Pacific Coast Wrestling San Diego Battleground from the San Diego Sports Arena, November 26^th

 

The Great Kabuki & The Great Muta vs. The Hart Foundation

 

These two factions had been battling for several weeks in increasingly heated matches, and that carried into this match. Although both teams could boast considerable technical skills, that seemed to go out the window early on in favour of knock down, drag out brawling. The ref did his best to maintain some semblance of control, but when he tried to get between Muta and Bret Hart, Muta grabbed him by both shoulders and sprayed him full in the face with the green mist.  Once the ref recovered, he called for the DQ and the Harts scattered, but Kabuki stood in the ring, staring at his son. After a while, he shook his head and walked away from him, while Muta eventually left in the opposite direction, leaving behind a shocked looking Missy Hyatt.

 

Ed Wiskowski & Doug Somers vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Randy Rose

 

The Hollywood Vice Squad have been nursing a grudge against the Playboy Club ever since Buddy Rose and Billy Jack Haynes took the Pacific Tag Team Titles from them. This time out, it would be Buddy Rose's top lieutenants, Wiskowski and Somers, squaring off against Jimmy Del Ray and Randy Rose, who were joined at ringside by the latest member of the Vice Squad, "Gorgeous" Gary Young. Although Young loudly supported his cohorts outside, he did not get directly involved in the match, and the two teams had an evenly matched affair that could have gone either way, but Wiskowski pulled it out for his team when he caught Randy Rose coming off the ropes with a kneelift to the midsection, followed by a face first piledriver for the win. Del Ray and Rose were looking to try and get some payback after the match, but Young could be heard telling them that they would have a better chance to strike later. Stay tuned for more developments.

 

Mike Rotunda & Tom Zenk vs. Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

Ever since the former Dan Spivey turned his back on the Brigade and took on his Waylon Mercy persona, he has been firmly in the camp of Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Ever since, The Snake has been a sinister presence at all of Mercy's matches, including this one. Although Rotunda and Zenk were outsized by Mercy and Nord, they gave a very good accounting of themselves, maintaining the advantage in much of the match. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Roberts ambushed Zenk, yanking him off the ring apron and driving him head first into the ringsteps. Nord swiftly followed up in devastating fashion by leaping out of the ring and landing on Zenk, knees first to the chest. Zenk was in agony and in no shape to continue in the match, and though Rotunda did his best, he could not overcome the overwhelming odds and went down to a DDT from Mercy. Can anything stop Jake Roberts' reign of terror?

 

The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) vs. Flamboyance (Lanny Poffo & Ron Starr)

 

The Thundercats' fortunes took a bit of a dip after they lost the Golden State Tag Titles to the Guerrero Brothers, but they have been steadily climbing back into contention with a series of hard fought wins. In facing the more experienced members of Flamboyance, they certainly proved their mettle, matching Starr and Poffo move for move and not taking a single backward step. Smiley was able to catch Starr in a belly to belly suplex and hold him down for the three count. An impressive win for the Thundercats, who may well be challenging again soon for one of the tag titles.

 

Brutus Beefcake & The Southern Boys vs. The Freebirds

 

The Southern Boys have been having a lot of difficulties lately, but this was where they finally came to a boil. They seemed to be getting along for most of the match, working well with Beefcake to fight the men from Badstreet. But things all exploded when all 6 men were brawling in the ring. Steve Armstrong was trading blows with Michael Hayes when Tracy Smothers came off the top rope … and nailed Armstrong with the Jawjacker! The fans were in shock but Smothers seemed unduly pleased with himself as he left the ring and abandoned Armstrong to his fate. While Terry Gordy and Buddy Jack Roberts dogpiled on Brutus Beefcake, Michael Hayes hit a running bulldog on the unconscious Armstrong and got the pinfall. It looks like the Southern Boys have split for good.

 

Street Fight : Badd Company vs. The Dog Pound

 

These two teams have been warring for quite some time and tonight there would be nothing holding things back, with no time limit, no countouts and no disqualifications. Both teams threw everything but the kitchen sink at each other and all four men were a bloody mess by the end. That end came when Brian Knobbs brought a steel chair into the ring, with intent to use it on Pat Tanaka. But Tanaka thrust kicked the chair into Knobbs' face, and Paul Diamond immediately followed that up with a German Suplex that kept Knobbs' shoulders to the mat for the three count. A hard fought victory for Badd Company, and they and Missy Hyatt got a roar of approval from the crowd for their efforts.

 

Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Chavo & Hector Guerrero © vs. British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside)

 

Regal and Brookside are one of the most exciting duos in wrestling today, and the young Englishmen have kept the fans spellbound with their chase for the Golden State Tag Team Titles. In this match, they were going full speed against the Guerreros, and the crowd gasped at a number of occasions when it seemed like they just might pull off the victory. It seemed that the titles were finally within their grasp when Regal caught Hector in the Regal-Plex (modified cradle suplex). Alas, it was not to be, as the ref was escorting Brookside from the ring at that point, allowing Chavo to break up the pin with a running senton on Regal. By the time the ref turned around, Hector was covering Regal with a double leg takedown, and he made the three count, keeping the titles in the hands of the brothers. A disappointing loss, but the fans still cheered on British Steel, assuring them that their day would soon come.

 

Submission Match for the California Title : Al Perez © vs. Mr. Hito

 

The Latin Heartthrob fought long and hard to win the California Title , earning the admiration and respect of the fans. Since he became champion, his most persistent challenger has been Mr. Hito. While Perez has managed to keep his challenge at bay, the tough as nails Japanese veteran has been relentless in coming after him, leading to this match where the only way out is to surrender. Perez used his considerable technical skills to take Hito to the mat, working to try to get him in place for an armlock. But the canny Hito knew a plethora of ways to escape Perez's traps, and kept breaking free to tenderize him with blistering kicks and chops before going for his own submission holds. Perez managed to endure these attacks but it was a close thing. Perez was finally able to hoist Hito up and hit the Ally-Copter. He swiftly followed up with the Japanese Armbreaker (Wakigatame) in the middle of the ring. Try though he might, Hito could not make it to the ropes, and had no choice but to give up the match. If there was any doubt before of Perez as champion, he has certainly proved with this match that he is the real deal.

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. Bob Orton

 

In the time since he won the Television Title, Texas Red has had a truly epic title range, seeing off a variety of contenders with seeming ease. But of late, the cracks have been starting to show. A series of matches with various members of the Crazy Gang have taken a heavy toll on the tall Texan. A recent dastardly attack by the Hollywood Vice Squad led to a leg injury, and he was showing the effects as he limped to the ring. "Cowboy" Bob Orton was smelling blood in the water and relentlessly went after the damaged leg at every chance he got. But Texas Red was not going to be easy pickings, and fought back determinedly. It seemed as though he just might pull it off as he lined up Orton for a big lariat. But the Hollywood Vice Squad had stealthily made their way to ringside, and when he came off the ropes, Randy Rose nailed him in the leg with a folded chair, just out of sight of the referee. Orton capitalized by clobbering him in the back of the head with a running elbow smash, and Red was dazed and staggering while Orton hammered him with blows. Orton finally hit his own lariat to keep him down for the one two three, and the Cowboy was now the new Television Champ, much to the disappointment of the fans. A sad end to the popular Texan's classic title run.

