I get the sense that they didn't make a consistent profit even in the good times (months with a big DVD release like Kobashi vs. Joe were profitable, those without they struggled). Which is why their business strategy has kept mutating over the years. First, the golden carrot was PPV, then it was TV, then it was Ric Flair, now it's Internet PPV.

There's a poster over at DVDVR who goes out of his way to defend TNA whenever someone remotely criticizes the product and then criticizes WWE for the tiniest infractions

I'm pretty sure it's not a gimmick either

wow. just wow.

I think he posts at Scott Keith's blog also

If it's the guy I'm thinking of he was banned from Classics after a week or so for trolling the board vis a vis Cornette/Russo.

Totally unrelated subject, but does anyone know where I can get a good listing of Puerto Rico shows with the gates going back into the early 80's (or earlier for that matter?).

Speaking of Dave has anyone hear the newly posted Ted DiBiase Torch Talk from 1994? Ted speaks highly of Meltzer. He relates a story of bumping into Dave just before he debuted in the WWF stating Dave was incredulous initially on why such a respected and renowned wrestler would ever join the WWF. Essentially thinking Ted sold out but not in those exact words.

Huzzah Dave addressed this today, Dave said he told Ted to go.

Rosseau is the guy from DVDVR who loves TNA.

Marty2Hotty was the guy at Wrestling Classics who was banned, co-founded VinceRusso.net, abandoned that, ran Russo's facebook page, and now is very quiet for the past couple of months.

So was the knee injury rumour floated on the pre-show a cover story for the surgery or was it made up organically?

I wasn't aware of that, so that's a very good question rovert that I can't answer for certain, but I'm a cynic so I'd suggest that it was a cover story.

Franklin McNeil just before the PPV dropped the bombshell in very dramatic fashion that word coming from the fighters is that Rua is carrying a knee injury and the pointed to Rua's flabbiness.

Shogun said on the MMA Live postshow that the rumors of him having knee surgery was false and it was that same interview that first revealed he had the appendectomy 7 weeks before the Machida fight.

It should be mentioned that most appendectomies these days are done via minimally invasive surgery, so 8 weeks recovery time is more than enough unless they still do it the old way in Brazil (and they obviously don't since he didn't appear to have the scar doing it the old way leaves behind).

Am I the only person to find the Daniel Bryan attacks Michael Cole angle to be pretty lame? For a disgruntled midget feuding with the lead announcer, Tazz was so much better in the role. And well, we all know what happened to Tazz afterwards.

This angle is going to be inconsequential to whether he succeeds or not. I enjoyed it, but it's too inside for the audience and no one watches NXT to begin with. The important thing is how he gets positioned on RAW/SD. Danielson did show some pretty good fire on the mic, though, so hopefully that wins him some points.

Intially thought President Backlund when I read about it. I watched the video and it was rather good even it showed that Bryan and Micheal are similar in size at best . Regal's background facials and gestures in parts were very entertaining.

You might be the only person. ;) I was at the show last night, and it got a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Of course, a lot of the audience has changed and probably wouldn't remember the Tazz angle that was like 10 years ago.

Ok so I haven't read RIm in ages. Luchabritania?? So recent WWE world champ Sheamus started in a burlesque latex fetish and self mutilation act fed?

Apparently so:

Mild NWS on this

Sheamus looks like Powers of Pain era Warlord here.

And thought I knew about all of SOS's skeltons. :(

New WON:

Only one person was let go at this point, ring announcer David Penzer, and that really wasn’t cost-cutting as much as just him having heat. The company was looking at trying to get long- time ring announcer Gary Cappetta in (as best I can tell, Cappetta, whose career dates back to WWWF television in the 70s, is a high school Spanish teacher and while he did some for ROH hasn’t worked full-time in wrestling since leaving WCW more than a decade ago, probably hasn’t yet even been contacted).

This is the most exciting thing I've read about TNA in a long time, which probably says something about TNA and probably says even more about me.
