rainmakerrtv
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN , September 27th The Hart Brothers vs. The Assassins The matchup of the brutal Assassins against the technically savvy Harts certainly made for an action packed bout, but that wasn't the real story of this bout. The most notable thing that happened was when the Freebirds made their way to ringside and attacked JR Foley. After brutalizing the sinister manager, Terry Gordy gave him a vicious piledriver on the concrete, after which Buddy Roberts took the big gold ring from Foley's finger and put it on his own, cackling all the while. After the Freebirds tore off to the back, the Assassins finally noticed that their manager was unconscious at ringside and tried to figure out what happened. The Harts immediately took advantage of their distraction and double dropkicked them out of the ring, leading to their victory by countout. After their underhanded attack on the Brigade last week, it looks like the Freebirds are attacking from all sides, and it's anyone's guess as to who will be next on their list. Leo Burke & Gypsy Joe vs. Jake Roberts & "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Last week, Burke and his new partner Gypsy Joe made a big impact by defeating the Starr "Cousins" . This time out, the would be facing their partner, "Diamond" Timothy Flowers, and the always dangerous Jake Roberts. Flowers wound up getting the worst of this match, getting badly hammered by the fists of Burke and Gypsy. Roberts seemed clearly displeased by Flowers' performance, scowling on the ring apron, but only when Burke got him locked in the Sleeper Hold did he decide to intervene, summoning in the Starrs to attack and causing a DQ loss for his team. He helped Flowers up after the match , but was obviously not happy with him. Keiichi Yamada vs. Masanobu Fuchi Yamada has been on a real tear since joining up with Hiro Saito and looked to continue that momentum in tonight's match. The experienced Japanese star Fuchi was certainly not going to roll over for Yamada, going toe to toe and exchanging vicious chops and kicks, as well as dueling submission holds. In the end, it was the high flying side of Yamada's offense that would prevail, as he defeated Fuchi with a top rope missile dropkick. Word has it that Yamada is looking to go on a run to get a World Light Heavyweight Title shot. If so, he is certainly off to a good start. Ed Wiskowski vs. Phil LaFleur Although Buddy Rose may no longer have the Pacific Heavyweight Title, that isn't stopping the individual members from challenging for it. The brutal Polish Prince has made his claim on the top contendership and looked to back that up in his match with one half of the French Revolution, Phil LaFleur. The tag champ certainly did his best, but the sheer power and viciousness of Wiskowski was too much for him, and the face first piledriver brought the victory to the Prince. Wiskowski looked do to more damage after the match, but Dino Bravo rushed out to rescue his partner. Roddy Piper looks to be in for a rough ride as champion. Loser Leaves Town Match : Nord The Barbarian vs. Hulk Hogan Nord and Larry Zbyszko have both been waging a war on the Hulkster and this is where it all comes to a head. Both men and their manager, KY Wakamatsu, threw everything but the proverbial kitchen sink at Hogan, but he still kept coming after them. Larry and Wakamatsu even tried to double up on him with the dreaded megaphone, but he caught them and smashed their heads together. This opened a chance, however, for Nord, who took advantage of the distraction by blindsiding Hogan with a lariat. It looked like it was all over for the Hulkster as Nord launched the Bombs Away kneedrop. But it turned out that Hulk was just playing possum as he rolled out of the way just in time. He took Nord down again with an Axe Bomber, then hit the Big Knee Drop. One two three, and Nord is gone from Pacific Coast. Larry Z could clearly be seen gulping in fear as his last line of defence was gone. He would now have to face the Hulkster one on one. Blehschmidt
Loving the 'Birds hitting ringside and destroying Foley without The Assassins even knowing what hit him! Yamada vs Super Black Ninja for the Lightweight Title would be quite the match! Nord put up quite the fight, but the Hulkster was just too much handle Brother! I'll take good care of Nord! spaldoni