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Billy Jack Haynes © vs. Cabin Fever (Grizzly Boone & Manny Fernandez)

 

Speaking of the Crazy Gang, Cabin Fever have been bulldozing their way through the competition, leaving behind a trail of battered bodies. The combination of Boone's size and power and Fernandez' intensity and viciousness has proven very difficult to beat. They have had a few shots at the titles so far, but thus far they had eluded them. Clearly aiming to make this shot count, they jumped Rose and Haynes before the bell, bloodying them and inflicting a lot of pain. But the oddly matched pair of champs were able to bounce back and rallied to make the challengers pay some dues for the dastardly early attack. It looked like they were able to overcome the odds and prevail when Haynes was about to pull off the seeming impossible and powerslam Boone. But Fernandez dove in and took Billy Jack's legs out with a clip, causing Boone to fall on top. One two three , and the Crazy Gang were the new champs. But that was not enough for Boone and Fernandez, who tossed Rose from the ring and beat down Haynes, dragging him outside and having Boone hit not one but two big splashes on the concrete. Haynes was devastated by this attack and was taken out on a stretcher. Now all three members of the Crazy Gang have titles and anyone looking to take them off them have their work cut out for them.

 

The Final Battle – No Time-Limit Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Eddie Gilbert

 

While the evening has had a lot of thrilling matches, this was clearly the one that the fans were most excited to see. The two good friends had already has several epic battles for the title, and the announcement that this would be Gilbert's last shot at the title only heightened the interest. The knowledge that this was his last chance to win the big belt clearly steeled Gilbert's resolve and he came out hot against Steamboat, not letting their friendship slow him down. Steamboat was initially taken aback by the blazing attack of Hot Stuff , but weathered out the storm and took back control with some of his trademark arm drags. He tried to wear down Gilbert with a series of armlocks , but Gilbert fought like a tiger to escape. Gilbert managed to gain the advantage when he ducked under a Steamboat attack and counter with a clothesline, but no matter what he did to the Dragon, he kept on coming back. The match went deep and long, and towards the end both men were struggling to stand up, just laying into each other with punches and chops. Steamboat gave one last desperate attempt to put Gilbert away by coming off the ropes with a leaping karate chop. But Gilbert reflexively grabbed him around the waist and dropped him on the ropes with the Hot Shot. One … two … THREE!!!! Gilbert had pulled it off and won the Heavyweight Title! The crowd exploded in cheers and Missy Hyatt was in tears as she embraced her man. Steamboat, in a display of good sportsmanship, put the title belt around Gilbert's waist and raised his arm, and the two friends hugged in the ring, seeming to hold each other up after an epic and exhausting match. I am sure Gilbert will prove to be a great champion for a new era of Pacific Coast Wrestling.

Great Thanksgivingevent!

Really enjoyed the first match.  The ending leaves us with so many possible angles.

Good job slow playing the development of the Dog Pound.  86 could be a big year for them.

The surprise of the night might have been Orton going over Texas Red.  Interested to see what is next for Red.

The Rose/Billy Jack vs Cabin Fever was the highlight for me.  Can't wait to see how Ployboy reacts to this.

Awesome match with Gilbert and Steamboat.  Gilbert will make a great champ and I can't wait to see who is coming after him next.

The road to Battleground was filled with a lot of intriguing storylines and tonight we get the thrilling conclusion. 

You know it's going to be a great night when the opening match is the Hart Foundation vs. Muta and Kabuki. It appears Muta has turned to the dark side. An evil Muta is scary. 

Sommers and Easy Ed get the win. I agree with Young, the Vice Squad might need some time to regroup. 

Dang! Jake's group sent a powerful message tonight! Jake is not one to mess with. 

Well it finally happened. Smothers put his partner down with the Jawbreaker and left him in the hands of the Freebirds. No coming back from this as I'm sure Armstrong will be out for blood. 

In a fun underrated feud, Badd Co. has put a stamp on their rivalry with the Dog Pound. This was one of those feuds that elevated both teams.

British Steel is coming on strong. They didn't win the straps tonight but have solidified themselves as serious threats. On the flip side, I've been a big fan of the heel Guerreros title run. 

I agree, Perez is the real deal after this great showing against Hito. Perez is a man with all the tools.

HUGE night for the Crazy Gang! It starts here as Orton ends Texas Red's dominant TV title reign. I guess it didn't take long for the Vice Squad to regroup as they set their sites on Red. IDK, this might of been a grave mistake. 

Cabin Fever has done it. They end the fun and odd championship run of Rose and Haynes. Not only that but they send Haynes out on a stretcher. If this happened in Portland, it might of caused a riot. Crazy Gang are now the top dogs in Pacific.  

Absolute classic title bout to end the night! Steamboat and Gilbert just have those styles that mesh so well. Great match and I have to admit I was stunned when Gilbert won the title. Stunned in a good way. The storytelling to Gilbert's chase was engaging and it delivered the ultimate payoff. Hot Stuff along with Missy brings in a new era in 1986. Like Steamboat, Gilbert will be a fun underdog fighting champion and will give the fans a lot of classics.

Texas Red is going to have it out for the Vice Squad.

That Steamboat-Gilbert match was a battle for the ages. With Steamboat now headed elsewhere, I'm interested to see what lies ahead here!

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN, December 4^th

 

Tracy Smothers vs. Max Dawson

 

After his betrayal of Steve Armstrong at San Diego Battleground, Tracy Smothers was greeted with a less than welcome response from the crowd as he made his way to the ring, not that you could tell from his broad smile. Occasionally , the façade would slip and he would snap at a fan who got too vociferous with their jeering, but the most part he kept a disingenuous grin plastered on his face as he easily dominated the rookie Dawson. He continued his false good cheer after polishing him off with the Jawjacker, but the fans were having none of it. Smothers can look forward to more hostile greetings after his turn to the dark.

 

Nick Busick & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

Lately, there has been static between partners Busick and Bigelow, a situation which Jake Roberts has eagerly exploited. The Snake was in the corner of his men Mercy and Nord as they took on Nick and Bam Bam, but had to watch as his team struggled to make headway against the two power houses. It got to the point where all four men were slugging it out in the ring, and that was when Roberts decided to strike. Busick was trying to come off the ropes with a clothesline on Mercy, but Roberts yanked down the top rope, causing Busick to tumble to the outside. Roberts then swiftly grabbed Busick and drove him hard headfirst into the ringsteps. Roberts quickly scuttled away as Busick lay unconscious on the floor, while his men double teamed Bigelow. The Beast From The East was able to break away to attempt to tag out, but was distraught to find his partner was not in his corner. Their mentor, Leo Burke, soon rushed to ringside to help Busick to his feet, but when Bigelow saw this, he got even more upset that he had been left on his own. Mercy and Nord took advantage of this distraction to take him down with a double clothesline from behind, and Nord followed up with a running kneedrop for the three count. After the match, Burke and a dazed Busick got in the ring to help up Bigelow, but Bam Bam was furious with them. They tried to explain what happened, but Bigelow would hear none of it, and stalked off on his own. Could this be a permanent split between Bigelow and Busick?

