We’ll hear about SummerSlam 1988 that will take place on August the 29th from Madison Square Garden.

Bobby lets us know that he has a major announcement for the Summerslam… Gorilla bites… Bobby says that Brother Love will be hosting a LIVE Brother Love show… Gorilla shuns his idea… Bobby then goes on to say that this is a very special guest… one in which Bobby has some particular interest in. Gorilla wonders if it is a member of the Heenan Family… Bobby declines but says this is a man who will change the WWF Forever. Gorilla balks at him and then sends us to our first video package highlighting The Royal Rumble 1988!

We return to Prime Time where Bobby says that the issue with Studd and Bundy and Andre in the beginning part of the year was one of the highlights of his career. Gorilla talks about not wanting to spoil it for the fans as we will see just what happened and how it all went down. They pumped up the first ever Royal Rumble and say that it will be returning next January… but this time there will be 30… yes 30 of the top WWF Stars all going into that match… no friends… no partners… but there will be Family, said Heenan.  Gorilla smiles… he puts over our next match in which we see the WWF Tag Team Champions… Demolition.

Demolition defeated Joe Smith & Tommy Walker via the decapitation device
During the match we hear from Mr. Fuji who says he is furious that Demolition did not follow his directions. Fuji says he is the reason Demolition are the tag team champions and he will be the reason they lose the titles! He is going to unleash power and pain on them. HAHAHAHA!

Gorilla then says… but who walked away with the titles? More exciting action to come here fans… let’s take a look right now at a member of said Heenan Family… Ravishing Rick Rude!

Rick Rude defeated Frankie Michaels via the Rude Awakening. He then put the Rude Awakening on an unlucky lady in the crowd.

Some big happenings coming. Gorilla laughs at him… then we talk about another big crew of guys… Jimmy Hart’s Family… we see 3 of them in action right now!

Another big contest… the tag team titles will be on the line when Mr. Fuji unleashes his Powers of Pain to take the WWF Tag Team Titles from Demolition! Intercontinental Champion, Rick Martel will face his toughest challenge yet… fans he is lightning in a bottle… the one and only Tito Santana!

Tito: Rick Martel has been going around the WWF for quite some time with that Intercontinental Championship and talking a lot of trash to everyone in his way. Well let me tell you something Martel… Summerslam… Madison Square Garden… NEW YORK CITY! ARRRIBA!! I’ve got a bone to pick with you pal and we’re going to go toe to toe and there will be nowhere for you to go!

Gene is back and he points out how WWF Champion Hulk Hogan will have a tough test when he steps into the ring with former WWF intercontinental champion Ravishing Rick Rude… the WWF title will be on the line but this time it will be a lumberjack match! Rude and Hogan have squared off before but now with the lumberjacks -  there is no telling what can happen. Fans we’ll have more matches signed for SummerSlam in the coming weeks including a very special tag team extravaganza leading up to the card. You won’t want to miss it.

We head back to the ring and we see a relatively popular name around wrestling right now, Jake the Snake Roberts, make his debut in the WWF. He handles Willy Stone pretty easily and even puts the snake out for the fans who love to see it!

We’ll see a couple of competitors who will be entering a tag team tournament to crown the first ever WWF United States Tag Team Champions. Brain… what an honor. Bobby goes on to say that it shows just how important and prestigious tag team wrestling in the WWF is. You’ve got Demolition who are the World Champs and now the US champs will be number one contenders and next in line for a shot… anything could happen. Gorilla says that is likely to be true and just like it did on Saturday Night’s Main Event… in April… anything did happen!

SNME XVI April 22, 1988

Hulk Hogan defended the WWF Championship against Paul Orndorff

Demolition defended the WWF Tag Team Championships in a 2 out of 3 falls match with the British Bulldogs

The Rougeau Brothers defeated Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers

Studd & Bundy defeated Andre & Patera with help from Rick Rude

Rick Martel went to a 20-minute draw with Tito Santana for the Intercontinental Championship

Gorilla and Bobby put over the big SummerSlam card - especially the IC title match and Rude’s chance at the WWF Championship. Bobby says that he’s trained Rude for this… Andre has shared all the secrets… in one night they will eliminate Hulk Hogan and John Studd out of Heenan’s life forever. Gorilla says he can’t wait to see the Hulkster tear them apart and Big John Studd destroy Andre.  Gorilla is all smiles as he sends us out to our next contest…

Rick and Scott Steiner make their debut as a team here in the WWF. They are about as Raw as Raw could be but get some good love from the crowd. Gorilla and Bobby put over how they are real all Americans unlike the Rougeaus. Bobby says that the Rougeaus are his pick to win the US tag titles because they are so American…We’ll see how that shakes out… more when we come back.