The Freebirds have gone rogue in the AWA! Nobody is safe! Oh man Flowers doesn't want to get on Jake's bad side. He better start getting some wins LOL. Yamada would be an awesome contender to the LHW title. The Polish Prince looks ready for a shot at Piper. Hogan sends Nord packing! Larry Z is in serious trouble. Flowers bad luck continues as Chavo beats him. Billy Jack gets the fall on Slater as him and Texas Red get some redemption. I like that Taylor/Vachon finish. Clever. Guerreros retain against the Royal Family. Polish Prince gets the fall in a big 6 man tag. This sets Wiskowski up as a serious threat to Piper and the title. rainmakerrtv
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , October 4th Leo Burke, Gypsy Joe & The Hart Brothers vs. Jake Roberts, "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & The Starr "Cousins" Timothy Flowers just hasn't had any good luck of late, and that downward trend certainly continued in this match. Burke, Gypsy and the Harts were all over him throughout the match, with Flowers unable to make the tag to get some respite. Jake Roberts was giving him a disgusted look during the course of the match, eventually giving the Starr's orders to make no effort to tag in. Flowers eventually went down to a nasty running uppercut from Gypsy Joe that meant the end of the match. Roberts came in the ring right afterwards and helped up Flowers, only to take him down again with a DDT. Evidently the Diamond Starr Corporation are done, as the only response from his now former partners was a look of contempt from Ron Starr and snickering from Chicky. But the humiliation was not done for Flowers, as the moment Roberts and the Starrs left the ring, the Fabulous Freebirds rushed the ring and plucked the big gold ring from his hand. After Michael Hayes put the ring on his own finger, the three Freebirds viciously put the boots to Flowers until security cleared them out. In the end, poor Flowers ended up being taken out of the ring on a stretcher. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Super Strong Machine For all of his questionable tactics, Terry Taylor has been ducking no challengers as TV Champion. His latest challenge would be the always tough Japanese superstar, Super Strong Machine. Machine clearly had no time for Taylor's shenanigans as he was all business , going right after Taylor with blistering chops and jarring kicks. Taylor was on the defensive early but took the low road to get back the advantage, going after Machine's mask by tearing and pulling at it to distract him. This ultimately enraged Machine, who started going after Taylor full bore, but this wound up playing into Taylor's hands. Taylor lured him into a vicious knee shot to the midsection, which set up Machine for a Fivearm and the wrong side of the referee's count. Say what you will for Taylor's change of methods, but they have certainly gotten results. Texas Red vs. Dick Slater The feud between the Marauders and the tandem of Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red just keeps rolling on in this singles match. Both men had their partners in their corner but seemed laser focused on each other. Slater seems to be one of the few wrestlers not intimidated by Red, as he went after the towering Texan with both guns blazing. Red fought back with equal intensity and the battle went back and forth. It looked like Slater just might pull it off until Red sent him down hard to the mat with a flying lariat. He then dragged up Slater to get him ready for his dreaded Heart Punch, only to be clipped from behind by Matt Borne. The ref called for the DQ and the Marauders worked over Red's leg until Haynes dashed into the ring to run them off. Billy Jack helped Red up, but the Texan was clearly limping as he returned to the locker room. The Vachon Brothers vs. The Royal Family The Vachons are coming off their brutal feud with the Assassins, and the nasty Antipodean duo of Boyd and Morgan were clearly not going to let the brothers catch their breath in this match. Both sides went at it fast and furious, with the match threatening to break down into complete chaos several times. Things finally fell apart when the ref tried to get in between Mad Dog and Rip Morgan and getting slugged by both men for his troubles. Despite the double DQ finish, both sides wanted to keep going. Looks like the Vachons might have gone straight from the frying pan to the fire and , strangely enough, they seem to like it that way. Hulk Hogan vs. Larry Zbyszko After spending the last while taking pot shots at Hogan while hiding behind Nord The Barbarian, Larry Z would have no such safety net this time out. With Nord