Dirty White Boys officially become number 1 contenders! Going to be cool watching them match up with Fuller and Golden.

Oh man, Rogers wins the US Jr. title as a mysterious (LOL) mask man hits Armstrong with a coke bottle!

WOW! Fuji's men Kendo and Kabuki take things to another level with that beatdown.

Cooley's streak continues as he puts down Garvin.

Fuller and Golden send the Assassins packing.

Awesome Light heavy match that steals the show. I think we're going to get a rematch after that slap.

Wild 6 man main event. Bullet Bob might of earned himself another title shot after scoring the pin on Flair. Humungous and Haystacks are heading for a colossal showdown.

The Masked Thunderbolt- Love it.

Nightmares go full on heel with an attack on the Rat Patrol. Nightmares as heels will fit in so perfectly here.

WOW! Kendo and Kabuki win the titles! Fuji has defiantly taken these guys to another level.

Ambulance Match, classic! Didn't see that turn as Stomper turns on his partners. Then again, Stomper is tailor made for the Paul Jones Army LOL.

Always something happening in SECW!

AWA Southeastern Championship

Wrestling Television

WTVY Ch. 4 Studio

Dothan, Alabama

Airing at 5:30pm on Saturday June 1, 1984

Hosted by Charlie Platt & Ronnie P. Gossett

Interviews: Rick Stewart

AWA Southeastern Commissioner: Les Thatcher

TV Recap:

Promos/Angles

  • Platt and Gossett discuss the Mongolian Stomper turning on his team mates this past week specifically Mr. Olympia who has asked for a match tonight at the Houston County Farm Center and has been granted one by Les Thatcher, Paul Jones comes out and formally announces that the Mongolian Stomper is now part of his army and he will be in Stomper's corner tonight when he faces Olympia.

  • We see footage of the Nightmares heinous post match attack on Steve Armstrong/Johnny Rich from Tuscaloosa last night and we then hear from the Rat Patrol who are enraged over this situation and promise revenge on Danny Davis and Ken Wayne for the unprovoked attack!

  • Scott Armstrong comes out and tells the fans that he knows good and well that the so-called "Masked Thunderbolt" that cost him his U.S. Jr. Title is Larry Hamilton and that he's been granted a match against him tonight, Rip Rogers comes out and says that Armstrong is wrong that he has it on good authority that the "Masked Thunderbolt" is indeed Thunderbolt Patterson, he just doesn't want everyone to see how old he looks now…..this lead to a shoving match and Les Thatcher coming out and making a match here today on tv between Scott Armstrong and Rip Rogers for the U.S. Jr. Championship.

  • Mr. Fuji brings out the new Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Great Kabuki/Kendo Nagasaki along with Super Ninja. Fuji says they beat up the Midnight Express and Tojo so bad, we'll never see them again…then he says that beating Fuller/Golden was just the beginning and that he has pulled off something huge that he will reveal very soon that will turn Southeastern Championship Wrestling upside down…..in the midst of the promo the Fullers and Jimmy Golden stormed out and demanded a rematch for the tag titles….Fuji told them if they could beat them in a six man tag team match tonight, they could have a rematch right here on tv next week….and that he would even ban himself from ringside for that title match if they could beat them in a six man tag tonight….Ron Fuller eagerly agreed….but as he went to leave, Kabuki sprayed the green mist in his eyes and he had to be helped from the studio.

  • AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion Dynamite Kid was in the studio today and said that he gets to tag with Ric Flair tonight against Bob and Brad Armstrong….if the Armstrongs win, then Bob gets a title shot against Flair at June Jam and Brad gets a shot against him at June Jam….BUT if he and Flair win….the Armstrongs don't get ANY title shots for the next 90 days. Flair comes out and says that pound for pound the Dynamite Kid may be the greatest wrestler in the sport today…..aside from himself of course and that there's no question that the two of them will own the Armstrongs tonight and they will be off their radar for the next 90 days!  Jake Roberts is out as well and he says tonight that he will be putting his Alabama title on the line against Wendell Cooley and his Mississippi title in a 'Clash of the Champions/Winner takes All' Match and that he will have two belts when we see him next week….he also mentions that it's time for Les Thatcher to lift the ban on the DDT.

  • A highlight video of the AWA World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors airs and it's announced they will be defending those titles next week at the June Jam in Ft. Payne!

Flair: "Do you people finally understand?? Nobody can stop us!! We own the AWA and there's nothing ANYBODY can do about it!!! You understand that?? Nobody can stop us!!"