 

Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring

 

Bonnema : Folks, my next guests have taken a fair number of blows lately … Mike Rotunda and Al Perez, the Brigade!

 

The fans cheer the two Brigade members as they head to the ring, but they don't seem to notice. Rotunda was looking furious and Perez seemed unusually subdued, his normally smiling face downcast and despondent.

 

Bonnema : Mike Rotunda, not wanting to rub things in, but the Brigade has taken quite a tumble since its early promise. First, Terry Taylor turns his back on you. Then Dan Spivey changes his name to Mike Rotunda and betrays you to join up with Jake Roberts. Now doctors are saying that Tom Zenk will be out for at least a couple more weeks from his injuries due to the Snake's ambush. I hate to say it, but … is there any way that the Brigade can come back from this?

 

Rotunda : Frank, I know things look bad for the Brigade, but we are determined to come back. We've taken some shots, that's for sure. But we won't give up, no matter what. We are going to take on the Snakepit tomorrow night, and even though the odds are stacked against us, we will find some way to make them pay their dues.

 

He gets cut off by Al Perez, who has an absolutely hopeless look on his face.

 

Perez : Mike, brother … I just don't know. You've seen what the Snake can do. He put Tommy on the shelf. He's got Bigelow and Busick at each other's throats. There's just two of us. I just … I just don't think we can overcome those numbers.

 

Rotunda is shocked and closes his eyes, lost in thought.  Then he suddenly snaps his fingers and opens his eyes.

 

Rotunda : Al , I've got it. Do you trust me?

 

Perez : You know I trust you, brother.

 

Rotunda : Well, I know someone who will help. I'm going to make a call, and *chuckling to himself* Jake Roberts is going to regret crossing us.

 

Perez follows Rotunda out of the ring, while Frank Bonnema and the fans wonder just what he has up his sleeve.

 

Steven Regal vs. Gary Young

 

"Gorgeous" Gary Young has made quite an impression since arriving in PCW and joining the Hollywood Vice Squad. He and the rest of the squad caused Texas Red to lose the Television Title , and the popular Texan hasn't been seen since. In his match with one half of British Steel, he had both Randy Rose and Jimmy Del Ray from the Squad in his corners, and they provided plentiful distraction in the match as Young worked in every cheap shot he could. The considerable technical skills of the young Englishman were quite the equalizer, though, and Regal looked like he was set to lock Young in the Regal Stretch (modified STF) when he was attacked by Rose and Del Ray, leading to a DQ. Regal's partner, Robbie Brookside, rushed to the ring to help him, but it was still 3 against 2, and the Hollywood Vice Squad got their licks in before they were run off by PCW security. The Vice Squad, like many groups in PCW, are taking the Strength In Numbers approach, and something needs to be done about that.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Eddie Gilbert © vs. Jimmy Snuka

 

Gilbert is fresh from his victorious campaign to take the Pacific Heavyweight Title from his good friend Ricky Steamboat, and certainly couldn't ask for a tougher first challenger. The always dangerous Superfly was clearly gunning to bring the Heavyweight Title to the Pacific Warlords and went full throttle at the champion. It led to quite the battle, as Hot Stuff dug in his heels to withstand the attacks by Snuka and rally for his own counter attack. The momentum of the match went back and forth, keeping the fans on the edge of their seats, until Snuka hit a running crossbody press, only for Gilbert to counter with a rollover that got the one two three. A successful first defense, but you know that the challengers are all lining up for their shot at the champ.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on Pacific Super Cards, December 5^th

 

Larry Cameron vs. Mando Guerrero

 

Cameron blocked an attempted German Suplex and countered with a leaping clothesline to get the win

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Gary Young

 

Randy Rose was at ringside for the Hollywood Vice Squad and liberally interfered in the match. He tripped Regal coming off the ropes, leaving him vulnerable for a knee shot to the head from Young that got the tainted victory.

 

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Ron Starr

 

Bigelow won with a slingshot splash. Tellingly, Bigelow came out alone, without Nick Busick or Leo Burke.

 

The Great Kabuki vs. Chris Adams

 

An intense and brutal match between two hated rivals that ended when Adams managed to hit the Supekick and score the pinfall.

 

Mike Rotundo, Al Perez & ?? vs. Jake Roberts, Nord The Barbarian & Waylon Mercy

 

Roberts and his crew were all laughs and sneering derision as they came out to the ring, confident that they could easily take out anyone Rotunda and Perez brought in as a partner. This turned into outright mockery as Rotunda and Perez came out alone. But Rotunda looked confident and Perez was clearly ready to follow his lead, and the two were not intimidated by the Snakepit. Roberts' mockery turned to puzzlement as the arena PA started to play "La Grange" by ZZ Top, then turned to shock and panic when the ring announcer introduced … from Sweetwater, Texas … BARRY WINDHAM!!! The Snakepit immediately started scrambling when the blonde second-generation superstar rushed out, and tried to jump the other members of the Brigade before they could get to full strength. But Rotundo and Perez were having none of it, holding their own against the Snakepit until Windham joined them in the ring and decisively turned the tide. Roberts did everything he could to stay out of the ring and let Nord and Mercy do the fighting for him. But the Brigade forced him into the ring and proceeded to take out all of their frustrations on him. When Windham came off the top rope with a flying lariat that looked like it might just take Roberts' head off, that was it for the Snakepit. The Brigade had won the match and gotten some much needed revenge.

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone) © vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers

 

At San Diego Battleground, Cabin Fever took the Pacific Tag Team Titles in decisive fashion, and while doing so, sent Billy Jack Haynes out on a stretcher. Haynes hasn't been seen since, so Buddy Rose brought in his Playboy Club partner Doug Somers to take back the titles. Rose and Somers are former champions as a team, and did everything they could to keep the new champions off balance. But Cabin Fever couldn't be held off for long, and came raging back, focusing a lot of their attacks on Somers. The action spilled out onto the floor, where Boone grabbed Somers and hit a powerslam into the corner, driving the Pretty Boy's back hard into the post. Somers was in agony as Boone then slammed him onto the floor, and was not able to make it back into the ring for the ten count, giving a countout victory to the champs. Somers had to be helped to the back after the match. It looks like Buddy Rose is starting to run out of allies, and possibly run out of time.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Eddie Gilbert © vs. Don Muraco

 

Having withstood a challenge from Jimmy Snuka, Gilbert now must defend his title against the other half of the Pacific Warlords, Don Muraco. Gilbert certainly had his work cut out for him as the Magnificent One towered over him, and Hot Stuff wisely decided to Stick & Move with Muraco, hitting rapid fire punches and kicks to the leg before dodging out of the way. Muraco was able to hit some hard shots and slams on Gilbert and certainly made them count, but the resilient champion was always able to bounce back and keep up his attack. His efforts paid off when he was able to get Muraco down and trap him in a Figure Four Leglock. He did a lot of damage until Muraco was able to make it to the ropes. Muraco was able to battle back and get Gilbert set up for the belly to belly piledriver, but his battered leg couldn't take the strain and he tipped over to the mat with Gilbert on top. Gilbert then went up to the second turnbuckle and hit a kneedrop to Muraco's sternum that got the three count. A tough challenge for Gilbert, but one where he was ultimately triumphant.