sent packing last week, Larry would have to face the Hulkster all by himself. While he did have his manager KY Wakamatsu in his corner, Larry was clearly quaking in his boots when Hogan came out. He did everything he could to put off locking up with him, but Hogan finally caught with him and started tossing him around the ring. Larry kept trying to come back with short cut moves but Hogan would not be held off by that for long. Larry finally caught a lucky break when he ducked under an Axe Bomber which hit the ref. He tried to take advantage of this, but a big fist from Hogan sent him to the mat. Then Wakamatsu came into the ring but Hogan sent him and his megaphone out with violent force. But then, out of nowhere , a mysterious man appeared in the ring behind Hogan. The Hulkster turned around to face him, only to catch a face full of green mist! Hogan staggered around until the mystery man caught him on the chin with a lightning quick spin kick and Hulk went down. Larry crawled over and covered him, and the ref had recovered enough to count the one two three. Larry Zbyszko just beat Hulk Hogan! The crowd was in shock as Larry, Wakamatsu and the mystery man dashed out of the ring before Hogan could come to his senses, but you just know that the Hulkster will be out for vengeance, and soon. SirEdger
I think Kendo Nagasaki is a great fit to be a Larry Z goon. I feel like he's gonna give him a major title in no time. spaldoni
Oh man poor Timothy Flowers! Jake DDT's him and that's followed by a Freebird beat down and Hayes even took the ring. Lov'n Terry Taylor as the TV champ. He retains against Machine and I'm sure is ready for more challengers. Vachons and Royal Family should be another wild feud. WOW! Even with a little help, Larry Z's win over Hogan is huge. Larry will be bragging about this for the rest of his career LOL. We find out it was Kendo Nagasaki who helped Larry! Talk about a dangerous alliance. The Guerreros are looking sharp. I was looking forward to Piper defending against Easy Ed and it didn't disappoint. Piper gets the C.O win but I'm sure there will be more to come.

rainmakerrtv
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , October 11th The Hart Brothers vs. The Royal Family The team of Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan has been on a bit of a tear since arriving in Pacific Coast, leaving a trail of battered and bruised opponents regardless of whether they won or lost the match. The Hart Brothers certainly put in a game effort against the Royal Family, using their speed and teamwork to try to keep the Antipodean brawlers off balance. In the end, they fell short when Bruce went for a cross body block on Morgan, only to be caught and have it turned into a powerslam to give the win to the Royals. Things took a strange turn when the Royal Family were returning to the locker room, only to have their way blocked by the Fabulous Freebirds, sporting their usual evil grins. At first, it seemed like it might be a repeat of the beatdowns of the past few weeks, but Boyd simply looked over at Morgan, shrugged, and tossed his gold ring to Michael Hayes, who passed it over to Terry Gordy before letting the Royal Family go on their way. Strange business, but now the Freebirds have 3 of the 4 gold rings. Dino Bravo vs. Doug Somers Doug Somers and Buddy Rose have been waging a concerted campaign to get the AWA Pacific Tag Titles from the French Revolution, but have thus far been unsuccessful. The Army still have not let up, and throughout this singles match was the constant threat that Somers and Bravo's respective partners might make an appearance for interference. That didn't take place, but Somers and Bravo still put on a hard hitting bout that ended when Bravo was finally able to execute the side suplex on Somers. Something tells me that the Army still won't let up until they get what they want. The Assassins vs. Sekou Bunch & Billy Garcia The Assassins were last seen a couple of weeks ago dealing with their manager, JR Foley, having been assaulted by the Freebirds. Well, it looks like that will be the last we see of Foley, as the Assassins are now being managed by none other than Sheikh Adnan Al Kaissie. The Sheikh seems to be encouraging the masked men's considerable vicious streak, as they whalloped Bunch and Garcia from pillar to post before Assassin #1 forced Bunch to give up to the Assassin Lock. He even held him up long after the end of the match, with Bunch screaming to be let go, before dropping the rookie hard to the match. With all of the changes going on in Pacific Coast, the arrival of the Sheikh adds a dangerous new element to the mix. