KawadaSmile
One of the most tragic stories of the week. https://www-thesun-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11668962/shad-gaspard-dead-39-wwe-swim/amp/?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=15900330913241&csi=1&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=Fonte%3A %1%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thesun.co.uk%2Fsport%2F11668962%2Fshad-gaspard-dead-39-wwe-swim%2F
NotJayTabb
This whole story is unbelievably tragic, just a really sad freak accident. It's been interesting to learn what kind of man Shad Gaspard was in life, as every Twitter post from people who knew the man is absolutely flowing with love for him as a person. Add that to finding out about him preventing an armed robbery in 2016 and of course the heroic nature of his death, and you get the picture of a friendly, kind, brave family man. A real tragedy. cactus
Terrible news. Looking at Twitter, Cryme Tyme meant a lot to the younger fans who started watching WWE in 2006-2010. They made their questionable gimmick work. Seems like Shad was a guy that no one had a bad word to say about him.
Migs
Particularly as a parent of a young kid, this one made me real sad.
NintendoLogic
Awful news. All the focus right now is on his qualities as a human being, as it should be, but I also remember liking the strap match he had with JTG after Cryme Tyme broke up. C.S.
Re-posting this from the other thread because it really tells you what kind of man Shad Gaspard was. https://www.espn.com/wwe/story/_/id/29194379/wwe-shad-gaspard-man-supposed-be 5 hours ago, NintendoLogic said: I also remember liking the strap match he had with JTG after Cryme Tyme broke up. Yet another pointless WWE breakup that went absolutely nowhere. Big E even said as much about WWE breakups (not this one). The company never handles them well, not everyone involved benefits from them (he used Rusev and Aiden English as an example), etc. That's why he's fought so hard to keep New Day together. Mad Dog
There is a bright side to this but a small one. I am glad they have a body to bury. A lot of the people that get swept out like that are never found again. So at least his family gets some closure to the whole thing.
cm funk
Such a sad story, but he died a hero by all accounts. I feel horrible for his son. I also liked that strap match after the Cryme Tyme breakup, but they never did anything with either of them after that. Yet another team with potential that WWE squandered by their refusal to take tag team wrestling seriously. I remember them being quite over for a bit, solid enough in ring for a young WWE team, they were paired with Cena briefly on TV but it didn't go anywhere, then nothing. I don't even remember if they ever held the titles, at a time when every random team would hold them and it never really meant anything. Definitely a case of wasted potential, and damn, he was younger than me which means he's was in his 20's when he had his run. Sounds like after WWE didn't work out he basically stopped trying to make it in wrestling. I'm going to put this in spoilers because it might come off a bit insensitive I get really upset/angry when I see stories of people dying in the ocean and/or water in general because it's totally avoidable. As someone who learned to swim at a young age and spent his summers in the Atlantic ocean, who's super comfortable out there but knows the risks, it just really bothers me because I always assume user error. Fighting the tide and panicking will always make things worse, and you can keep above water and handle the waves and going under for as long as you can float and/or die by sharks/exposure if you know what you're doing. This isn't the time or place for one of those rants because I wasn't there and I don't know exactly what happened, and Shad allegedly spent a lot of time at the beach.....but if the stories from the lifeguard are true that they got pulled almost 200 yards out fast......that just shouldn't happen no matter how strong the tide if you're experienced in the ocean. Sounds unfortunately like one or both of them panicked

Sounds unfortunately like one or both of them panicked It's mind-boggling what an awful, arrogant take this is. Spoiler Just because you "learned to swim at a young age and spent his summers in the Atlantic ocean, who's super comfortable out there" doesn't mean everyone else is an expert swimmer who learned at a young age and is "super comfortable" in the Atlantic ocean. Can't this just be a dad wanting to take his family to beach for a little fresh air and fun? I'm sure he and his son were capable, competent swimmers, but not everyone who goes to the beach is an ocean expert. I'd wager that most people aren't. I learned to swim at a young age, and I've been to the beach many times, but I'm probably not an expert either. Plus, depending on various factors (where he grew up, his background, and his family's income level when he was a child - all of which I know nothing about), he may not have had the luxury of becoming an Atlantic Ocean expert swimmer like you. But here you are, callously referring to a heroic father who chose to save his child instead of himself as "user error." Jesus, this is as tone deaf a post as I've ever seen on this board - anywhere on the internet, really.

Sad but true. This was an avoidable tragedy, I'm not throwing shade, it just is what it is, and it sucks. my point stands. and by the way, I've never lived a life of luxury asshole. Shad is/was "richer" than I've ever been or ever wanted to be. So no, try again. Money don't equal ocean smarts. I'm just gonna stop now, I'm not trying to be a dick, but you call me out shots fired I'll fire back, pally

I'm just gonna stop now, I'm not trying to be a dick, but you call me out shots fired I'll fire back, pally Yeah, you should stop, because your name-calling makes you look like an immature child. You can get your bathing suit in a bunch all you want because I said Shad may not have had the luxury of swimming at an early age that you did, but that doesn't make my point any less valid. I also said that I learned to swim in the ocean at an early age too, so I have no idea why you took that, of all things, as an insult. I don't consider myself an ocean expert though. Avoidable accident? This isn't the Owen Hart situation, dude. Unless you were there, you have no way of knowing for sure. He had to make a heart-wrenching, split-second, life or death decision, and he chose to save his son. That's all you know. Nothing else. I don't care how much of an "expert" you are - you can't account for every variable when we're talking about something as unpredictable as a giant body of water, and you certainly can't speak authoritatively about a specific situation you didn't witness firsthand and don't have all the facts on. But hey, you do you, man, and keep throwing out words like "asshole" and "pally" unironically. I'll leave you to your gimmick. Have a nice day! Burgundy LaRue
The problem is you're passing judgment while admitting you weren't there and don't know what happened. You're making assumptions when a family has to rebuild their lives. It's inconsiderate, at best.
