LowBlowPodcast
Havoc was a lot of fun - what a way to bring everything together. This was always one of my favorite events IRL and you definitely brought out the big guns for this one.
Autistic Dragon
NWA TV: Fallout from Halloween Havoc. 1. StarrcadeĀ With Halloween Havoc in the books, we are officially on the road to the biggest night on the wrestling calendar, Starrcade. Jim Crockett Jr announces that the event will air live on pay per view, Thanksgiving night from the Greensboro Coliseum. He confirms the main event will see "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel defend the Ten Pounds of Gold against the "Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard. 2. How many Horsemen are there? Perhaps the biggest story coming out of Halloween Havoc is the return of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard to the NWA. The three men joined Sean Mooney who asked Flair how he could once again side with these two men who both turned on him. Flair says they were brought together by their mutual desire to be the best to ever do it. He admits he & Tully allowed the NWA World title to come between them but they also pushed each other more than anyone either of them had ever been in the ring with. After they all left the NWA for various reasons Arn sat them all down and reminded them that they're better together. Mooney ask what's their relationship with the current ideration of the Four Horsemen but none of them really give a straight answer. Arn takes control of the interview and says he and Tully are calling out The Road Warriors. Those "face painted freaks" have disgraced the art of tag team wrestling long enough and at Starrcade he and Tully will set things right. 3. Manny FernandezĀ Fernandez won the "Trick or Treat" battle royal and now has a guaranteed shot at the NWA United States Title at Starrcade. After decimating a local talent Fernandez joins Mooney and says he feels like he's been spinning his wheels in the NWA forever. He's sick and tired of his career not going anywhere, sick and tired of being overlooked and he's sick and tired of being sick and tired. He's got no issue with Kevin Von Erich but the US title is the key to getting the respect he deserves in the NWA and he won't let it slip from his grasp. spaldoni
No doubt in my mind, Budro and Prichard are going to tear the house down at Starrcade!Ā Very intriguing situation with the Horsemen. Can't wait to see what goes down at Starrcade.Ā Manny's has enough and is going into business for himself. Kevin better keep a close eye on him.Ā
kevinmcfl
Really looking forward to Landel and Prichard.Ā They are both great workers. I really like the angle of the extra Horsemen... wonder how many their will be after Starrcade.Ā Ā
Autistic Dragon
The Road Warriors respond. After utterly brutalizing two local talents the NWA World Tag Team champions joined Mooney and in their usual colorful style, addressed the challenge by Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard from last week. They said it doesn't matter if there's four horsemen or forty, they'll tear through anyone and everyone who tries to take these belts from them just as they've done for nearly a full year now. They finish by saying Arn & Tully are gonna wish they never came back to the NWA. Speaking of the Horsemen. JJ Dillion was notable by his absence as Harley Race claimed a win with his trusty Piledriver. Race then joins Mooney and says all he's heard since Halloween Havoc is people questioning the future of the Horsemen now that Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard are back. He says if the three of them have reached out to the "real Horsemen" he hasn't heard of it. Says if any of them have anything to say to him they can come out and say to his face like a man. After a brief wait, Ric Flair comes out dressed to the nines. He says he wants to make it perfectly clear that of course the three of them have the utmost respect for Harley Race for everything he's done in this business, BUT the Four Horsemen was supposed to represent the best of the best, the elite of the wrestling world and, with all respect, he doesn't feel the current group lives up to that standard. Race asks what that's supposed to mean and Ric says as an example, Harley is one of the best to ever do it, a seven time NWA World champion, but those days are clearly behind him. Race says if Flair truly believes that then how about they meet at Starrcade and we'll see if Race is still an elite level talent or not. This finally brings Dillion out to try and diffuse the situation but neither man seems to pay him much attention. Flair says if he has to be the one to make Race face reality than so be it, he accepts! NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship. Too Cold Scorpio joined Mooney after