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my guest this week recently lost and extremely controversial decision to Larry Zbyszko … former AWA World Champion, Hulk Hogan! The crowd explodes in cheers as "Eye Of The Tiger" plays over the arena PA and the Hulkster heads to the ring. While he does take time to high five the fans on his way, he has an extremely somber look on his face. Bonnema : Hulk Hogan, I can only imagine how upset you are right now, having lost to Larry Zbyzko due to the interference of the man we now know to be Kendo Nagasaki. Hogan : Well , y'know, Big Frank, I should have expected it. I ran the big Barbarian out of town, but there was no way Larry Z was going to face me on his own. I should have known that coward was going to run for help, but I sure wasn't expecting Kendo. Bonnema : Which raises the question, Hulk Hogan, how are you going to deal with being outnumbered? Not only do you have to deal with Larry and his manager, KY Wakamatsu, but Kendo Nagasaki can clearly strike at you from out of nowhere at any time. Hogan : It's not going to be easy, Big Frank. But the Hulkster has never been afraid of numbers. And if I have to be the one to watch my own back, well then … Hogan is cut off as, out of nowhere, "Eye Of The Tiger" once again plays over the arena PA. A tall, muscular blonde man heads out to the ring. He also high fives the fans, but they clearly have no idea who he is or what is going on. Hogan at first looks confused, then annoyed as the stranger enters the ring. Stranger : Hey hey, Hulkster, have no fear, your brother, Eddie Hogan, has come to the rescue! Hulk : * in a very low, almost threatening tone * Hello, Eddie. Eddie : All is good, my brother ! I heard what happened and it just wasn't right. Nobody should have to stand alone, and since blood is thicker than water, I just knew I had to be the one to watch your back. Wherever you go, I'll go, and you won't have to worry about Larry the Loser's band of goons jumping you from behind. It's the least I can do. Hulk : *at first shaking his head, then composing himself * Y'know, I can work with that. Larry, you don't know what kind of trouble you are in. So bring on your Japanese hit man. Eddie and I are more than a match for you. And what'cha gonna do when the Hogan Family runs wild on you? The two Hogans pose in the ring to the cheers of the fans, although Hulk continued to look annoyed when Eddie got too close to him. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Hiro Saito Terry Taylor continues his run as TV champ by taking on another Japanese star, in this case Hiro Saito. Saito clearly had no patience or time for Taylor's usual shenanigans, coming at the champion with an aggression that Taylor had not yet faced in his time with the title. Showing the cunning that has been the trademark of his title reign, Taylor was able to keep from being overwhelmed by Saito, dodging his high flying moves and rolling out of his attempted submission hold. He was ultimately able to block an attempt at a gutwrench suplex, and then counter with a rollup that was assisted by a fistful of tights to again keep a hold on his title belt. Business as usual, then, for Taylor, until suddenly there was a commotion at ringside. Taylor reacted first with shock, then outrage when he saw that Tom Zenk was standing outside the ring, staring daggers at him. Taylor's former partner had not been seen since he had left him to be beaten by the Royal Family, and he certainly wasn't pleased to see his return. Taylor loudly insisted that Zenk be sent away from the ring, but Zenk simply continued staring at him before leaving on his own accord. Can a title shot be far behind? rainmakerrtv
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, October 18th Eddie Hogan vs. Nick Stanbury After making his first Pacific Coast appearance last week, this was the first televised opportunity to see Eddie Hogan in the ring. While his big brother was there at ringside cheering him on, Hulk Hogan still seemed somewhat apprehensive watching him in the ring. Nevertheless, Eddie easily dominated the rookie Stansbury with a series of impressive power moves before polishing him off with a running high knee. Good enough for this match, but we will see how well this works against the veteran cunning of Larry Z and Kendo. Tom Zenk & Al Perez vs. The Starr "Cousins" The members of the