Gorilla and Bobby are back for our final segment. They put over the huge SummerSlam event… they talk about some new faces coming into the WWF in the coming weeks… and they discuss the special guest Brother Love is going to have on the show when he is live in Madison Square Garden. Heenan continues to say that it will change the scope of the WWF! Gorilla hums…  Gorilla then talks about this up and coming manager… Paul E Dangerously… Heenan says he’s great… reminds him a lot of himself… Gorilla wonders if he will have a protege… Heenan says no thank you. We’ll see more of Dangerously next week… it is time for our main event here on prime time… let’s head to the ring.

Tito Santana vs Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart
This is a fun main event for Prime Time. These two know one another quite well. They hammer away at each other with a lot of passion and fire before Valentine can really gain control. He starts to work over Tito and go after the leg but Santana fights back… here he comes with some huge rights and lefts. Wait a moment… Rick Martel walks out here and he is making his presence known with the Intercontinental Championship. Martel is gloating and he and Jimmy are laughing up a storm. Martel then goes up on the apron and Tito sets up Valentine with a huge flying forearm and Valentine crashes into Martel who goes flying. Tito then with the roll up and the 3-count!

Bobby and Gorilla sign us off as they put over a big summer for the WWF. Stay tuned for all the new faces and action… it is the WWF… what the World is Watching!

8/8 Superstars of Wrestling w/ Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura

Superstars opens with Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura standing in front of the green screen arena. They pump up the night of action here on Superstars… the fastest hour of wrestling in the world. Tonight we’ll see… the debut of the Great Muta! We’ll see Big John Studd, along with ST Jones, plus Mr. Fuji’s tag team… the Powers of Pain. Also, Bobby Heenan introduces his newest family member… Hercules! Let’s head to the ring right now for our opening match!

Kevin Von Erich defeated Ryan Skiles via the claw! During the match, Vince and Jesse put over Kevin’s success in 1988 and how he has got gold on his mind for the second half of the year. Kevin has stated that he will face anyone… anytime… and he looks forward to leaving it all out in the ring.

Our next contest features Mr. Fuji’s new team… The Powers of Pain. The Warlord and Barbarian look like monsters here and pay a good compliment to the WWF Tag Team Champions, Demolition. The POP beat the hell out of two jobbers. During the contest, Vince and Jesse argue about POP and if they are stronger than Demolition. Jesse thinks the titles could be in trouble at the Summerslam while Vince says that he thinks Demolition will bring the fight and walk out with the gold.

Big John Studd comes out with Bobby Heenan and looks strong tonight. We hear about his big tag team encounter as he teams up with King Kong Bundy to take on Andre the Giant and Jimmy Snuka at Summerslam. Jesse says that the family is growing in numbers and size and it could be a huge summer for Bobby Heenan especially if Rude wins the title from Hogan! Vince says that the Lumberjacks may favor Rick Rude at SummerSlam but we’ll see who walks away with the gold.

We return to the event center with Mean Gene who is pumping up the SummerSlam in a big way. He also breaks down the big united states tag team title tournament. He says we’ll see teams like the Rougeau Brothers and the British Bulldogs… plus the Steiner Brothers… the Samoans… the new team of Ivan Koloff and Nikolai Volkoff… plus a new team in the WWF… they are not strangers to gold… they’re the Rockers!

Shawn & Marty come on the screen and pump up their debut in the WWF. They can’t wait to Rock N Roll, Strut and Stroll all over the competition here in the WWF. They won’t hold anything back and they’ll come full fledged every night for a victory!