Suddenly the opening chords of a familiar tune echo through the arena…..it's 'Freebird'!!! And after a brief moment Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, and Buddy Roberts come storming down the aisle and hit the ring with baseball bats …..and after a few good shots with the bats, Paul Jones and his Army retreat as Michael Hayes asks for a mic…

freebirds.gif

Hayes: "Ric Flair, you boys don't run shit! Do YOU understand that??  Did you think you were really gonna pull that stunt in Texas and we wouldn't come find your ass in Alabama??  I don't care if we have to run through everybody in this so called Army…..we'll get to you and we'll get our revenge but next week at the June Jam, you're gonna be busy with the Bullet it seems but you send any of the rest of these clowns down to Badstreet and we'll show you who runs things in the AWA!"

Well, well, well....business just picked up here in Southeastern!!

Akbar and Fuji together! Good Lord, it doesn't get much more devious than that!!

The Masked Thunderbolt being Patterson hiding his age makes a ton of sense. I am going with that!

I hope the Adrian Street/Rip Rogers feud is long term, cause that is a fantastic pairing!

What a freaking entrance for The Birds! I can't wait to see what you do with them. I am very excited to see them as babyfaces here in SECW.

Awesome stuff man.

I guess I better go make a post in the roster thread with our mega trade!!

WHOA! SECW is RED HOT!

I thought it was crazy when Skandor Akbar showed up and threw a fireball at Fuller! Then things went to another level when the Freebirds showed up! Oh man a Freebirds/Jones Army feud is going to rack in the money. What a night!!!

Just who is the Masked Thunderbolt? Love the mystery here.

Looks like we're going to get a Cooley/Snake feud for the titles. I'm all for that. Will the DDT ban be lifted?

Heels run rampant as Olympia and the Rat Patrol take a beating.

Humungous gets a huge win over Haystacks.

Looking forward to Dynamite vs. Brad and Flair vs. Bullet. June Jam cant come soon enough!

Wow. That's... that's a lot going on. First of all, Rat Patrol... they're not called "The Nightmares" because they're nice guys. You should've seen that coming.

I'm trying to wrap my head around a Ric Flair/Dynamite Kid tag team and it's tough to get there but it's worth the effort. Love the booking to give the heels a wide open shot like that, too.

And the Freebirds are home! Good lord, gonna be so much blood spilled in Georgia. I cannot wait.

Flair might be in some trouble.

Your midcard feuds are perfect Southeast and keeps the fans on the edge of their seats

Haystacks and Humongous would have been fun to watch

Great lineup!

Super Ninja is racking up the wins.

I really like creativity you added to the  Armstrong/Thunderbolt feud.

Rich and Armstrong get some payback over the Nightmares.

Oh yea I knew the mixed tag match was coming. Hard to beat the Street/Linda duo.

Freebirds debut with a win over credible vets

Wild match as the Bullet and Wildcat stand toe to toe with the monsters Stomper and Humungous.

Flair costs Brad his match with Jake. Flair better be careful because I'm sure Bullet will remember this during their upcoming match at June Jam.

The main event was worth the price of admission. Kendo and Kabuki get a BIG win over Golden and Rose. Fuji has his men looking unstoppable.

AWA Southeastern Championship

Wrestling Television

WTVY Ch. 4 Studio

Dothan, Alabama

Recorded on Saturday June 1, 1984

Airing at 1pm on Saturday June 8, 1984

Hosted by Charlie Platt & Ronnie P. Gossett

Interviews: Rick Stewart

AWA Southeastern Commissioner: Les Thatcher

TV Recap:

Promos/Angles

  • Show opens with Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett discussing The Armstrongs defeating Flair/Dynamite Kid…which will result in two title matches tonight at Alabama's June Jam 3 in Ft. Payne, Alabama will promises to be an enormous crowd based on the previous two events.  Gossett goes on to say that it was absolutely disgusting that those "idiots from Georgia" decided to show up and stick their nose in Paul Jones' business….and unfortunately they will be here in action today (which gets cheers from the studio audience).  Platt adds that Mr. Olympia was injured last week at the hands of Mongolian Stomper and Humongous and that hopefully next week we'll have an update on his condition.

  • Rip Rogers and Ms. Brenda came out and still insisted that Masked Thunderbolt is Thunderbolt Patterson and that Larry Hamilton has left the territory and "is probably North American Champion in Saskatoon by now".  Scott Armstrong and Adrian Street came out….Armstrong said he knew as soon as he locked up with "Masked Thunderbolt" he knew exactly who he is…and that tonight in Ft. Payne, he and Adrian have a big surprise for Rogers and his masked friend.