Brigade have been largely absent from Showcase for the past few weeks, ever since being attacked by the Fabulous Freebirds, but two of the younger members make their return against the always devious Starrs. Zenk and Perez took a bit of time to get back in synch, but when they did, they got the fans into the match with their swift double teams and impressive moves. There was an interruption when Terry Taylor, sporting his TV Title belt and usual soulless grin, showed up at ringside to observe. Tom Zenk didn't let that distract him as he took Chicky Starr out with a top rope missile dropkick to bring the win to his team, but clearly a showdown between him and Taylor is coming sooner or later. The Fabulous Freebirds vs. JP Calderon, Anh-tuan Bui & Brad Virata Most of the Freebirds appearances thus far on Showcase have been from ambush, but here the TV viewers would get their first chance to see them in a regular match, and they certainly lived up to their fearsome reputation. Roberts easily outclassed his rookie opposition in the ring, Hayes proved equally adept at riling up both the fans and the opposing wrestlers, and Gordy was simply a wrecking ball, demolishing any wrestler who got in his way. It was Gordy who got the victory, dropping Bui on his head with a huge piledriver before he forced him to give up to the Asiatic Spike. The Freebirds have been causing chaos with their sneak attacks, but are clearly just as dangerous, if not more so, when faced head on. AWA Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Hector & Mando Guerrero © vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi These two teams recently faced off in a house show match and once again clashed for the Golden State Tag Titles on Showcase. Just like last time, it was a tight and hotly contested match, with the hard striking and Japanese strong style of Hito and Fuchi providing a formidable challenge for the high flying and technical expertise of the Guerreros. Also like last time, this match would end in a draw, in this case a double count out when the action spilled to the outside. We definitely have not seen the last of this pairing. Dick Slater vs. Texas Red The feud between The Marauders and Texas Red and Billy Jack Haynes rolls on into this bout. Red seemed determined to show that, although he now had the support of the fans, he had lost none of his edge. He came at Slater with a ferocity that seemed to catch "Dirty" Dick off guard, and no matter what Slater tried, he couldn't seem to make a dent in the big Texan. Red looked set to take the victory when he had Slater set up for his devastating Heart Punch, but Matt Borne charged into the ring just in time to take Red down by clipping his leg from behind. The two Marauders worked over his leg as the ref called for the DQ until Billy Jack rushed in and ran them off. Billy Jack helped his partner from the ring, but Red was very clearly limping as he did so.

spaldoni
LOL, Eddie Hogan runs wild on TV as big brother Hulk watches. Cant wait until the Hogan's team up and face Larry Z and Kendo. The Taylor/Zenk situation is heating up. Freebird's finally show off their skills in the ring as they simply squash their poor opponents. I hope the Guerreros and Hito/Fuchi wrestle forever. Texas Red gives Slater a fight but Borne interferes and Billy Jack is right behind. A gimmick match might be needed to resolve this one. Assassins put down the Harts. The Harts have fallen on hard times recently. French Revolution are in the midst of a great reign and that continues with a title defense over the Royal Family. rainmakerrtv
Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , October 25th Rip Morgan vs. Butcher Vachon The tag team rankings have been heating up of late, and both the Royal Family and the Vachon Brothers have been fighting hard to claim a title shot for themselves. This time out, they would be facing off in singles action, with the veteran Butcher meeting the powerful Rip Morgan. Needless to say, this was a wild and brutal match, with Vachon withstanding a hurricane of offense from the big New Zealander and dishing out plenty of damage on his own. In the end, however, Morgan was able to wear him down enough to line him up for a flying lariat and finally get the hard fought victory. The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Mike Rotunda, Dan Spivey & Al Perez When the Freebirds started their Pacific Coast roaring rampage, the Brigade were their first victims. Having recently made their return, the younger men were looking to get some payback. The Freebirds certainly weren't about to go easy on them, but the Brigade got the better of a number of exchanges, with Perez showing his technical expertise to keep a lid on the crazy Buddy Jack , and Rotunda and Spivey knocking Hayes around with some big double team power moves. But in the end, it was classic Freebird mind games, drawing in the Brigade and forcing the ref to send Rotunda and Perez back to their corner while they got their own triple team spike piledriver on Spivey. The Freebirds streak keeps going, but the Brigade remains hot on their tails. The Marauders vs. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red Last week, the Marauders did some damage on Texas Red's leg with a nasty sneak attack. This time out, they were looking to capitalize on that and kept going after his injured leg. They kept working him over, focusing on the leg and keeping Billy Jack from coming in to the rescue. It was starting to look like they were finally going to destroy the until now unstoppable rookie when something seemed to go off in Red and he gave them a blank, terrifying stare. He grabbed Slater by the throat and started throttling him. Borne rushed in, but Red simply grabbed him by the throat with his other hand and started choking both of them. For all they flailed at him, the Marauders could not break free of his tight double give. Eventually, Red drove Slater hard into the corner turnbuckle, then nailed Borne with the Heart Punch. He then grabbed Slater and gave him the Heart Punch for good measure before covering him for the pin. Texas Red was shuddering as he made his way to his feet, and Billy Jack helped him out of the ring, clearly concerned for his partner. Hulk Hogan & Eddie Hogan vs. Larry Zbyzko & Kendo Nagasaki It's been a few weeks since Eddie Hogan declared his intention to help his brother against Larry Z and Kendo. This would be his first chance to do so in a tag match and it frequently seemed like his enthusiasm and desire to help out was a conspicuous detriment. He kept rushing into the ring and having to be escorted out by the ref, allowing Larry and Kendo to double team the Hulkster. Otherwise, he would stay in the ring so long, looking to prove himself, that he made it difficult for his big brother to help him. The match wound up breaking down to all four men in the ring at once, and KY Wakamatsu threw in his megaphone to Larry, only for it to be intercepted by Eddie. So far so good, but Eddie then clobbered Larry with the megaphone right in front of the ref , giving the match to Larry and Kendo by DQ. Eddie protested this, but Hulk got him to calm down. The Hulkster if will need to calm down his rambunctious younger brother a lot more if they are going to win out over Wakamatsu's men. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Ed Wiskowski These two have been going at it ever since shortly after Piper won the big belt, and this would be their highest profile match yet. "Playboy" Buddy Rose was at ringside, supporting his stablemate and shouting insults at Piper. Piper couldn't be bothered with Rose since he had his hands full with the powerful "Polish Prince". Wiskowski inflicted more damage than anyone else Piper had faced, rocking him with brutal punches and dropping him on his head with huge slams. Piper kept sniping away at Wiskowski, trying to chip through his defenses and find a weakness, but it seemed like time was running out for the Hot Scot. The balance tipped when Buddy Rose jumped up on the ring apron to sneak a shot in on Piper while Wiskowski had him in a headlock, but Piper kicked off on Rose and sent him tumbling to the floor, then used the momentum to roll up Wiskowski and just barely get the one two three. Piper was still the champion, but he didn't get time to celebrate as a commotion broke out at the back of the arena. The spotlight came on it, and there stood the Fabulous Freebirds! Remembering their recent actions, Rose started waving his hands around, showing that he was not wearing the last of the Big Gold Rings, but Hayes shook his head, indicating he had no interest in the "Playboy". Instead he pointed at Piper, then pointed at Terry Gordy. The Freebirds were making a challenge for the Heavyweight Title! Piper was so exhausted, he could barely acknowledge the challenge, but Gordy looked like he was going after him, only to be held back by Hayes, who slapped Gordy's chest and laughed menacingly. It looks like Hot Rod has just gone from the frying pan to the fire.