defeating his opponent with his beautiful 450 splash and announced that after his victory in the brutal stretcher match at Halloween Havoc, the championship committee has granted him another shot at the NWA Junior Heavyweight title when he takes on "Wrestling Royalty" Brian Christopher at Starrcade. The Paul Jones Army. Jones was leading the Eliminators against the team of Jimmy Valiant and the NWA Heritage champion Tommy Rich. The youngsters gave a good showing, no doubt still riding high from winning the Six Man Tag titles, but the veteran instincts of "Wildfire" and the "Boogie Woogie Man" turned the tides and seemed to be closing in on a win when Jones signaled to the back which summoned Ivan Koloff & The Super Destroyer who stormed the ring causing a disqualification. The brawl was on with the Army's numbers giving them the edge until Shaska Whatley & the Nightmares ran down to make the save. Now the Army was outnumbered but Jones once again signaled to the back at which point KAMALA charged down the isle. The "Ugandan Giant" hit the ring like a wrecking ball dropping all the Army's enemies with chops to the head. The show ended with an all-out assault by Jones' men highlighted by Ivan choking Valiant with the "Russian chain" and Kamala hitting repeated splashes on Rich. spaldoni
After that Road Warriors segment, Arn and Tully might be rethinking things. YES! Flair and Harley one more time! This is what Starrcade is all about.Ā I would say 2 Cold definitely earned his shot at the gold. Another gem match at Starrcade.Ā Things got nuts and then went up another level when Kamala came out. Looks like another great set up for Starrcade.Ā The NWA is on fire and Starrcade is shaping up to be one of the best cards of the year.Ā Ā
Jimmy Jack Punk
Looking forward to getting caught up on things in the NWA as we head towards Starrcade. The Road Warriors, Horsemen, Race, a lot of good stuff happening here.Ā
Autistic Dragon
The Horsemen target Prichard. With Starrcade drawing ever closer, the Horsemen attempt to put their discourse with the returning trio of Flair, Anderson & Blanchard behind them and focus their efforts on protecting Buddy Landel's title. This week saw "Cowboy" Bob Orton step up to soften the "Doctor of Desire" up before his big opportunity. Throughout the match it seemed "The Ace" was more interested in hurting Prichard then actually getting the win himself and he unleashed his entire arsenal with JJ Dillion being sure to get his shots in when possible. Prichard managed to dig deep and battle back enough to get Orton in position for the Superkick but that was when Landel stormed the ring and attacked his challenger. The two Horsemen beat down Prichard culminating in Orton holding Prichard in place for Landel to smash him in the head with the Ten Pounds of Gold. Fallout from The Army's attack. A recap of the Paul Jones Army's assault from last week was played and Gordon Solie read aloud a decision from the NWA Board of Directors who have made a series of matches to take place at Starrcade. First by his own request, Tommy Rich will go one-on-one with Kamala with the NWA Heritage Title on the line. Second Jimmy Valiant has apparently demanded a match with Paul Jones due to their years of animosity between them. Jones objected citing his retirement form in ring competition and instead offered a match with Ivan Koloff instead. after some debate a compromise was reached. Jimmy Valiant will face Ivan Koloff in a Russian Chain match and if Valiant is victorious then he shall receive 5 minutes with Paul Jones. Lastly, Shaska Whatley has been granted a match for the World Six Man Tag Titles but as his preferred partners, The Nightmares, are already obligated to defend their United States Tag titles Whatley has been allowed to select any partners he wishes. Furthermore these partners will be allowed to remain anonymous until the match begins. Who will challenge for the NWA United States Tag Team titles? Speaking of The Nightmares, there challengers were decided in a Four Corners elimination match between Badd Company, The Killer Bees, Buffalo Soldiers & The Samoan Island Tribe which was ultimately won by Badd Company. spaldoni
The road to Starrcade continues. Heading into Starrcade, Budro definitely has the numbers advantage. Prichard might need some back up to counter the Horsemen.Ā Rich is one brave man requesting a match with Kamala. I'm sure Jones will be sweating during the Russian chain match. Looking forward to seeing who teams up with Whatley.Ā Badd Co. get their shot at the Nightmares.Ā Starrcade is stacked!!!Ā

Autistic Dragon
