This was a strong, busy go-home stretch that made SuperClash feel important without getting messy. The Spivey and Von Erich angle set the tone right away, and Dundee returning to go after Muraco gave that feud real history and weight. The tag scene stayed active with constant tension and brawling, which helped the show feel physical and unpredictable. The midcard mostly delivered, especially Blaze getting momentum and the Hangman–Cactus chaos adding some edge. The celebrity spots worked because they were quick and didn’t distract from the wrestling. The Hogan–Flair segment did exactly what it needed to do by raising the stakes and clearly defining what SuperClash is about.

Awesome opening and ending with great stuff in the middle.  I love when the babyfaces act like heels.  Garvin, Slater and Muraco are after the Horsemen.  The segment in the parking garage was so well done.  Also, the ending was really well written.  You did such an awesome job with the promos that you off sounding just like Flair and Hogan.  Also loved the recap of the view that flowed in and out of the interview. Can't wait to see how the special ref does in this match of the century!

Friday Jan. 2nd and Saturday Jan. 3rd

From the McNichols Arena, Denver Co.

Live on pay per view

Singing the National Anthem on Night 1 and America the Beautiful on Night 2- Belinda Carlisle

Special Guest Timekeeper for the World Title Bout- Malcolm -Jamal Warner

Special Guest Appearance by Promoter Don King

Night 1

For the AWA 6-Man Titles

Bobby Blaze and The Takano Dragons vs. Austin's Idols (Gary Young, JW Storm, Ricky Santana) w/Austin Idol

The AWA announced at Superclash, 6-man champions would be crowned. Blaze and the Takanos have won big matches together and received a spot here. Austin Idol became a manager and put together his Idols. They won a qualifying match to earn their spot. There's a little bit of history here because at WrestleRock, Austin Idol was on the losing end against Blaze and The Takanos. Idol hasn't forgotten this.

Cactus Jack vs. The Hangman w/Nell

Nell has been on a quest to rid the AWA of lost souls. The Hangman has been undefeated during this quest and has indeed sent numerous "lost souls" out of the AWA. Nell recently choose Cactus Jack as the next victim. This won't be an easy task because Cactus has spent the year involved in brutal and bloody feuds with Buzz Sawyer and Jimmy Golden, which Jack eventually won. Recently, the Hangman actually hung Cactus over the top rope with his noose. Cactus was screaming, choking and actually laughing. I wonder if Nell actually knows what he's dealing with.

Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Mr. Saito

This match is making headlines in Japan. Two of their best will go at it and I'm sure there will be a ton of Japanese media at ringside to witness this historic encounter.

The Magnificent Muraco vs. 'Superstar' Bill Dundee

If Muraco wins, he gets 5 minutes with Tully Blanchard

Tully has been a huge thorn for Muraco since his interference costed Muraco his chance at the World Title. During a 6 man tag match, Tully assaulted Muraco several times with a chair. Muraco wants nothing more than to get his hands on Tully, so he had a little chat with AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow and the stipulation was made. Since Tully is officially a manager, Morrow said Tully could handpick an opponent for Muraco. Tully chose Bill Dundee. A year ago, Muraco had been feuding with Dundee. At that time Superstar Graham was managing Muraco. Muraco defeated Dundee for the Superstar moniker and also sent Dundee packing. Dundee has come back and assured Tully he doesn't have to worry. I'm not sure anything can stop Muraco from getting his hands on Tully.

Double Chain Match

The British Bombers vs. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer and The Missing Link

Both Link and Sawyer had issues with Tony St. Clair. In the UK, after a world title bout, Link and Sawyer attacked St. Clair. This could have been horrible but St. Clair's former ally and rival Johnny Smith came to his rescue. The Bombers were reunited. Weeks later, Link and Sawyer attacked the Bombers with chains. While they were healing, the Bombers decided this was going to end once and for all in a double chain match.

Taped Fist Match

Leo Burke vs. Iceman Parsons w/Jacquline

These guys have had a rivalry going and have traded wins and losses. Iceman brought in Jackie and she's helped Iceman with an advantage more than once. Recently they've both interfered in matches and knocked each other out on TV. Parsons says he's going to put that rooty poo Burke to sleep for good. Burke's no stranger to taped fist matches and won one at WrestleRock. Even Randall Tex Cobb was impressed.

AWA TV Title Bout

Special Guest ring announcer- Alyssa Milano

David Sammartino (C) vs. Gama Singh

Gama spent most of the year involved in a successful tag team the Swords of Light with Konnan. Things went downhill when Konnan turned on Gama and eventually defeated him in a match. Gama regrouped and won a TV qualifying match against Jimmy Golden to earn this shot. Sammartino has enjoyed a lengthy title run and has taken on all challengers. His belly to belly suplex has been instrumental in retaining his title. Both men are looking forward to a clean competitive match up.