Gene returns and says that we’ll see the following matches at SummerSlam. For the WWF Title in a Lumberjack Match… Hulk Hogan defends against Rick Rude. For the WWF Tag Team Championship, Demolition defends against the Powers of Pain. The Intercontinental Title will be on the line when Rick Martel defends against Tito Santana. Plus we’ll see a special tag team encounter with Andre the Giant and Jimmy Snuka taking on John Studd & King Kong Bundy! Jake the Snake Roberts has signed on to face the ever dangerous, Iron Sheik! To cap it all off… we’ll have a special edition of the Brother Love Show… he says this will be a guest that will change the face of the WWF forever… time will tell if that’s true. Gene Okerlund for Update, we’ll be right back!

Soul Train Jones (Virgil) comes out to a nice ovation. Vince and Jesse argue whether or not Soul Train ST Jones is related to SD Special Delivery Jones… maybe? ST looks good in the ring and he’s built well. Vince puts over his fun friendship with Hillbilly Jim and how not only their lifestyles and music may clash they find a way to be successful together. ST Jones finishes Sam Knox with a top rope dropkick that ignites the crowd.

Bobby Heenan then introduces his newest family members… Hercules! Hercules looks like a monster and he comes down with Heenan and just beats the living shit out of Tim Royal. Vince and Jesse talk about Hercules and the Family growing… with Rude…. Bundy… Studd… Hercules it could be the most fierce family Heenan has ever had and Jesse says it could still be growing! Hercules gets the submission thanks to a torture rack!

The Great Muta makes a special entrance to the ring. He is shrouded in mystery and takes off his mask to reveal his red paint and then he spits the myst in the air. The crowd isn’t sure what they’re seeing here… Muta handles Lonny Loggins with little to no problem at all. He shows off some big moves… the lighting elbow drop… the handspring back elbow… then he is able to set him up for the big MOONSAULT off the top rope for the 3-count! Muta has his eyes on the crowd…  they aren’t sure about this guy but they’ve never seen anything like him.

Our final segment features the Barber, Brutus Beefcake in singles action against Conquistador 2. Jesse loves that Brutus won’t be cutting any hair tonight since the Conquistador wears a mask. Vince say he could rip that mask off and show everyone who it is and then cut his hair. Jesse says that Brutus is going to get himself in trouble with all these shenanigans. The sleeper hold spells the end and here comes Conquistador 1 and Brutus retreats and gets the sheers to clear the ring. Vince and Jesse put him over in a big way as they run down what we’ll see next week!

The figures are such a fun touch. Your collection is amazing.

I could see Kevin Von Erich holding gold.

Looking forward to the POP/Demolition match.

Heenan's family is an impressive group. Will Rude finally get Heenan the world title?

Very cool that you're using the Soul Train Jones gimmick. I'm surprised the WWF didn't go with this IRL. Seems so 80s WWF LOL.

Muta in the WWF will be very interesting. I'm sure the managers will be scouting.

Brutus doing some cutting and strutting.

All-American,

I hope Taylor does well here. We all know what went down IRL. He deserved so much better.

Could HTM be forming a Rhythm and Blues faction?

Looks like big plans are in store for Tugboat.

Borne brings in another gimmick well suited for the WWF.

Can't wait for SummerSlam!

That is a lot of figures. Lots of space needed. Never really got I to them - had a few of them. The old AWA figures, some knockoff generics from the same maker and a Justin Credible from the last ECW show in Texas.

It is a lot of figures and I have a spot in my garage for them... but space is always limited. Got back into it about a year ago and have enjoyed it... love making customs... I have pretty much any figure I could imagine wanting at this point... now I am only trying to utilize people in my shows whom I have a figure of or have made a figure of.  I've seen some guys do a lot more elaborate set ups than mine... but I am still having fun with it.

The US tag title tournament is shaping up great. Of the six named teams, my money's on Demolition.

The Heenan Family has got two main goals right now, win the tag titles and take out Andre.

I like the line up for the Hart Foundation. Loved The Rougeaus claiming to be All Americans.

Rockers win a fun main event.

Heyman with the Nasties should be fun.

Liking the SST as fun babyfaces.

I agree with the others, the figures and pics add a lot to your shows. Very creative touch.

