All this and more on World Cast!

(not really the first, but maybe the first on tape). A bunch of other stuff happens, like a match with "one of the greatest criminal minds in the world today", Capt. Frank Dusek, the debut of the man from MA-COW, Magic Dragon, an action packed 43 seconds between Bill Irwin and Rick Harris, and Bundy and Bugsy continue their rampage. JKWebb
I get more excited to watch one of these WCCW episodes than I do the current product. Zoo Enthusiast
Im slogging through the early shows trying to catch up before I start flying through the podcasts. Some of them are pretty rough watches but its a light at the end of the tunnel reading your teasers. I have seen enough Kerry/Kabuki clips for a lifetime.
