Bruiser Brody Brody came to the ring with his head already bandaged from last week's brutal and bloody cage match…..Big John Studd came to the ring in a spandex full body suit (ala the Assassins) complete with gloves and then put on his old Executioner mask before getting in the ring so there was essentially not a spot on Studd exposed that Brody could bust open to win the match…..so the story of the whole match becomes Brody trying to beat down Studd enough to removes portions of this outfit so he can make him bleed to win the match…..at one point referee Rick Hazard caught a stray big boot from Brody that took him down……Brody managed to remove the mask of Studd and then rip open the back of Studd's spandex top…..Brody removed Hazard's belt and began whipping Studd's back trying to draw blood…as Hazard struggled to get up off the mat….Percy Pringle runs into the ring and hits Brody in the face with the North American title belt, Brody grabs Pringle and bodyslams him but when Hazard stands up he sees blood streaming down the face of Brody from the belt shot and calls for the bell declaring Studd the winner and still champion
dawho5
That main event was awesome from start to finish. Benoit vs. Douglas would have been a ton of fun. Love me some Moondogs.
spaldoni
Oh man what a throwback with Studd bringing out the old Executioner mask. Jeez! The Funks and Abdullah on the same team. Poor Embry. Moondogs seem to be on a roll. And the Steiners are building some momentum.
SirEdger
Controversial finish in the main event! It's definitely not over between Bruiser Brody and Big John Studd! You can easily sell out the Sportatorium again with that rematch.

GeneJackson95
(Going to be out of town until Sunday, but will post the Houston show and catch up on feedback then. Thanks!) World Class Championship Wrestling TV Recorded at the Sportatorium in Dallas, TX on 1/30 Airing on Friday 2/7 on WTVT throughout Texas And various outlets across the Southwest. Hosted by Bill Mercer and Bruce Prichard Ring Announcer/Interviewer: Marc Lowrance (the show opens this week with Houston promoter Paul Boesch telling the fans about the untimely passing of the great Gino Hernandez, followed by a 10 bell salute) (Bill Mercer/Bruce Prichard welcome everyone to the show and tell what's in store for this evening and then pitch to a promo from the NWA World Tag Team Champions The Andersons who are standing in front of the Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling set) Ole: "Maybe they thought we wouldn't hear about it Arn, but it was certainly brought to our attention that the Funks were down in Texas running their mouth about the Minnesota Wrecking Crew!" Arn: "That's exactly right Ole, while there's no question that the Funk Brothers are one of the greatest teams in the history of this industry, even they know better than to think that they were going to mess with 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, and then disparage the Anderson name…..even a couple of dumb Texans know better than to mess with the Horsemen." Ole: "Yet….that's exactly what they did, they called us out like we weren't going to hop a plane and come to Houston, Texas this Saturday night and teach them a lesson about why we are the World Tag Team Champions and the greatest tag team in pro wrestling today…bar none." Arn: "So get it straight Funks….we respect you, but we don't like you and we sure as heck don't fear you…Saturday night in Houston you two will be another notch on our belt…and two more victims of the Minnesota Wrecking Crew." (EVD VTR) MATCH #1:The Mighty Kokina w/Gary Hart defeated Bubba Monroe with a 'big splash' (David Shultz approaches Jimmy Garvin and Eric Embry in the dressing room) Shultz: "Hey Garvin, Frank Dusek just came to me and said he's signed a tag match in Houston with me and Embry against your brother Ronnie and a so called mystery partner…..now just go ahead and tell me now….is it you, because I know he doesn't have any friends." Garvin: "I told you David, he told me to 'stay out of his business' and I am…so NO, I'm not his partner." Embry: "Oh God, it's gotta be Leatherface!" Garvin: "Eric, why do you always assume a mystery partner is Leatherface??" Shultz: "Garvin, what the hell is his problem? Embry, how long was the bus that used to pick