Terry Funk's Health

Look's like Terry Funk's health issues have continued to deteriorate. He posted a video the other day asking fans to stop sending fan mail and Dustin Rhodes just posted something today to pray for him.... not good.

Dustin followed up to say Funk’s hip had been bothering him and he was in a lot of pain. Hopefully that’s all it is, and it passes soon.

Mick Foley made a similar post saying that Terry's hip is causing him a lot of severe pain.

Don Muraco said on his podcast that Funk is suffering from dementia and has been moved to an assisted living facility. Terrible news if true.

That's really sad. I sent him a letter years ago and he signed some stuff for me and even scribbled a little drawing of Texas on the index cards I used to make the envelope more sturdy. 

He truly was an amazing talent.

Tommy Dreamer tweeted that he talked to Terry Funk on the phone today and that Terry is not in bad health.

He said direct quote from Terry. "I'm currently sitting in my assisted living place with my thumb up my ass whistling dixie but I don't remember the  words!"

Oh hell, my straight-shooting Texan grandma hung on for over 10 years in assisted living. She didn't have 50 years of rassling on her, but she did raise four baby boomers...

Yeah, considering his wife passed away it probably is good that someone his age with the miles his body has live in an assisted living facility. I was wary of my mom living by herself at that age and she wasn't doing moonsaults off balconies in her 50s.

Terry Funk is one of my all-time favorite Americans, forget rasslin.  We should all be lining up to donate our blood and organs to this man, should he ever need them

Assisted living isn't even a nursing home, it's an apartment building with aides and a bunch more wheelchair traffic than most.

The current Observer has more details on Funk's condition. Physically, he's been in more or less constant pain ever since he defied doctor's orders to appear on a Tommy Dreamer show fresh off hernia surgery. Mentally, the good news is that he's in nowhere near as bad shape as Red Bastien and Nick Bockwinkel were at the end of their lives. However, he was interviewed for the Mick Foley A&E biography, and the fact that none of the footage was used is not a good sign.