In another high intensity classic, Paul Diamond hit a reverse cross body press on Steiner to pull out the victory

 

Leo Burke vs. Mr. Hito

 

A tightly contested technical bout where Burke was able to pin Hito after a belly to back suplex

 

Brutus Beefcake vs. Bret Hart

 

Jim Neidhart was in his partner's corner and tripped Beefcake when he was coming off the ropes for the Final Cut (running knee lift), allowing Hart to nail Beefcake with a running clothesline for the win

 

Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Too Cold Scorpio © vs. Lanny Poffo

 

An exciting , high flying battle that Scorpio won with a top rope sunset flip

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Bob Orton © vs. Ed Wiskowski

 

A knock down, drag out brawl that ended with both men slugging it out a ringside, resulting in a double countout decision

The new Pacific era is off and running.

Heel Tracy Smothers will be fun to watch.

The tension between Busick and Bigelow has reached its peak. When these two go at it, it's going to be one hard hitting encounter. 

A lightbulb went off in Rotunda's head. Can't wait to find out who's coming in to help in the fight against the Snakepit. 

Looks like the beginning of a British Steel/Vice feud. 

Love the Gilbert/Snuka match up. Gilbert defiantly has a variety of challengers to work with.

Vice Squad win round 1 against British Steel. 

Adams and Kabuki continue their solid feud. Adams seems to have the edge. 

OH YEA! Rotunda couldn't of picked a better partner than BARRY WINDHAM! Awesome debut as Barry gets the big pin on Jake! Barry is going to thrive here. 

Cabin Fever's title reign is off and running. Big c.o. win over the Playboy Club. 

Gilbert is off to a great start as champ by taking down both Snuka and Muraco in some hard fought title defenses. 

Smothers and Armstrong go at it. Advantage Smothers.

I guess things aren't finished between Badd Co. and the Dog Pound. These teams have been giving the fans some good matches.

Scorpio is rolling as LHW champ.

I'm looking forward to Orton's TV title reign. He's a type that can adapt to all sorts of styles.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase Battleground Countdown Show from the Portland Sports Arena, on ESPN / TSN , December 11^th

 

Brutus Beefcake vs. Chris Adams

 

The feud between Hyatt International and Gary Hart International rolls on with this match. This was added a bit of extra spice by Chris Adams, accompanied by both Gary Hart and Mr. Hito,  stating beforehand that he was going to take down Beefcake and then move on to take the Pacific Heavyweight Title from Eddie Gilbert. Beefcake was not about to be somebody's stepping stone and went full throttle at Adams, but Adams was clearly banking on this, letting Beefcake's temper get the better of him and goading the big man into making a number of mistakes. Adams snuck in a lot of cheap shots through the match, keeping them just out of sight of the ref, but every time Beefcake tried to retaliate, he would be the one to get in trouble with the official. Eventually this prompted the Great Kabuki to come out and show his displeasure at this, which in turn led to Mr. Hito coming over to intercept him. As the two Japanese veterans chopped it out, this provided sufficient distraction for Adams to blindside Beefcake with the Superkick, getting a controversial win. Adams was laughing as he left the ring, but you can bet that Missy Hyatt and her men won't let this go unanswered.

 

Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring

 

Bonnema : Ladies and gentleman, my next guest has been the centre of a lot of speculation of late … Bam Bam Bigelow.

 

The crowd does give some cheers and applause, but it is somewhat subdued as the Beast From The East head to the ring. For his part , Bigelow has somewhat of a hangdog expression as he joins Frank Bonnema.

 

Bonnema : Bam Bam, you shocked a lot of people last week when you walked out on your partners, Leo Burke and Nick Busick.

 

Bigelow : Well, you see, Mr. Bonnema, these tattoos on my scalp are more than just decoration. I can get pretty hot under the collar and I don't always think straight. I'm not proud of my temper, but sometimes it gets the better of me.

 

Bonnema : So the fans want to know, are things over between you and Burke and Busick.

 

Bigelow : Well, that's a pretty complicated situation. I don't know ….

 

Bigelow is interrupted by "Rattlesnake Shake" by Fleetwood Mac playing over the arena PA. He looks confused and then wary as Jake "The Snake" Roberts , accompanied by Waylon Mercy and Nord The Barbarian, make their way to the ring. Frank Bonnema shrugs and hands over the microphone to Roberts before leaving the ring, not wanting any part of what is to follow.

 

Roberts : Bam Bam, I heard everything you said and just had to answer. What I heard was a young man in need of guidance, and I am here to provide that very guidance. I think we can come to an agreement that could benefit both of us. The Brigade just brought in Barry Windham, and I am looking for someone to help even the sides. I think you are the right man for the job. For too long, you put your trust in the wrong man, but I think you see the light now. You know you can't trust Leo Burke. He pretended to be your friend, but when the Pacific Warlords put you out of action, where was he? He drops you like a bad habit and starts buddying up with Nick Busick. Where were those guys last week when you needed them? Nowhere! They left you to fend for yourself. You can't trust them, but deep down, you know you can trust me. I can help you be the wrestler you were meant to be, not the one these fans want you to be. All you have to do is shake my hand and it is all done. What do you say?

 

Roberts holds out his hand to Bigelow, who stares at it cautiously but then nods his head and takes the offered handshake. Roberts smirks at this, but his look soon turns to one of alarm as the handshake turns into a grip of steel and Bigelow harshly pulls him closer and gets in his face.

 

Bigelow : What do you think you are trying to do, man? Leo is my friend! We may argue some times, but he always has my back. Nobody was there for me when I was out of action than him! Sure, he's helped out Nick Busick … Nick's a good guy! I sure trust them more than I would ever trust a creep like you! Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think I don't watch these shows? DO YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DID? (Cue an "Oh, crap!" look on Roberts' face) They didn't abandon me, that was all you! You were behind everything! And you think you are going to sleaze your way in here and pretend to be my friend and think I am going to fall for it? Well, I've got your answer right here, pal!