Akbar2.jpg

  • General Skandor Akbar comes out with Mr. Fuji and announces they have joined forces to assemble the most unstoppable version of Devastation Incorporated to date….Akbar says that everyone has already seen the destruction caused by Kabuki, Nagasaki, and the Super Ninja but starting today he will be adding new members beginning with this man…..the One Man Gang with more to come soon!  This brought out Jimmy Golden, Randy Rose, and Tojo Yamamoto…….Golden said that if they think they're going to get away with injuring the Fullers and Dennis Condrey without a fight…they are dead wrong…..they just came from Les Thatcher and demanded matches with any members of their team…..Thatcher said since Kabuki/Nagasaki will be challenging the Road Warriors for the World Tag Team titles…..Golden will face One Man Gang, and Rose will face the Super Ninja tonight at June Jam!

  • "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley is out speaking with Rick Stewart about having an open challenge for his Mississippi Heavyweight Championship tonight in Ft. Payne….when another new face strolled into the studio….the "Latin Lover" Al Madril!  Madril said it was honor to meet him, since he's not only the "Champion of Mississippi, but the Champion of stupid names!" What kind of name is Wendell? Cooley told Madril if he wanted a shot at his belt, he could skip the insults and challenge him like a man….Madril replied, "ok" and slapped Cooley in the face and a brawl broke out….leading Platt to call for a commercial break.

AlMadril.jpg

  • Confident from last week's win, the Nightmares come out to the desk and say they've been told that Armstrong/Rich apparently haven't gotten enough of getting beaten by the Nightmares so they want to "up the stakes"…The Nightmares say they want tonight's match at June Jam to be a 'Hair vs. Hair' match!  The Rat Patrol come out and tell them they accept!

  • Les Thatcher comes out and discusses everything that's went on in recent month's with Paul Jones' Army, as well as the previous Ric Flair/Bob Armstrong Southeastern Title match with interference from Jake Roberts and Humongous, and announces tonight's Southeastern Title match will take place in a STEEL CAGE!

  • Paul Jones comes out with Ric Flair, Jake Roberts, Humongous, and Mongolian Stomper along with the AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion the Dynamite Kid……Flair is irate that the match will be in a cage tonight but says it makes no difference because there's not an Armstrong alive that can pin his shoulders to the mat or make him submit…..which causes Dynamite Kid to get a little angry….DK insists last week was a fluke and that Brad Armstrong stands no chance of taking his title tonight and that it will be a cold day in hell when an Armstrong holds a World title…..Jones talks about how Humongous/Stomper/Roberts destroyed Mr. Olympia and Haystacks last week and tonight the Freebirds will be in…..and right back out of Southeastern when the Army is done with them!

Holy Crap! What a show!

The Gang makes an immediate impact and lays the squash on Jimmy Golden.

Another masked man distracts the mysterious masked man to give Armstrong and Street the win, this is getting confusing!!

Al Madril is a dirty heel! Big win right off the bat as he picks up the Mississippi Title. Glad I sent him your way, as you are using him way better than I did!

Nightmares get the shave job and I bet the 41k in attendance were absolutely loving it.

Brad wins the Lightweight Title! Awesome!

Freebirds take down the Army, and Gordy busts out the SPIKE!! to give the Humongous his first loss!!

A Road Warriors feud with Devastation Inc could be real interesting and real ugly....looking forward to it!

Bullet Bob beats Flair!!! Holy Shit! Wasn't expecting that at all!! That turned June Jam into a party!!

WOW! Great Show Dude!

and one comment about your TV show, it's a good thing that Frank Reynolds took the fall in that tag match, because the Blue Cyclone is the meanest wrassler the ring has ever known!!

If Super Ninja causes OMG and Fuji many more losses, I don't think he'll be long for this world!

Nice win for DWB over Bugsy.

The Mixed 6 Person would be quite the spectacle and would get over with the audience, great booking.

The Cooley/Madril feud is gonna be great, and a series of Count Outs around the loop is a great start.

The Nightmares get up is fantastic!

I can only imagine the 6 Man Grudge Match was a wild brawl.

Bullet takes down the Humongous!! Bob lets the world know this title reign is no fluke. Awesome!!

Oh man, I know Fuji wasn't happy with Super Ninja taking the fall and he shows it after the match.

Classic Southern  mixed person 6 man tag with the faces prevailing.

I'm really liking the Cooley/Madril feud and looks like we're going to get more.

LOL! I can just picture the Nightmares new look. That's a fun booking angle.

Freebirds and Jones Army continue their heated feud. It's always strange seeing Flair without a title.

WOW! Bullet Bob gets a BIG win over Humungous to retain.