you up for school?" Embry: "I didn't ride the bus, my mom took me to school." Shultz: "Well….there ya go." Garvin: "Leave him alone Shultz…..anyway, it has to be a bluff…because nobody would want to team with Ronnie, at this point even those goody goody Von Erichs wouldn't team with him." Embry: "What…I know who it might be…"(whispers something to Garvin) Garvin: "ERIC…it can't be him, he just passed away." Embry: "But…maybe that's just what they WANT us to think." Shultz: "Shut up! Listen, we'll force him to show his hand before this show Is over and find out who the partner is." Embry: "Fine, but if I hear a chainsaw…I am out of there!" Shultz: "I hate you…" (storms off) COMMERCIALS MATCH #2: Revenge MatchThe Steiner Bros. w/Eddie Gilbert & Missy Hyatt defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) when Gilbert tripped Fulton allowing Rick Steiner to steal a pinfall for the win! (VTR: Marc Lowrance is at the gym with Mike Von Erich and his cousin Lance Von Erich) Marc: "Mike, I know you've been out of action for a few months now but I hear you are healing up and on the comeback trail." Mike: "That's right Marc, I suffered an injury at the hands of Big John Studd and there hasn't been a day that's past that I haven't wanted revenge for that…and that's fueled me to be in this gym everyday with my brothers and my cousin Lance here." Lance: "Man, Mike has been killing it here in the gym and he's going to come back better than ever and when he does….the Pringle Dynasty better watch out!' Mike: "That's right, Studd may have been the one who injured me but I know good and well that no good Percy Pringle is the one responsible….and the Von Erichs are going to make sure they both pay!" (END VTR) MATCH #3: Bullwhip on a Pole Match "Dirty" Dutch Mantell defeated Austin Idol w/Gary Hart……Mantell got the whip down and whipped Idol all they way down the aisle and out of the arena as Gary Hart ran the opposite direction! Well, you guys have an enemy you must have forgotten about." (the lights in the Sportatorium go out for a few moments and when they come back on…..Ronnie Garvin is in the ring and standing behind Shultz and Embry is none other than…..BAD NEWS ALLEN!! gordi
The ten-bell salute is a very nice touch. Andersons vs Funks... yet another dream match coming up right here on Armchair Booking! Bad News and Ronnie Garvin. Yikes! Now THAT is a seriously bad-ass team-up.
dawho5
I'm not sure Embry can get out of that tag match alive. I think I'd prefer Leatherface to be honest. Just then Rip Rogers hit the ring and they double teamed Parsons eventually giving him a spike piledriver….leaving him laying as Rogers strapped Parsons' TV title belt around Gilbert's waist and they left with it. GRUDGE TAG TEAM MATCH Ronnie Garvin/Bad News Allen defeated "Dr. D" David Shultz/"Flamboyant" Eric Embry when Bad News pinned Embry after a "Ghetto Blaster"……Shultz simply walked out as Embry was getting pinned. Post Match: Bad News grabbed the mic and said he wants his rematch for the Texas Heavyweight Championship against David Shultz…..Garvin interrupted and reminded Bad News that HE is the man who beat him for the Texas title and that he's the one that wants a rematch with Shultz…..Bad News simply replied, "Oh yeah, that was YOU that stole my title" and with that he punched Garvin in the face and a wild brawl ensued which Shultz watched from the aisle while eating a fan's popcorn that he snatched out of their hand, smiling all the while. dawho5
Gilbert and Shultz look like they are going to steal the show, but Embry comes back with tomess with the Funks in probably the dumbest move of the year. Great card.
spaldoni
Fun TV show. Gino getting the 10 bell salute was so fitting in Texas. I couldn't wait to see the Shultz/Embry interaction and of course it cracked me up. The "My mother drove me to school" line had me rolling. Mantell sends Idol packing. The Steiners with another big win over the Fantastics. Bad News for Embry and Shultz. The Sam Houston card was great. What a dream match between the Andersons and Funks. Dundee and Street pull off an impressive win against the Moondogs. Kokina is proving to be a monster on the rise. Bad News and Garvin brawling after their win was great, even better was Shultz eating a fan's popcorn and watching LOL.