 

Bigelow suddenly lets go of his hand, grabs him by both shoulders and starts laying in brutal headbutts to Roberts' face, busting him open. He got several headbutts in before Mercy and Nord were able to respond, but he gave them more headbutts for their troubles. They were eventually able to recover enough to try to gang up on him, but by then Leo Burke and Nick Busick rushed out and drove off the Snakepit. Bigelow emotionally hugged his two friend, all seemingly forgiven between them as the fans cheered. Jake Roberts has had his way in PCW for a long time, but now even he has to be scared of what he has provoked.

 

Badd Company vs. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts

 

The Freebirds didn't seem to be taking Missy Hyatt's team seriously as the match started out, showing a dismissive attitude as they mocked Diamond and Tanaka. But Badd Company have been battle hardened by their recent intense feud with the Dog Pound, and weren't about to take any of the  Freebirds' guff. Hayes found this out the hard way when he got into a shoving match with Diamond, only for Tanaka to take him down hard from behind with a vicious legsweep before diving out of the ring without being caught by the ref. Any time the Freebirds tried to double team Badd Company, they would fire back with a double team of their own, and the fans roared their approval every time they did. Hayes got the surprise of his life when Diamond caught him in a reverse flying body press, assisted by a schoolboy trip from Tanaka, and the ref counted to three. The crowd exploded as Badd Company got their most impressive win yet.

 

Barry Windham vs. Joaquin Souberbielle

 

Barry Windham made a spectacular debut last week in a match against the Snakepit, and the fans were certainly excited to seem him in action. He was accompanied by fellow Brigade members Mike Rotunda and Al Perez, and was all smiles and handshakes with the ringside fans before starting the match. The handsome young Texan easily dominated Souberielle, hitting all of his moves with ease and precision before finishing him off with a running Bulldog Headlock. But the approval of the fans turned to dumbfounded shock when it was announce that the next night, Windham would be facing Terry Taylor in a Loser Leaves Town Match. Could Windham's stay in PCW turn out to be done so soon after it started?

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. The Hart Foundation

 

With British Steel's recent troubles with the Hollywood Vice Squad, it was no big surprise when Jimmy Del Ray, Randy Rose and Gary Young made their way to ringside and made their presence felt during this match. Regal and Brookside did their best to ignore them, and for a while held their own against the more experienced Harts, but eventually in was too much to overcome when Rose tripped Brookside coming off the ropes, setting him up to be bowled over by a running shoulder tackle from Neidhart that got the pinfall. After the match, British Steel got on the mic and demanded that they get a match with the Vice Squad the next night, which was immediately granted by PCW Commissioner Dutch Savage.

Pacific Coast Wrestling is moving so somothly into 1986.  I really enjoy when you add an interview to you show and this one was no exception.  Bam Bam is one of my all-time favorires and I like what you have done with his early career.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , on ESPN / TSN Pacific Super Cards, December 12^th

 

Nick Busick, Bam Bam Bigelow & Leo Burke vs. Jake Roberts, Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

The trio of Busick, Bigelow and Burke, who have taken to calling themselves the Three Man Army, were dead set on vengeance in this match, and there wasn't much Jake Roberts and his Snakepit could do to stop them. Roberts once again tried to use Mercy and Nord as human shields, but it didn't work for him any better than it did last week. He even went back to his traditional tactics of sneaking around the ring to attempt a sneak attack, but was met with a brutal right cross from Burke for his troubles. Burke tossed him in the ring, where Busick whipped Roberts into the ropes and took him down with a jarring spinebuster slam. Usually that would mean the end of the match, but it was not enough for the Army, and Busick immediately tagged in Bam Bam Bigelow. The Beast From The East eagerly went up top and crushed the Snake with a mighty Nuclear Splash for the pinfall. Roberts had to be helped to his feet and assisted from the ring by Nord and Mercy. It wasn't that long ago that Roberts seemed to be ruling the roost in PCW, but his fortunes have taken an incredible tumble.

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Gary Young

 

British Steel have been having their troubles of late with the Hollywood Vice Squad , with the Vice Squad continually making use of their extra man for liberal interference. That was the story for much of the first part of this match, with Randy Rose continually sticking his nose in from ringside. That drastically changed when the crowd let out a cheer, and a tall figure hobbled to ringside. It was Texas Red! Red had not been seen since losing the TV Title to Bob Orton, a loss in which the Hollywood Vice Squad played no small part, and was still noticeably limping as he made his way to the ring. But he had a steely determination in his eyes and he yanked Randy Rose down from ringside. Rose immediately panicked but that did him no good as, with considerable pain and effort, Texas Red chokeslammed him to the floor. With their trump card gone, the Vice Squad fell into disarray, and Brookside capitalized by trapping Del Ray in a crucifix that got the one two three. Texas Red is back, and the Hollywood Vice Squad had better hope their insurance is paid up.

 

Brutus Beefcake & The Great Kabuki vs. Chris Adams & Mr. Hito

Gary Hart snuck a set of brass knucks in to Adams, who used them to blindside Beefcake and score the dirty pinfall

 

Loser Leaves Town Match : Barry Windham vs. Terry Taylor

 

If Hart was looking to pull any more such shenanigans in this match, Mike Rotunda and Al Perez were out at ringside to make certain that didn't happen. Rotunda and Perez cheered on their Brigade comrade along with the rest of the fans. Taylor put up a game fight, but eventually Windham caught him flatfooted with a Western Lariat, then followed up with a running Bulldog for the victory. Taylor cemented his turn to the dark side about a year ago when he turned his back on the Brigade and abandoned them to be attacked by the Freebirds. They finally have their revenge and have sent him packing from PCW.

 

The Playboy Club (Buddy Rose, Ed Wiskowski & Doug Somers) vs. The Crazy Gang (Bob Orton, Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

Somers was clearly still in a lot of pain after what Grizzly Boone did to him last week, and it was like a red flag to a bull for the Crazy Gang. They mauled poor Somers throughout the match, and no matter what Rose and Wiskowski did to protect him, he still wound up taking a lot of punishment. Boone finally pinned him with a belly to belly suplex to seemingly put him out of his misery. But the Crazy Gang evidently had not had enough fun, tossing him outside for Boone to hit two big splashes on the floor for the Pretty Boy. Somers was taken away from the ring on a stretcher. At this rate, there won't be much left of the Playboy Club before too long.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Eddie Gilbert © vs. Terry Gordy

 

This would prove to be the toughest challenge so far in Gilbert's title run, facing off against a former champion. He once again tried stick and move tactics as he had with Muraco the week before, but Gordy wasn't about to let that happen, firing back with rapid fire punches that rocked the champion. Going for a different tack, Gilbert worked to slow down the match by taking Gordy down to the mat. He managed to do a fair amount of damage by doing so, but the big Freebird battled back and came close to pinning Gilbert on a few occasions. Gordy eventually went for a big clothesline, but Gilbert ducked it and caught Gordy on the rebound , nailing him with the Hot Shot. Gilbert got the three count and had scored his most impressive victory yet.