AWA International Title Bout

Stan Hansen (C) vs. King Kong Bundy

Hansen ended the Red Rooster's nine month reign at WrestleRock in dominating fashion. Hansen's defended the title in the US as well as Japan. Bundy has been unstoppable in the last few months, steamrolling over all the competition. At Title Night, Hansen retained in a grueling match with Jumbo Tsuruta. Bundy seized this opportunity and attacked Hansen. Bundy gave Hansen 2 big splashes and definitely got his attention. A lot of anticipation for this big match.

AWA World Tag Team Title Bout

The Enforcers (C) w/Tully Blanchard vs. 'Dirty' Dick Slater and 'Rugged' Ron Garvin

The Enforcers defeated the Rock n Roll Express at WrestleRock for the titles and have been a huge part of the Horsemen since. Garvin and Slater worked their way up the ranks and were announced number one contenders. On a TV show, the Enforcers attacked Slater and Garvin in the parking lot and injured their hands. Weeks later, the Horsemen pulled up into the parking lot. Slater, Garvin and Muraco banged up their car with lead pipes and sent the Horsemen speeding out of there. This match will be hard hitting and intense!

Night 2

Marcus Bagwell and Marc Mero vs. The Bunkhouse Boys

Rookies Bagwell and Mero started teaming up and impressed AWA eyes, so they were rewarded with a spot on the card. They will be facing the debuting Bunkhouse Boys.

The Missouri Tiger vs. The Equalizer

Both men are new to the AWA and have had a few shoving confrontations. Tiger's in full football gimmick, while Equalizer's a straight up mauler A win at SuperClash will be nice momentum going into 1991.

10-Man Elimination Tag Team Match

'Thrilling' Tom Brandi, The Rock n Roll RPMS and The Soul Patrol

vs

'Jamming' Tommy Jammer, The Professionals and The Power Twins w/ The Vin Man and Ted Arcidi

Brandi and Jammer have been feuding for months. Vinnie has interfered several times but the last time backfired and Brandi got the win while Vinnie and Jammer ended up arguing. Trouble here? After the Power Twins acquired the services of Ted Arcidi, they've been going at it with the Soul Patrol. Arcidi has gotten involved a few times and say him and the Power Twins just love beating the Soul Patrol up for the fun of it. The RPMs and Pros have been heating up, with the Pros saying they're legitimate wrestlers while the RPMs are pretty boy clowns and an embarrassment to wrestling. The AWA decided to put all these feuds in one match and see who survives.

El Canek vs. Konnan w/Gary Hart

It seems Hart was the one who convinced Konnan to go solo. Hart has promised to take Konnan all the way to the top. He said Konnan will prove he's the greatest wrestler to come out of Mexico. In order to do this, they have targeted El Canek, a true Mexican legend. Hart says Canek's days are over and it's time to move over for Konnan. Canek has been at the top of AWA cards for years and is a former AWA International Champion. Old lion vs. Young lion.

Tag Team Tornado Match

The Tribal Nation vs. The Guerreros

These teams have been in a heated feud. In the last two matches, the Guerreros won one with a sack of coins and the Tribal Nation won one with tomahawks. It's gotten to a point where only a tornado match can resolve this.

'The Modern Day Warrior' Kerry Von Erich vs. 'Dangerous' Dan Spivey

Spivey came in as a paid hitman by the Horsemen to take care of Hulk Hogan. Kerry was fed up with the Horsemen's odds and stood by Hulk Hogan. Kerry diverted Spivey and things got heated. Spivey tried to attack Kerry during a TV match but Kerry sent him through the ropes with a discus punch. A week later, Spivey got to Kerry and in a horrifying moment, got Kerry up for a crucifix slam and slammed him through the announcer's table! Spivey has promised to end Kerry's AWA days for good. Kerry has vowed revenge at SuperClash.

BOOT CAMP MATCH

Carlos Colon vs. Col. Debeers

This started at Champagne Slam when Colon eliminated Debeers from the battle royal. Debeers started a war with Colon. Colon is no stranger to wars in the AWA and proved that to Debeers. Both men have attacked each other, injured each other, bloodied and beaten each other. Each have won battles but the war has raged on. This war will finally end at SuperClash.