gordi
I was hoping for Bad News and Garvin to stick together and kick some ass, but it suits Allen's character to be more of a lone wolf, I guess... and Dr. D munching on popcorn while watching them turn on each other is a perfect character moment for him. Prichard: "Well if possession is truly 9/10ths of the law, then Eddie Gilbert is the actual Television Champion." (As Prichard is finishing this sentence, the Funks are in the ring with a mic) Terry: "Bruce Prichard, shut your stupid mouth…..What happened last Saturday night was a G** D**** travesty and we want those two sissies in the ring right here TONIGHT!! I'm serious Mercer, get those two out here and get them in the ring with us or we will not leave this ring until they do!!" (Garvin, Precious, and Embry are in the aisle way with a microphone) Garvin: "Yeah…yeah….yeah…yeah…Terry Funk, did you really think that you were going to come down to ringside a few weeks ago, kiss my squeeze right on her mouth and you wouldn't pay the price for that?? Is that what you thought Terry Funk?? Well obviously you were WRONG!! We waited until we could do something big….something you wouldn't forget and what better than to cost you the World Tag Team Championship!" Terry: "Oh…so that's what this all about….that little hussy of yours got a taste of a real man and you're still sore about it….I get that Jimmy….I really do….but I'm still going to kick the living s*** out of you none the less." Embry: "Mr. Funk….I respect the hell out of you….I respect your brother Dory Jr there and I also respect your father…..but you left us no choice with what you did to Precious." Terry: "Embry….you damn idiot….I don't care about your respect! I hate YOU, I hate your BROTHER, I hate your FATHER, and I really hate your w**** of a MOTHER!!" Embry: "How dare you!?!?! My Mother is a saint on earth!! You want a match with us? Is that what you want?? You want a match with me and Jimmy Garvin??" (Garvin interjects) Garvin: "Whoah…slow down Eric, If you want a match with us…..you can have it….in fact you can have one right here TONIGHT in Dallas…..BUT, only if the North American Tag belts are on the line!" Terry: "If that's all it takes to get you sissies in the ring then consider it done! Junior and I will kick the crap out of you and then I might just give ol' Precious there another kiss on the mouth because I know she wants it!" (having gotten what they came for, the Funks exited the ring) MATCH #1: Bad News Allen pinned Randy Watson after the 'Ghetto Blaster' (Post Match: Bad News grabs the microphone) Bad News: "Ronnie Garvin, this week it's you and me one on one….the winner gets a shot at David Shultz and MY Texas Championship. Garvin, I'll admit you're a tough man….but nothing is going to stop me from getting my revenge on Shultz and getting my belt back…..and once I get that title back, Rick Martel….I'm coming for you, boy!" COMMERCIALS (Percy Pringle III joins Marc Lowrance at ringside) Marc: "Percy Pringle, rumor has it you have a huge star making his debut here in just a few moments." Pringle: "Well Marc, I usually don't condone the telling of rumors but this one is true…..I have a wrestling mega star….the one….the only….Dirty Rhodes!" Marc: "The American Dream…wait….did you say DIRTY Rhodes??" Pringle: "That's right Marc, 'the Texas Dream' Dirty Rhodes….the one true star of the Rhodes family is here and part of the Pringle Dynasty." (Roger Smith a/k/a Dirty Rhodes makes his way to ringside bearing a strong resemblance to the American Dream Dusty Rhodes) Rhodes: "Thank ya very much for that intro baby…..I am the man…the myth…the legend himself baby….don't be fooled by cheap imitations if ya wheel…..Dirty Rhodes is here and I'm here for gold, Percy, let's do this!" MATCH #2: "The Texas Dream" Dirty Rhodes pinned Will Owens after an elbow drop (Bruce Prichard is at ringside with the NWA World Champion Rick Martel) Prichard: "Ladies and Gentlemen, the NWA World Champion Rick Martel is here and later tonight he'll be facing 'the California Stud' Rod Price and then this Saturday he will be defending the title in Amarillo." Martel: "Yes Bruce, I'm very excited to be here in Texas….I've heard such great things about World Class and the level of competition here is 2nd to none. Top contenders like Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, the Funks, and Bad News Allen…." (Big John Studd, Rod Price, and Percy Pringle interupt) Studd: "Martel you come