I'm all for Adams going at it with Gilbert for the title. Adams has been on a roll and him and Hot Stuff will tear the houses down. 

Great interview with Bam Bam. I thought for sure he was going to the dark side but NO WAY! The Snake is in big trouble.

After a fun feud with the Dog Pound, Badd Co. score their biggest win over the Freebirds. If they continue at this pace, they'll be wearing gold in no time. 

Oh man, Jake took a beating from the Three Man Army! If this keeps up, the Army might end up running Jake out of town. 

Texas Red is back and gets some payback on the Vice. British Steel get a very satisfying win. 

Gary Hart is getting the better of Hyatt Inc. 

After a solid run in Pacific, Barry sends Taylor packing. Great continuity here as Taylor pays for his previous sins. And Barry is now way over with the Pacific fans. 

Oh man Sommers does the stretcher job! Could this be the beginning of the end for the Playboy Club? 

Hot Stuff faces his toughest challenge to date by taking on former dominating champ Gordy. Great match and Gilbert solidifies himself as a true champ with a huge clean win! 

Great stuff, I like the direction Pacific is going.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from McArthur Court, Eugene, December 13^th

 

Steve Armstrong vs. Tracy Smothers

 

Smothers won with the Jawjacker

 

The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) vs. The Dog Pound (Brian Knobbs & Rick Steiner)

 

These two teams went at it like, well, cats and dogs. The Thundercats are former Golden State Tag Champs, with all of the skill and toughness it would take to hold those prestigious belts, but the Dog Pound gave them an hellacious battle. Smiley was just barely able to counter a power slam by Knobbs with an inside cradle for the one two three, but afterwards you could tell that the Cats had been in a fight for survival where they just barely made it out with a victory.

 

Mando Guerrero vs. Lanny Poffo

 

Guerrero made Poffo give up to the Gory Special

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. The Hart Foundation

 

British Steel have been gaining fans in PCW with pretty much every match they have and had the crowd solidly on their side in this match with the much more experienced Harts. They certainly gave the Hart Foundation a run for their money with many close near falls and plentiful exciting action. The end finally came with Regal hitting a sunset flip on Hart, only for Neidhart to reverse it with a hard running forearm to the face to give the Hart Foundation the pinfall. A disappointing loss for the young English gentlemen, but one that still got them the admiration of the fans and begrudging nods of respect after the match from Hart and Neidhart.

 

California Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Jimmy Snuka

 

Snuka was coming off challenging for the Pacific Heavyweight title and proved to be a lot for Perez to try to handle. Perez was ultimately able to pull off a hard fought victory when he was able to execute the Ally-Copter on the Superfly.

 

2/3 Falls Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Chavo & Hector Guerrero © vs. Badd Company

 

1st Fall : Tanaka thrust kicked Chavo into a German Suplex by Diamond for the pinfall

 

2^nd Fall :  Hector pinned Diamond with the Gurerrero Clutch

 

3^rd Fall : Chavo was finally able to hit the flying somersault senton on Tanaka to put an end to an epic match and a great night of tag team wrestling

I have to tell you, your gradual build up and title victory for Eddie Gilbert has been excellent. Gilbert is one of my all time favorites, so seeing him get his due has been awesome to watch. I also very much appreciated the very long run Terry Gordy had with the belt, as I feel Gordy was wildly underutilized in real life as well.

You've done an awesome job making the Pacific Heavyweight Title something important with good booking, long title reigns, and champions worthy of the belt.

Heel Smothers defiantly has the upper hand on former friend Armstrong. 

Cats vs. Dogs! LOL, how did I not see this coming? 

British Steel is getting some good buzz. No shame in losing to the more experienced Hart Foundation. 

Perez is proving to be a credible champ by defeating some tough challengers. Big win over Snuka. 

The Guerreros and Badd Co. tear the house down in a thrilling 2 out of 3 falls match. Badd Co. deserved this shot but the Guerreros have a pretty firm grip on the titles right now. But who knows, Badd Co. could have their number one of these nights.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN,  December 18^th

 

Brutus Beefcake vs. Mr. Hito

 

The feud between Missy Hyatt and Gary Hart shows no signs of stopping, and this match certainly didn't do anything to slow it down. Both managers were hurling verbal abuse at each other throughout the match, while Beefcake and Hito battled it out in the ring. Ultimately, Beefcake trapped Hito in the Sleeper Hold and it looked like things were all over. But that was when things took a strange turn when Tracy Smothers came out, climbed the top rope and hit the Jawjacker on Beefcake, leading to the DQ. Smothers had betrayed both Beefcake and Steve Armstrong when he walked out on them at San Diego Battleground, and perhaps was looking to clean up loose ends. Regardless of his motivations, he was laughing as he skulked away from the ring, and Beefcake was swearing vengeance when he came to.

 

Bam Bam Bigelow & Nick Busick vs. The Dog Pound (Brian Knobbs & Rick Steiner)

 

With the consolidation of the Three Man Army, Bigelow and Busick have reaffirmed their friendship and are clearly back on the same page. That clearly showed with them swiftly tagging in and out on a number of occasions and working some powerful combination moves on the Dog Pound. That said, Knobbs and Steiner were far from pushovers, having been iron forged from their recent lengthy feud with Badd Company, and gave as good as they got. At a few points, it looked like they might just get the best of the bigger team. But in the end, Busick caught Knobbs coming off the ropes and was able to put him down with the Spinebuster Slam. After the match, Busick and Bigelow high fived and celebrated their hard fought victory.

 

Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring

 

Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guest have bounced back after some setbacks and now seem to be stronger than ever … the Brigade!

 

The crowd cheers as the popular young superstars head to the ring. Mike Rotunda, Barry Windham, Al Perez, and Tom Zenk, his ribs taped up, are smiling and shaking hands with the fans before they join Frank Bonnema.

 

Bonnema : Mike Rotunda, usually when I get to speak to you, the Brigade are in the middle of a crisis, but now, you are on quite the upswing.

 

Rotunda : That's for sure, Frank Bonnema. Barry has joined the team, Al is the California champ, Tom is back, and we are done being anyone's whipping boys! We are heading into 1986 and that is the year that the Brigade breaks out! *the audience cheers* We are taking care of business and settling all our old scores. Last week, Barry drove Terry Taylor out of PCW, paying him back for betraying us. And tomorrow, we are going to do it again. A lot of our recent problems have been because of Jake Roberts. Well, we are going to take him and the Barbarian on in a Loser Leaves Town Match! *the crowd gasps* It's high risk, high reward, but it's worth it to be rid of the Snake. Al and I will make sure he is done …

 

Tom Zenk : NO!!! *Rotunda looks at him in astonishment* I know you are trying to protect me, Mike, but I have got to be in this match. It was Jake Roberts that put me out of action, and I can't take the chance of having him go out without getting my shot at redemption. I have to be in that match.