Summerslam is heating up! The card is stacked with Hogan vs. Rude headlining. One match I'm really interested in is Muta vs. Kevin Von Erich.

With so many teams, creating the US tag titles is good booking. Twin Towers might be the favorites.

Cool seeing Heyman starting his managerial role.

Liking the smooth SST look.

Summerslam will definatley set the tone for the WWF's direction.

8/22 Superstars of Wrestling w/ Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura

Vince and Jesse pop on the screen as we have got a ruckus crowd for this Superstars of Wrestling. Vince and Jesse run down the card with a huge main event… Jimmy Snuka takes on Big John Studd! Plus we’ll see the Powers of Pain, the Iron Sheik, Tito Santana, Terry Taylor, and the Honky Tonk Man! Jesse says he can’t wait to see some of his favorites tonight… then we cut to the ring for our opening contest!

Matt Borne goes against Drake Clarke and defeats him with the double foot stomp from the middle rope! Throughout the contest Vince and Jesse talk about Borne competing in the WWF before but now has found himself in a better position. He is hoping to chop down some trees and make some waves here this time around.

The Powers of Pain w/ Mr. Fuji defeated Ty Dignman and Bobby Wallace. During the contest we hear about the power and strength of the Powers of Pain. They are a force to be reckoned with in the WWF and they will definitely be a challenger for the Demolition. Jesse says he thinks Fuji has got these guys primed for the upset. Vince knows that Demolition will be tough champions to beat and wonders if any team in the world could possibly do it. We’ll find out at SummerSlam!

Tito Santana defeated Jeffrey George. Vince and Jesse go back and forth on this one with Tito and Martel. We get an inset interview from Martel who let’s us know that Tito is just another challenger… he knows all of his offense and he will break his defense and once again reign supreme as the WWF Intercontinental Champion!

The Iron Sheik defeated Phil Quincy. Sheik doesn’t look the best here but he still has a name. Jake Roberts gives us an inset interview saying he’s come to the WWF to show the world just what he can do. It may start with the Sheik but it will be the end for anyone else in his way. Vince and Jesse put over Roberts as a top tier challenger and someone that Hulk Hogan and Rick Martel need to keep an eye on.

The Steiner Brothers destroy The Executioner and The Reaper. Vince is just gushing over these two… they are very raw but you can see the potential. Rick is pretty polished… we get an interesting spot during the contest though. Is that… Kevin Sullivan?! What is this guy doing.. We see Rick Steiner with a nasty German Suplex to set up a Bulldog for the finish. One his way out of the ring… Sullivan pulls him to get his attention. Scott comes over but Sullivan pushes him away. Rick backs off Scott… hmm.

The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart shake, rattles, and rolls Rico Bendito. Jesse says that Honky is returning from a world wide tour. He is going to debut his newest single and he is going to shake, rattle, and roll his way to a title here in the WWF before too long. Vince wonders what his real strength is… singing or wrestling because he doesn’t know. Honky looks good in the ring and he’s got some heat… is he the leader of Jimmy’s Hart Foundation?!

Terry Taylor makes his return to the WWF here and looks to be in tremendous shape. Jesse wonders just how well Taylor can be. Vince says he is a guy who trains all the time but also spends time studying the sport. He says Taylor uses technology to prepare for his matches and Jesse points out the science behind his success. Taylor with a nasty piledriver gets the victory and he looks good. He even kicks his opponent out of the ring saying he isn’t worth the hassle!

Jimmy Snuka w/ Andre vs Big John Studd w/ Hercules & Bobby Heenan - Showcase time and we’ve got all kinds of shenanigans outside the ring. The crowd is very excited to see Andre come out with Snuka. These two are a formidable team but we all know Andre is on the back end of his illustrious career. Studd handles Snuka pretty well but it is the interference of Hercules and Heenan that shakes things up. That is until Andre comes over and bangs their heads together. Snuka then with a dropkick on Studd’s back and he goes flying out of the ring to the floor! Andre picks up Studd and runs him into the ring post! The referee didn’t see it but still counts and gets to 10… Snuka is the winner! He and Andre look strong here… what will happen come SummerSlam?!