down here and you have the nerve to mention top contenders in Texas and you don't mention the real #1 Contender the North American Champion the 'Giant' John Studd! Do you know not remember the beating I put on you up in Lutte in Canada?" Martel: "Studd, of course you are a top contender….and of course I remember our match in Canada…and I also remember you were unsuccessful in winning my World Championship….however I will gladly defend this title against you or anyone else that Fritz Von Erich deems worthy of a shot at this title." Studd: "Well, this title over my shoulder says I'm the #1 Contender to that belt…..but you go ahead and step in the ring against my man here, Rod Price…..and I'm going to grab a seat here and check out the action, chump…..I mean…ha, champ." Hart: "Well Mr. Lowrance, first things first after being assaulted by a lunatic with a bullwhip…Austin Idol has decided that Texas isn't for him and he's out of here. As far as Makhan Singh goes…..he kept losing matches and embarrassing us so I sent him on his way too. So no more Makhan Singh….and no more Ottmhan Singh….this big man here is better known to his friends and in the bars around Dallas and Ft. Worth as 'Big Bubba' and that's what he'll be referred to moving forward. Speaking of moving forward, we have our sights set on the Von Erichs….we want those six man tag team titles when we find the right partner….but for now we've issued a challenge to any pair of Von Erichs to step in the ring in Amarillo, Texas with these two men…..and just in case you can't see how impressive they are just standing here….watch this!!" MATCH #4: Handicap Match Mighty Kokina/Big Bubba w/Gary Hart defeated The Hammer Brothers/Donnie Brooks when Bubba gave Brooks a powerslam followed by a 'big splash' from Kokina (Bruce Prichard is joined in the dressing room by 'Iceman' King Parsons) Prichard: "Iceman, last week in Houston you were outsmarted by 'Hot Stuff' Eddie Gilbert who now has your Television title not to mention he laid quite a beating on you as well." Parsons: "Outsmarted me?? That's what you call that garbage he pulled last week…..shaking my hand and then attacking me from behind with his boot. Let me tell you this Bruce Prichard, you raggedy rooty poot….Eddie Gilbert is a coward who couldn't deal with the fact that I was the better man….so he did what cowards do and that's attack me from behind using a weapon….but I'll tell you something right now Prichard….I got something for him in Amarillo, I'm not coming to wrestle this time….'Iceman' is coming to fight…and I'm coming to get my belt back!!" kevinmcfl
Great way to start a holiday weekend. A little WCCW for us all to read and it never let's us down. So much going on here. Studd-Martel is awesome. Garvin/Embry/Leatherface & The Funks had us excited at the beginning of the show and has us wanting more at the end. Why would anyone tag with Bad News. First Iceman and now Ronnie. Being his tag partner just seems to mean you are next up for a beating. Shultz would be less dangerous in prison. He is a beast in WCCW right now! Our NWA reminds me of when I was a kid going from Georgia Championship to Florida to WCCW to even Polynesian Pro when I could find it. spaldoni
Man what an exciting show! The Leatherface payoff was great and new tag champs. Dr. D is on fire here. Nice to see him get the spotlight he deserves. Martel and Studd should be a good one. A lot of potential big money title defenses for Martel in Texas .That tag team gauntlet match looks like it's going to be chaotic fun. The Texas Dream Dirty Rhodes is hilarious. I also like the Iceman/Hot Stuff feud going on. Cant wait for the Amarillo card!

kevinmcfl
I was wondering what you were going to do with Jesse Barr and as usual, you hit a Home Run! Amarillo got a real treat with this show as it was great from top to bottom!
spaldoni
Wild show tonight in Texas! What a great debut of Jimmy Jack Funk, loved the showdown between him and his chair against Leatherface and his chainsaw! The tag team gauntlet was a lot of fun with the crowd favorite Von Erich's winning it. The Steiners had a strong showing there. Dundee and Street looked pretty good as well. Crazy match between Dr. D and Dutch. I cant imagine what Dr. D and Bad News are going to do to each other. Martel with a strong title defense. And yes, Kamala literally makes a huge splash, make that 3 splashes on Kerry. Gary Hart and Kamala are such a good fit in Texas.