 

Rotunda : Tom, I know you want to get your shot at him, but you can't risk it. You're still hurt.

 

Zenk : So is he. He's still banged up from what the Three Man Army did to him. This is my best shot at him, he will have nowhere to run and can't pull any of his normal tricks. Put me in, Coach! Al and I will get the job done. *Al Perez looks at him, nods, and stands beside him*

 

Rotunda : Alright, Tommy, I see you are dead set on this. I know you're going to make us proud, and make the Snake wish he had never crossed the path of the Brigade!

 

Jerry Blackwell vs. Ron Starr

 

Crusher Blackwell has kept a low profile of late, but was clearly ready to go in this match with "Rotten" Ron Starr. While there was a considerable size difference between the two, the Bad To The Bone veteran was not intimidated by the Mountain From Stone Mountain, and Starr got in a fair number of hard shots against Blackwell. Starr worked Cat And Mouse tactics against Blackwell, doing his best to stay out of the grasp of the popular Crusher while making every shot count. In the end, though he got cocky, and got close enough for Blackwell to catch him in a powerslam for the three count. A well earned victory for the beloved Blackwell.

 

The Great Kabuki vs. Chris Adams

 

The tempers were running hot before between Gary Hart and Missy Hyatt, but this is where they boiled over. While their men battled it out in the ring, the two managers engaged in a shouting match that culminated in Hart getting right in Hyatt's face. Whatever it was he said to her, she clearly didn't like it as she hauled off and slapped Hart in the face. This enraged Hart, who grabbed Missy's hand when she went for a second slap and looked like he might do some serious harm to the Walking Riot. Kabuki tried to get over to help his manager, but Adams seized on the distraction by taking him down with a clothesline before finishing him off with the Superkick. But Missy did not have to wait long for rescue as Eddie Gilbert raced down to the ring and pulled Hart off her. He started shaking Hart violently until the rest of Gary Hart International came to bail out there manager, but by this time the rest of Missy Hyatt International had joined the fray, resulting in a pull apart brawl. Eventually, PCW security came out and sent both sides to their respective locker rooms, but Hart was both shaken up and livid as he headed back circled by his own men.

Hart and Missy are really going at each other. Pacific might not be big enough for both of them. 

The Dog Pound are gaining a lot of experience but Busick and Bam Bam are in synch and might even be unstoppable. 

The Brigade is back on track! Zenk wants Snake bad and could end up sending him packing. 

Blackwell gets in a nice win over Starr. 

It's now only a matter of time before Gilbert and Adams go one on one for the title.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland,  on Pacific Super Cards, December 19^th

 

Loser Leaves Town Match : Steve Armstrong vs. Tracy Smothers

 

Armstrong went for a spin kick on Smothers, but Smothers dodged it and hit a low blow just out of sight of the referee. Smothers followed up with a Jawjacker for the three count to send his former partner out of PCW.

 

Larry Cameron vs. Lanny Poffo

 

Cameron hit the Harlem Hammer (running double axe handle to the back of the head and neck) for the win

 

Texas Red & British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. The Hollywood Vice Squad (Jimmy Del Ray, Randy Rose & Gary Young)

 

All three members of the Vice Squad Did their best to take out the still injured Texas Red, double and triple teaming him to try to incapacitate him. But ultimately , the big Texan got to the point where he had had enough, and started tossing them around the ring , where British Steel were ready to pound on them. He then grabbed Randy Rose by the throat and hit a mighty Heart Punch, putting him down for good. As Ravishing Randy was being taken out on a stretcher, Texas Red got on the ringside microphone. He announced that, much as he had enjoyed his time in Pacific Coast Wrestling, it was time for him to move on and that he had accepted an offer to join another organization, with tonight being his last night in PCW. He then said that his time in PCW was the best time of his life, and that he would always be grateful to the PCW fans for supporting him and making him feel welcome. He raised the arms of both members of British Steel in victory and left the ring as the fans gave him a standing ovation.

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone) © vs. Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski

 

The last two men standing from the Playboy Club were clearly determined to not be run out by the new champs, and it didn't take long for the match to break down in a brawl. Eventually all men were busted open and swinging chairs, and a no contest was declared.

 

Loser Leaves Town Match : Tom Zenk & Al Perez vs. Jake Roberts & Nord The Barbarian

 

Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham accompanied their Brigade team mates to the ring, clearly looking to ensure that their former partner Waylon Mercy didn't interfere in the match. Jake Roberts went to his usual dirty tactics, sneaking in every shot he could to Zenk's injured ribs. But Zenk gritted his teeth and gutted it out, working this to his advantage by drawing Roberts in so Perez could catch him behind and nail him with a suplex that exacerbated the Snake's own injuries. Roberts finally tossed Zenk outside for Mercy to deal with him, but while Rotunda and Windham swiftly intercepted Mercy, Zenk caught himself on the top rope and quickly ascended to the top turnbuckle. When Roberts turned around , Zenk caught him in a flying cross body press. One … two … THREE!!! The Brigade had gotten their revenge and Roberts and Nord were now gone from PCW.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Eddie Gilbert © vs. Chris Adams

 

This one was a wild one, with neither man holding back. Eventually, Gary Hart tried to tip the balance of the match in favour of his man by throwing in a set of brass knuckles, but they landed on the mat and Gilbert kicked them back out of the ring before going after Hart. Adams could be seen loading up the Superkick on the outside to blindside Gilbert, but Hot Stuff suddenly tossed Hart towards Adams, and the challenger had to pull back at the last second to avoid Superkicking his manager. Adams and Gilbert continued to slug it out at ringside until the bell rang, signaling a double count out. Hart looked like he was about to explode as he led his man back to the locker room.

Smothers wins the battle of the Southern Boys and sends Armstrong packing. This feud has elevated Smothers and he could be a serious contender for the CA title. 

Cameron is on an impressive streak. 

Randy Rose becomes another victim of the Heart Punch and does the stretcher job. Then we find out Red is leaving! What a classy and strong way to exit. Because of you, Texas Red is going to be a big player in this game. I see quite the future for this young big man. And British Steel gets a nice rub. 

Playboy Club still has some fight left as Cabin Fever found out. Never count Buddy Rose out as I'm sure he'll regroup and be ready for 1986. 

After causing a lot of havoc in Pacific, Jake is gone! Brigade took a lot of beatings from Jake and co. but in the end they come out the winners. Can the Brigade ride this momentum into the new year? I would bet on it. 

YES! We get a taste of Gilbert vs. Adams and judging by the result, it looks like we're going to be in for a wild ride. This has the potential to be one of those talked about feuds for years to come.

