Events for September 14, 15 & 16th, 1984

Atlantic Coast Championship TV, September 14th, 1984, Sportatorium, Tampa, FL

To start the show, a VTR promo from Jos LeDuc is shown to hype his match this weekend versus Boris Zhukov in Miami on September 15. Leo Burke does the same for his match vs Dusty Rhodes and Buck Robley hypes his match vs Junkyard Dog on September 16.

-Randy Savage (w/Miss Elizabeth) beat Spencer Gladwin in 9:16 with the Macho Elbow. Postmatch, Savage was still incensed over Gino's recent actions:

"Gino Hernandez, I will say it for the last time: STAY AWAY FROM ELIZABETH! She wants nothing to do with you and next time you approach her, you're gonna a piece of the Madness. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? YOU BETTER! DIG IT!"

-In a 6-Men Tag, the team of Gino Hernandez & Stampede Rush defeated Dory Funk Jr & The Rock N' Roll RPMs in 23:16. After the match, Gino couldn't resist but to egg on Randy Savage...

"Randy, Randy, Randy....it's not my fault if I'm always in Liz's head. I can't control what goes in the ladies' mind. That's what happens when you've been graced with the looks of a Greek god like I've been. You know, Liz likes to play coy and be all shy but deep down, you both know that she can't resist me. Just give her time to come around, Randy, and you'll see for yourself! But tonight,  right here in Tampa, it's all about the gold and I'm taking back the Florida Heavyweight title from that loser Don Kernodle. The only reason he has it is because I got bored with it and let Konga have it. No more playing around. It comes back to my gorgeous waist tonight!"

-King Tonga beat Karter Raines in 11:54 with the 2nd rope diving headbutt

Gino's promos were gold! He just might be crazier than I thought, antagonizing Randy like that LOL.

Turn around of the week has got to go to Scott Casey. He wins a cage match over Graham  and then goes on a winning streak by beating Lane and Kabuki!

Mike Davis ends Kernodle's solid reign.

WOW! Travis upsets Dory Funk! Dory does get some revenge a couple nights later.

I'm all for a Konga/Purple Haze feud. Talk about a wild one.

Sweet! Looks like we're going to get Dusty and JYD vs. The Briscos!

Dory says he's ready to move on from Billy Travis and wants to be in contention for the Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Championship. That brings out Kernodle who says that Dory Funk Jr forgets that he's the former Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Champion. Also, since he's the Best Kernodle, that also means he's the smartest and you can't outsmart the Best Kernodle. Dory then asks Rocky who's behind him and when Rocky turns around, Dory smacks both of Rocky's ears with his hands. David Crockett tries to stifle some laughter as Dory Funk walks away, leaving Rocky seething!

-Florida Heavyweight Champion Mike Davis comes to the broadcast booth and Bob Caudle says there's speculation about him dodging contenders for his title. Caudle says that Eddie Gilbert & Dusty Rhodes both tried to get a title shot for this weekend and Davis refused. Davis says he needs to get some time to get adjusted, as he's primarily a tag team wrestler, he needs a learning curve. Eddie Graham  comes out and tells Davis that since he doesn't want to make a decision on his next challenger, Graham will make it for him. Graham orders Davis to face BOTH Eddie Gilbert & Dusty Rhodes tonight at the Armory in a Triangle Match for the Florida Heavyweight title! Davis doesn't have even time to complain that Graham walks off! Davis tries to plead his case while pursuing Eddie Graham!

-Buzz Tyler beat Kevin Kelly in 9:57. After the match, an irate Kelly jumps Buzz Tyler from behind. Kelly retreats outside and pulls off a pair of handcuffs from under the ring and ties Tyler to the bottom rope. Kelly then retrieves a pair of brass knuckles and starts pummeling Tyler! A slew of referees and wrestlers try to pry Kelly off Tyler and finally are able to do so. The crowd boos as Kelly is escorted to the back.

-In the feature bout of the week, Abdullah the Butcher beat Greg Valentine in 5:44 after Kevin Sullivan nailed Valentine with the Golden Spike! Those house shows were awesome with so many angles going on from the title changes to JYD being attacked in a parking lot and the Kevin Kelly attack on Dusty.  Your next TV show is going to crazy as everyone is going to a piece of somebody!!  Would love to see more of Rich coming after the Butcher for revenge.  Many of the people in Florida might have come to the event just to see Wildfire as he is rarely there and then his gets attacked by Butcher.  The Floridians want more Wildfire now

Enjoyed a lot of things here but Savage and GIno continues to be my favorite part of the reading... Savage vs. Barbarian would have been fun.

I like the use of Mike Davis here and thought you made a good move giving him the belt. Tremendously underrated and I enjoyed his stuff throughout his career all the way through Gobal... Well until he went crazy and got slingshot to the moon on a bungee cord and returned with a moon rock... For those unaware and think I'm making that up, no... that was a GWF angle...

