The Thread Killer
I’m wondering if they are going to address who is going to end up fighting Randy Orton at WM41 tonight. I can’t imagine that he isn’t going to be on the show just because Owens is injured. I guess they could bring back Black or Rusev. Rey Fenix isn’t booked on the show yet. Some people are even speculating based on the RKO last week that it might be Nick Aldis?
strobogo
WM cards looking pretty weak to me. Whole build to everything feels like they're happy to coast because they're so hot.
sek69
Not everything is hitting, but Cody/Cena, Gunther/Jey, Roman/Punk/Seth are all matches I'm looking forward to. Charlotte/Tiffany will either be a great match or an entertaining trainwreck, and even Naomi/Jade has been built pretty well. I suppose compared to a typical AEW PPV with MOTY candidates from top to bottom it's kind of bland, but I expect a pretty entertaining show. Let’s be honest…Naomi isn’t really all that great, and Jade is pretty limited too. Lord knows, Jade has done her share of squashes.

Normally I'd say yes but considering Jade hasn't been winning many friends in the locker room I wouldn't be surprised if Naomi goes over. Especially since Jade's been beating her ass pretty much the entire build.

Looking strictly from the outside, reading news and reports and whatnot, apart from a few clips here and there (like Cena's turn and the Charlotte/Tiffany trainwreck), it absolutely feels that way. The reality is that Levesque is still coasting on whatever Vince/Nick Khan had started (Bloodline/Cody + TKO/Netflix/Saudi on the business side) and got handed CM Punk over. He's playing the easiest easy mode ever in term of booker and whenever they aren't that hot anymore (because that's how wrestling has always worked), then it'll get interesting... 8 hours ago, sek69 said: I suppose compared to a typical AEW PPV with MOTY candidates from top to bottom it's kind of bland This. I wouldn't watch it anyway, but I honestly look at the card on paper, and there's absolutely zero match that would make me apart from Charlotte vs Tiffany for very wrong reasons (and I guess Jade vs Naomi to see how much Jade has improved with proper training, ya know...). Also, the Cena heel turn has not bumped Netflix numbers in such a significant way. WWE probably has hit a plateau, which makes sense. They have been hotter than ever in term of selling out big-ass shows (and financially obviously, but for other well known reasons) for a while now. But at one point, you just reach your own limit. NintendoLogic
If WWE has hit a plateau, could that simply be due to the economy as a whole? I've long theorized that external economic factors play a bigger role in how hot a company is than most fans like to admit, so I wouldn't be surprised if all the recent uncertainty causes WWE to cool off somewhat. By the way, the Jacob Fatu/Braun Strowman LMS match is my current MOTY. You can always count on an Anoa'i to deliver in that environment. strobogo
I would think there's no way it can keep it up at this level much longer considering how insane ticket prices are and I have no idea who is affording that shit already, but then extra after the economy is tanked and the price of everything in life doubles. The Thread Killer
Ugh, that Karrion Kross elimination from the Andre the Giant Battle Royal was pretty rough looking.
The Thread Killer
Apparently Rey Mysterio might have been injured in that 6 Man Tag on SmackDown. There is fan footage of him being helped to the back. Hate to see it, but if that is the case and he can’t work tomorrow, at least they have a built-in replacement right there. El Grande Americano cost Fenix his shot at winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal tonight and Fenix isn’t booked on Wrestlemania, so they could easily have him substitute for Rey tomorrow. I doubt the fans would be disappointed.
sek69
Knowing the injury happened, I was looking to see what might have caused it. Looking at the way he splatted on the floor when Brutus pulled him out, and seeing him in the wide shot trying to pull himself to his feet by the announce table, it looked like maybe he got the wind knocked out of him when he hit the floor. sek69
Ugh, just saw the fan footage and he had to be carried to the back. That sucks to see.
C.S.
Cena vs. Orton is a greatest hits rehash, sure, but it damn sure felt like a big deal when Orton snuck up from behind and RKO'd Cena out of nowhere. I wonder if the plan is for Cody to disappear until SummerSlam. Probably not the worst idea in the world. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. C.S.
In the biggest coincidence ever, Rusev returns on Rusev Day. Damn, he got old. Like Black and Andrade, I'm not convinced this is anything other than a lateral move for him from WWE to AEW back to WWE, but at least there will be more zeroes on the paycheck. strobogo
Even that is not necessarily the case. They've been low balling people and people have taken lower offers to go to WWE than stay with or go to TNA/AEW. WWE really made a lower offer for Jordyn Grace than TNA. They also made such a lower offer to Stephanie Vaquer compared to the AEW offer that they told her to take the AEW offer initially.

sek69
I really like how the Gunter angle played out. It's easy to believe Gunter would lose his shit watching Jey celebrate not only winning his title but making him tap. Of course as the bully he would first target the announcer who wasn't a former NFL player who's done wrestling matches before, only attacking Pat when his back was turned. I don't know if Pat smartened up his friends or not, but either way them storming the scene only to be held back by security was great. Cole's speech to Pearce where he basically said fuck that bully I'm not letting him win was excellent. Joe Tess looking as disheveled as you'd expect someone who wasn't planning to have to work tonight and had about 30 seconds to get ready would look was a nice touch. What I liked the most was how they put over that touching the announcers was so beyond the pale that Michael Fucking Cole cuts a fiery babyface promo over it. Made it clear that these guys are going to be honest (in kayfabe terms) to the fans.
strobogo
I don't trust anything. Bron is about to get Ryback'd and be the one getting all the pins and gooned in this feud.

If they thought Pat was getting legit attacked by a pro wrestler on a pro wrestling show, they're a special kind of stupid. Therefore, I'm leaning toward them being part of the act. strobogo
The Cena we saw at WM vs the juiced to the tits Orton who avoids bumps that aren't the RKO is going to be absolute dogshit, regardless of the nostalgia or flip of alignments. Not literally as bad as Warrior/Hogan at Havoc, but that for this era.

The story with Grace is that she had to relinquish her OnlyFans. And she made ridiculous money with it. So her contract his probably better than her TNA one, but she makes a lot less money than she did overall. So, no Jeff Cobb, uh. So it appears it was really important he would not job the tag titles nor pu over Goto, because they had plans for like, *right now*... Yeah. The Cena vs Orton nostalgia is hilarious considering this program was a neverending rehash of rehash of dullfests as it happened. People will be nostalgic about just anything *cough TNA cough*.