Leo Burke vs. Lanny Poffo

 

After a very tightly contested technical matchup, Burke was ultimately able to put Poffo away with the Sleeper Hold

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. The Hart Foundation

 

After coming so close to beating the Harts last week, British Steel were granted a rematch. The result was an incredibly exciting bout, with the Hart Foundation doing everything they could to put the young upstarts down and British Steel equally determined to get the win. It looked like they just might pull it off with Brookside hit a running cross body press on Neidhart, but the Anvil countered with a rollover and put his feet on the ropes to get the one two three. They may have fallen short this time, but I am sure there are big things on the horizon for the young English gentlemen

 

The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) & Jerry Blackwell vs. Mando, Chavo & Hector Guerrero

 

Strangely, the Thundercats were not teaming up with their regular partner, Larry Cameron. Regardless, the Mountain From Stone Mountain was a profoundly intimidating presence on their side, and the Guerreros did everything they could to avoid locking up with him. Eventually, their time ran out when Scorpio whipped the big Crusher into an Avalanche on Hector, and the oddly matched trio won the bout.

 

California Title Match : Bob Orton © vs. Brutus Beefcake

 

In this hard hitting match between the Cowboy and the Bay Area Brawler, Orton was able to defend his title after catching Beefcake with a lariat

Special Announcement from Pacific Coast Wrestling

After an especially successful and rewarding 1985, PCW are looking forward with great anticipation to 1986. By way of celebration of the past, present and future of PCW, we will be marking this with a special show. On January 1st, from Vancouver, we will be broadcasting a special extra length edition of Pacific Wrestling Showcase on ESPN and TSN. We will be honouring the past and present with some big matches, as well as celebrating the future with several debuts. The matches will be released in time, but there is a great main event planned : Eddie Gilbert defending the Pacific Heavyweight Title against none other than one half of the Hart Foundation, Bret "The Hitman" Hart! We look forward to seeing all of you at the matches.

Busick and Bam Bam score a HUGE win over the Freebirds! The champs better be watching out for this powerhouse team. 

Nice to see Burke pick up a solid win over Leaping Lanny.

British Steel put in another valiant effort but the Hart Foundation just have that experience factor going for them. 

Thundercats find a surprise partner in Jerry Blackwell. It pays off as they get a big win over the Guerreros. I wonder where Cameron was? 

Orton retains again, this time over the popular Beefcake. 

The New Year's Show sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Great way to finish off 85 and kick off 86. 

I really like the direction Pacific is heading.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, December 25^th

 

Loser Leaves Town Match : Brutus Beefcake vs. Tracy Smothers

 

After Smothers interfered in his match last week, Beefcake declared that PCW wasn't big enough for the two of them, and demanded a Loser Leaves Town match to settle the matter. Word has it that Missy Hyatt was not pleased at his rash action, but accompanied him to the ring and loudly gave her support during the match. For a while, Smothers seemed to regret what he stirred up, as Beefcake came at him with a lot of aggression. He did get in a few flurries of offense, but for the most part, Smothers was backpedaling from the enraged Beefcake. Ultimately, Beefcake had Smothers trapped in the corner and was raining down punches on him, until the ref forced a separation. While the ref provided the distraction, Smothers stealthily removed the padding from the top turnbuckle. When Beefcake came charging back in with the Final Cut (running kneelift), Smothers dodged out of the way at the last second, and Beefcake went hard with his knee into the corner bolt. Beefcake was clearly in agony as Smothers rolled him up, grabbing a handful of tights for leverage as the ref made a three count. A sad end to a great run in PCW. Beefcake may have come in as the rambunctious younger brother of Hulk Hogan, but had gained the respect of the Pacific Coast audience. Missy Hyatt helped him to his feet and embraced him before he said his goodbyes and thanked the fans, who gave him a round of applause as a farewell.

 

Larry Cameron vs. Mr. Hito

 

Not too long ago, "Lethal" Larry Cameron had a series of matches with Mr. Hito where, after some initial setbacks, he truly came into his own. This time out, though, things seemed a lot different. There was a distinct edge of viciousness to Cameron as he took on the Japanese veteran. Where in his first matches, he was rash, tonight he was calculating. He tore through Hito like tissue paper, devastating him with a series of power moves before finishing him off with the Harlem Hammer. But Cameron still wasn't satisfied, and after the three count, he dragged Hito out of the ring, pulled up the ringside mats, and gave Hito a brutal piledriver on the concrete. Hito was taken out on a stretcher and Cameron seemed as satisfied with himself as the fans were shocked. First, Cameron is missing from the side of his fellow Thundercats, and now this. What on earth is happening with Larry Cameron?

 

The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) vs. Flamboyance (Ron Starr & Lanny Poffo)

 

Speaking of the Thundercats, they have been doing alright for themselves in spite of their missing member. The had an exciting and fast paced match against Flamboyance and ultimately prevailed when Scorpio hit a top rope splash on Poffo. However, it has just recently been announced that the Thundercats would be facing a mystery team that would debut at the PCW New Years Day Special. What challenge faces the Thundercats in the New Year? Stay tuned to find out!

 

Chris Adams vs. Robbie Brookside

 

Adams hasn't exactly been making many friends outside of the members of Gary Hart International, but for some reason, Brookside seemed particularly angry with him. Brookside had the ringside support of his British Steel partner Steve Regal, who seemed equally upset with Adams. As the match went on, Adams' manager Gary Hart summoned the Hart Foundation for backup, and they tried to intimidate Regal. But Regal stood his ground and refused to back down , even in the face of superior numbers. Brookside maintained a focus on the match in front of him, blocking out the drama at ringside, but eventually was blindsided by a  lightning quick clothesline from Chris Adams, followed by a Superkick for the win. After the match, Adams continued to argue with the members of British Steel, leading to a brawl when the Hart Foundation got involved. British Steel did their best, but were at a numbers disadvantage until Eddie Gilbert and Badd Company rushed out and Gary Hart's men scattered. Adams may be aiming for Gilbert's Pacific Heavyweight Title, but may well have to deal with the ire of his fellow countrymen sooner rather than later.

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Cabin Fever (Grizzly Boone & Manny Fernandez) vs. Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski

 

The Playboy Club has lost a lot at the hands of Cabin Fever : the Pacific Tag Team Titles, Billy Jack Haynes, Doug Somers. But it seems like they have had enough, as they came out for this match ready to throw down. The champs were joined by their Crazy Gang leader Bob Orton, but that only seemed to make the Playboy Club double their efforts. "The Polish Prince" Ed Wiskowski in particular took on the terrifying Grizzly Boone, going toe to toe and refusing to knuckle under to the huge mountain man. It seemed like they just might pull it off when Rose had Fernandez set up for the Inside Out Backbreaker, so Bob Orton took matters into his own hands, rushing into the ring and clotheslining Rose from behind. As the ref called for the DQ, the Crazy Gang , errr, ganged up on Rose until "Easy" Ed charged in, swinging a chair to run them off. Rose then got on the mic and challenged the Crazy Gang to face them and a partner of his choosing at the New Years Day Special, which the Crazy Gang laughingly accepted. Rose has a reputation as one of the most cunning competitors in wrestling. What trick does he have up his sleeve this time?