Kevin Kelly is going berserk with the brass knuckles LOL. He sure is making a lot of enemies.

It was fun while it lasted for both Davis and Gilbert and now Abdullah is champ. You have to be always on guard in Florida.

Hoping Valentine reemerges in the main event scene and it looks like he might after getting beat down by Abdullah.

Tony Atlas comes to town and immediately wins a title!

And of course the Gino/Savage feud continues to be a highlight. The build has guaranteed a sell out for their inevitable match.

Kevin Kelly and his brass knucks are on a rampage here in ACCW

Savage/Gino continue to build towards a huge showdown.

JYD/Dusty will be looking for revenge on the Briscos I'm sure.

It will be interesting to see if Abby can hold onto the Florida title and end the "hot potato" streak it's on.

Tony Atlas makes a fine Atlantic Coast champion.

Great angle on the final night with Savage and Gino... Bonello as Miucho Macho is fun too...

Interesting to see someone Valentine's size wrestling 2 men... Shows how dangerous he is...

Former NWA World Champ Brisco needs 40 minutes to put away Mike Davis... I've always been a huge fan of Davis and followed him through the end of Global in the mid 90s but I don't know if I cant see Mike going 40 with someone the caliber of Brisco. I might have shaved that time in half, though I admire you trying to make Mike into a star. He can easily be much better than what he was given in real life.

LOL, Mucho Macho was just to much fun. Loved it! Also, great pay off as Gino uses this to his advantage on Savage.

Very cool to see Valentine moving back up in the main event scene.

Mike Davis is on the roll of a lifetime.

House of Humperdink has a strong threat and his name is Tony Atlas.

One thing for sure is that the Florida fans are never sure what to expect which makes it really fun.  I was wishing JYD had more then a day with the belt as I think he is someone to build around and get a huge feud going with someone.  Also was surprised Gino exited the Gauntlet Match so quick but that just goes to show you how wild and crazy the feud between Gino and Savage is right now.

LOL, Kelly keeps knocking people out with his roll of coins.

Dang Khruscher and Haze have one crazy brawl!

Charland comes to town and is already causing a lot of trouble.

JYD beats Savage for the title!!!! Savage needs to get his head back in the game and take care of Gino once and for all. Maybe this will happen at the New Year's Bash.

Humperdink says he wants to take control of this territory but he doesn't wanna risk getting killed in the process. Therefore, Humperdink banished Abdullah from his House. Humperdink says he isn't done yet and he needs to settle another thing as well. Humperdink turns to Konga and tells him that he caused more problems than impact since he was brought in. Humperdink believes Konga is also part of the problem and tells him his services are no longer required. Konga doesn't take it too well and slaps Humperdink! All hell breaks loose as Konga is able to fight back Sullivan, the Great Kabuki & The Purple Haze before putting the boots to Humperdink and leave. Will there be anything left of the House of Humperdink before the end of the year?

-Then, Bob Caudle and David Crockett welcome the newest addition to the Atlantic Coast roster, Jimmy Golden and Robert Fuller, aka the Stud Stable. Jimmy Golden says that obviously, Eddie Graham must've gotten wind of what they were doing with Continental because Fuller is getting a title shot against Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Champion Tony Atlas on Sunday night and he can already feel himself becoming champion right now. Fuller adds that they're ready to make this territory their own sandbox and make sure everyone knows who they are. They are as formidable as individuals than they are as a tag team and it won't take too long for anyone to find that out.

-Up next, it's an interview with the Rock N' Roll RPMs. Despite being the current Atlantic Coast TV Champion, Mike Davis is still committed to the success of the Rock N' Roll RPMs and he's got Tommy Lane's back just like Lane has his. During the interview, Bob Caudle announces that Atlantic Coast is coming to Charlotte on Saturday November 9 and there will be special guests like Buddy Rose and the team of Tommy Gilbert & Ricky Gibson. But on that card, Tommy Lane will go one-on-one with Gino Hernandez. Lane is pretty excited about this opportunity and he wants to make a good impression as well. Lane wants to prove that he can be as successful as Mike Davis in singles and if he can beat Gino in this match, this will go a long way in doing that.

-In the feature match, Atlantic Coast Tag Team Champions Bill White & Johnny Weaver and their partner Randy Savage (w/Miss Elizabeth) beat the team of Stampede Rush & Kevin Kelly in 8:43 after an elbow drop from Savage on Kelly. But the story is that Gino Hernandez  made his way to the ring to attack Savage afterwards. While Stampede Rush was taking care of the champs, Gino Hernandez blew a kiss to Liz before piledriving Savage on the concrete floor of the Sportatorium! The show ended with a distraght Liz checking on Savage as he was stretchered out of the Sportatorium!