Live from the Greensboro Coliseum on Pay Per View, the National Wrestling Alliance proudly presents pro wrestling's premier Thanksgiving tradition... NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. "Wrestling Royalty" Brian Christopher(c) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll and Too Cold Scorpio wrestled to a 20 minute time limit draw. The fans wanted 5 more minutes, Scorpio readily agreed and Christopher seemed to join him but dove out of the ring just before the bell rang. Christopher and Doll grabbed the title and walked up the ramp together smiling smugly at the booing crowd. NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles. "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley & The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzel) defeat The Paul Jones Army (The Super Destroyer, Perry Saturn & John Konus)(c) w/"Number One" Paul Jones when Blair turned a fireman's carry by Sturn into a crucifix. TITLE CHANGE!!! Russian Chain Match. If Valiant wins he gets five minutes with Paul Jones. "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant defeats "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff w/"Number One" Paul Jones with a running bulldog after wrapping the chain around Koloff's head! Jones tries to leave with his client but security all but throws him into the ring. The next five minutes sees the hated manager doing his best impersonation of a pinball as Valiant knocks him from pillar to post. Finally the period is over and security basically have to carry Jones to the back. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. Badd Company (Pat Tanaka & Paul Diamond) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll defeat The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne)(c) in a match many, at the time and in the future, say stole the show. A blind tag by Diamond allows him to catch an unaware Davis with a crossbody with a handful of tights sealing the deal. TITLE CHANGE!!! NWA Heritage Championship. "Wildfire" Tommy Rich(c) and "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/Friday ends in a double DQ. Jones must've been in the trainers room as he never showed leaving poor Friday to try and reign in Kamala. Sufficed to say he wasn't up to the task tonight. NWA United States Chmapionship. "Raging Bull" Manny Ferandez defeats "Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Erich when he took advantage of a ref bump to nail Kevin with the US title. TITLE CHANGE!!! NWA World Tag Team Titles. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard defeat The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal)(c) when Brad Anderson distracted the ref allowing Ole Anderson to take out Animal with a chair leaving Hawk vulnerable to a SPike Pildriver from Arn & Tully. Whatever the situation with the rest of the Horsemen, it's clear the Anderson family is as united as ever. TITLE CHANGE!!! Special Attraction Match. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair defeats "Handsome" Harley Race with the Figure Four. Flair actually helped Race up after the match and the two longtime rivals shook hands. Main Event. NWA World Heavyweight Championship. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel(c) w/JJ Dillion vs "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard went to a 60 time limit draw. After the match, Ric Flair came down and handed Landel his title leading to a tense stare down between the two Nature Boys. Author's note: As y'all know this will be the finale of my NWA run as i'll be taking over the WWF as LowBlow moves on to WCW. It's been fun but i'm looking forward to the change of scenery. I know there really isn't a sense of finality here but I wanted to keep a lot of these guys looking strong as they're either coming with me up north or heading off to other territories after this. Hope you enjoyed the show and had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Title match to kick things off is the way to go.Ā Whatley brings in the Bees and now we have new 6 man champs.Ā Boogie Woogie Man takes out Uncle Ivan then gives Jones the beating if his life, capping off a classic feud.Ā No surprise that Badd Co. and the Nightmares put on a show stealing match. Cool seeing Badd Co win the belts.Ā Horrible night for Jones. Rich and Kamala give us an old school southern brawl.Ā Manny's recent aggression pays off as he takes the title from the Golden Warrior. I know these two gave the fans their money's worth.Ā WOW! The Andersons are all on the same page and help Tully and Arn upset the Road Warriors.Ā Flair gets the best of Harley in a last showdown. Good sportsmanship by Flair. That's respect.Ā What a way to cap the show and the NWA with Landel and Prichard going all the way. LowBlowPodcast
Awesome Starrcade - I was surprised by the Road Warriors getting the W, but that was what needed to happen IRL. NWA goes out on a high point with a lot of opportunity for the future with the WWF and WCW both benefiting from the transition.Ā