AWA National Tag Team Title Bout

Latin Desire (C) vs. The Heavenly Bodies

Latin Desire lost the titles but regained them at WrestleRock. Since then they've faced all the top teams and have remained champs. The Heavenly Bodies quickly rose the ranks and received a title match at Title Night. The teams wrestled to a draw but the Heavenly Bodies attacked Latin Desire with the belts afterwards. Recently, Prichard interfered to help his partner Landel win against Lou Perez. A week later, Lou interfered and helped his partner Al defeat Prichard. During all this, Landel suffered an ankle injury. Nobody is sure if he's able to compete at SuperClash, so we'll see how all this works out.

AWA World Title Bout

'Nature Boy' Ric Flair w/Tully Blanchard vs. Hulk Hogan

Hogan arrived in the AWA 2 years ago and won the world title at WrestleRock 89. Hogan brought mainstream attention to the AWA, a ton of merchandise and has sold out arenas everywhere. Thanks to his influence the AWA has been able to attract top celebrities to their major shows. Needless to say, Hogan has brought a lot of money to the AWA.

Ric Flair came to the AWA with a ton of buzz. At his press conference, he said he wanted Hulk Hogan and the world title. Well, he made a huge impact when he won the Champagne Challenge and earned a world title match at WrestleRock.

At the May Title Night, Hogan retained the world title in a grueling match with Stan Hansen. Flair, Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko, locked themselves in the cage and attacked Hogan. Flair battered Hogan's leg with a chair and applied the figure four. Hogan's leg was severely injured.

At WrestleRock 90, in what was called the match of the century, Tully Blanchard made a shocking appearance and helped Ric Flair win the AWA world title.

Hogan took some time off to heal up. Meanwhile Flair defended the world title all over the globe as the Horsemen became stronger than ever.

When Hogan came back, Flair said he wouldn't get a rematch and had to climb his way back up the ladder. The Horsemen put every obstacle in Hogan's way but Hogan got through it all and the rematch of the century was announced for SuperClash.

After more run ins and attacks by the Horsemen, AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow decided that he would be the special referee to insure a winner at SuperClash.

The fans have been waiting for this rematch since WrestleRock. Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, the two biggest names in wrestling in the biggest rematch in wrestling history for the AWA world title.

Night 1

The camera pans across the sell out arena. Sleek SuperClash banners hang from the rafters. Larry Nelson and Ken Resnick are at ringside wearing tuxedos.

Nelson: Hello everyone and welcome to the AWA flagship event, SuperClash 5! Ken, we have a tremendous weekend of action ahead. Title bouts, grudge matches and scores to settle.

Resnick: Absolutely Larry. However, before we get to all that action, the one and only Belinda Carlisle is in the ring waiting to sing our National Anthem.

Belinda sings the Anthem and gets the crowd going in a big way. She waves and blows kisses before exiting.

For the AWA 6-Man Titles

Bobby Blaze and The Takano Dragons vs. Austin's Idols (J.W. Storm/Ricky Santana and Gary Young) w/Austin Idol

The Takanos enter the ring wearing red wrestling pants with yellow swirling dragons on the legs. Blaze is wearing red trunks with yellow flames. All three are wearing matching black jackets with red flames on the back.

The charismatic Austin Idol leads his colorful team to the ring. Storm's wearing his trademark leather jacket and sunglasses. Santana's wearing a fedora and sunglasses. Young's sporting leopard colored wrestling pants and sunglasses.

AWA officials hold up the newly designed 6-Man titles. The Ref signals for the bell and we're off.

These teams get the fans hopping early as the action runs at a fever pace. Blaze gets momentum going with dropkicks, hip tosses and arm drags. The Takanos tag in and out and show off their chemistry. The Takano's hit a fireman's carry/neckbreaker combo on Santana but Storm breaks the pin attempt. Santana eventually tags in Young but Blaze wears him down. Shunji comes in and slams Young down, then press slams his brother George on top of him but Santana breaks the pin attempt.

The tide changes when Storm nails George with a forearm from the apron. Young follows with a clothesline and tags in Storm. The Idols go to work on George. Storm overwhelms him with power moves and tags in Santana, who comes off the top rope with a flying elbow drop but this time Blaze breaks the pin attempt. Double Chain Match!

The British Bombers vs. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer and The Missing Link

You can feel the intensity in the air for this one. Sawyer and Link head down the aisle looking like maniacs ready for a great time.

The Bombers are in sync wearing their Union Jack themed wrestling pants.

There's a mass of security and officials in the ring. Both teams are being held back. Security pulls out the 20 ft long chains. Link will be chained to Smith while Sawyer's chained to Tony. As soon as Security puts the chains on, everybody sprints out of the ring. The bell rings and it's on!

Both teams collide and just start going at it. Everybody has the chains wrapped around their fists as they punch away. Everybody's on an adrenaline rush. In a matter of minutes, everybody is bleeding. Link headbutts Smith several times, then starts choking him with the chain. Tony has the chain wrapped around Sawyer's legs but Link headbutts Tony.

Sawyer starts biting Tony's head, then swings Tony to the ropes and clotheslines him with the chain. Link wraps the chain around his own head and starts headbutting Smith.

Eventually the Bombers weather the storm and come back. Tony pulls the chain up between Sawyer's legs as Sawyer falls over in pain. Smith wraps the chain around Link and slams him down, then follows with a chain fist drop. Tony charges and nails Buzz with a chain uppercut. Link's still wrapped up in the chain as Smith suplexes him over.

The tide turns later as Sawyer powerslams Tony over, then starts mauling him with the chain. Link wraps the chain around the top turnbuckle and slams Smith's head on it several times. Link holds Smith as Sawyer batters him with the chain. Then Sawyer holds Tony as Link batters him with the chain. The Bombers just wont quit.

All four men are a bloody mess.

The Bombers make a last ditch effort and stereo chain clothesline Link and Sawyer down. The fans go wild as the Bombers let out a roar. The Bombers just start chain whipping Link and Sawyer. They wrap the chains around their fists and start hammering away on Link and Sawyer's bloody heads.

The Bombers say something to each other. Tony wraps the chain around Sawyer's neck as Smith wraps his around Link's neck. The Bombers hurl Link and Sawyer over the top rope and choke them with the chains. The Ref's on the outside looking in horror as Sawyer and Link choke and finally pass out. The Ref signals for the bell.

The Bombers fall to their knees in pure exhaustion and relief that this is finally over. I think the fans are just as worn out from witnessing this bloodbath.

Winners of the Match- The British Bombers

The Magnificent Muraco vs. 'Superstar' Bill Dundee

If Muraco wins he gets 5 minutes with Tully Blanchard

Dundee walks down the aisle sporting an Elvis look with the hair, jacket and shades. Tully comes out and shakes Dundee's hand. Tully arrogantly smirks as he heads to his seat by the announcers table. Dundee is oozing confidence as he gives Tully a thumbs up.

Muraco comes down the aisle wearing a tye dye shirt. He looks intense and focused. He gives Tully a glare while Tully laughs at him. Muraco enters the ring, rips off his shirt and throws it down at Tully.

The bell rings but Tully's up and yelling at Muraco. Muraco's about to head out after him but Dundee sends him through the ropes with a flying knee. That also includes tomorrow night's world title bout between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan.

Nelson: Well, I'm relieved to hear that. I'm sure Tully's in serious trouble after that stunt he pulled. Ok, let's get to our big main event. A lot of hatred in this one.

Winners of the Match and NEW AWA World Tag Team Champs- Ron Garvin and Dick Slater

Nelson: Wow! What a way to end the night! New AWA world tag team champions. Listen to this crowd Ken.

Resnick: (laughs) It's been an unbelievable night Larry. Gama Singh is the new TV champ, Stan Hansen retains, we have newly crowned 6 man title holders and a lot of grudges were settled, well except for that cheating and cowardly Tully Blanchard.

Nelson: I hear you Ken. Don't worry, I'm sure Tully will get his comeuppance. Well, we still have one more night to go, of course headlined by the Rematch of the Century between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. AWA C.O.O. and special referee Gerry Morrow has promised a clear winner. I know that will be a lot easier now that Tully Blanchard is out of the equation. Ok fans, we'll see you tomorrow night for part two of SuperClash!

Wow... what a night of wrestling.  You really put in some work here.  Great write-ups for each match with such details.  This had it all for the fans to discuss on the ride home from new angles to title changes to the end of some big feuds.

I really like Garvin and Slater as the tag team champs.  They are a brawling team that the fans can really get behind.

You have Hansen looking like he can't be stopped... a clean win over KKB... Love it!

Tully is a dirty as the come... love it.  One question... since Muraco got the win... doesn't Tully get to beat his with the chair for 5 more minutes... lol... great angle. Can't wait to see what is next here.

What you have done with the Hangman is remarkable... He is scary!!! My favorite heel in the game right now.

Maxx Payne with the attack on Burke gives you your next built in angle.... great booking!

Can't wait for the second night!

Damn, Hangman takes out Jack.

Jumbo and Saito go to a respectable draw.

Payne serves Bruke up to Parsons on a silver platter.

Gamma takes the TV title but David proves himself a real sportsman.

The Bombers survive a bloody chain match.

Muraco wins the match but Tully finds the dirtiest way possible to get out of giving him 5 minutes.

Hansen takes down the monster Bundey.

Garvin & Slater fight fire with fire in route to claiming the tag titles.
