So, thoughts on the Cena/Styles match? I've only seen highlights, but I've heard varying opinions on how they were using the finishers of their opponents, some calling it just finisher spam, others seeing it as a callback to what they learned from their rivals.

I thought Cena/Styles was great Pro Wrestling Bullshit. It was two old bulls charging at each other one last time Paying tribute to some of their favorite guys to do battle with, ending up a love letter to both WWE and TNA legends in the same match. I loved Cole's line of "the greatest of all time and one of the all time greats" putting over both guys, and how even in defeat Styles had a look on his face of "you win, but god damn that was great".  Hell the best part of the whole thing might have been how the ring introduction was apparently a shoot that Cena wrote that Styles intro and AJ didn't know it was coming which was awesome.

So Chelsea Green did a challenge for her and Ethan Page for the AAA mixed tag titles. On one hand it makes sense since the current champs are La Hiedra and Mr. Iguana (who of course WWE has fallen in love with), but on the other I don't see the AAA fans accepting the WWE style mixed tags when women, men, minis, and exoticos fighting each other is one of the things AAA was known for.

I dunno. Seems like they already have accepted the fact tag matches are done under american rules already. Remember the "we are gonna present authentic lucha libre" ?

The fact La Hiedra, Samson and Forastero worked that event is interesting for sure though...

Yeah I have to wonder if when Stephanie Vaquer was dreaming of going to WWE that meant them employing her abuser as well.

It's obviously not great, but she's unlikely to ever interact with him again. It's not like Trips is rushing to put this dude on Raw or Smackdown ever.

Well, it's not like he even *could*, since Vaquer actually have a restraining order against La Hiedra. 😄 That's how bad it got.

Oh, I'm sure they'd talk her into dropping that, you know....for the dream 🙄

Well, they had her stand there when they announced they bought AAA. image.thumb.jpeg.a8e6530fc89d3cc32394e649b6dfcbca.jpeg

She looked elated too (well, about as much as standing all dressed up for the announcing of Bloodmoney-Mania).

Hey, who's that jolly fellow next to her ? (BTW, I don't see any outrage and fiery #freeAndrade campaign from the folks who were horrified by the inhumane treatment of Rey Fénix, you know, when he was *paid* to sit at home for a few months. These people are awfully quiet for some reasons)

I enjoy Andrade as an in ring talent, and I hope like hell that he or TK or someone finds a way to stand up to this nonsense. Not even so much cause I wanna see him wrestle, but just because I want to see someone tear apart WWE's bullshit contract system.

Man that was Jade's best match in WWE by a mile, who'd have thought booking her like Brock Lesnar works better. She's like opposite John Cena, she absolutely sucked as a face and should never have stayed that way so long.

Man, if Oba Femi doesn't make millions on the main roster it's gonna be really hard for Triple H to beat the allegations.

Really loving the AJ Styles/Dragon Lee pairing. AJ gets a title run to kick off his retirement run, Dragon Lee gets the rub from being paired with a top level guy, and they get to do cool stuff like the double stomp-to-Styles Clash combo they pulled off tonight.

This whole tournament for Cena's last match has been such a nothingburger, it's been perversely impressive how much of a wet fart his farewell run has been. The only part that has been even mildly entertaining has been the Dom stuff and that was almost entirely Dom doing the heavy lifting.

I barely hear about what happens over there anymore, but I got a good laugh out of Matt Cardona, after spending years doing a great job establishing his name and saying he would come back to WWE as Matt Cardona only, being brought back for the Cena dumpster fire retirement as Zach Ryder to do a sub-ten minute job. Classic shit there.

He's been trying to get back into WWE for years, that's been the motivation for his whole Indy God run. Especially with his wife working there now. Honestly it's the place he fits in best and he should be back there, if nothing else as a "veteran player/coach in NXT" type guy.

Speaking of NXT, Deadline was peak NXT booking. They finally seem to be doing something with Je'von, yet they have Tatum getting over with the fans but they have to beat her for HEAT.

This whole Masked Guy bit is interesting. They want you to think its Seth, but if it's going to end up Austin Theory I don't see how that won't be a disappointment.

It’s gonna be Austin Theory and it’s going to flop miserably.

Jey doesn’t really fit at the top right now given what they’re trying to do with Bron since they already feuded after the IC belt. So they gotta keep him hot somehow.

This company is just a random number generator at this point. UFC fighters have become faceless and replaceable; that same mindset has become as grating in WWE as it has there.

So I'm seeing Leon Slater is booked for Cena's retirement show. Apart from the fact it's sad WWE is putting their dirty hands on this guy who's way too good for them (and he's only 21 years old, which is crazy), it's also kinda hilarious from the TNA's point of view, as people expected him to be the future of the company for the upcoming years and you know what's gonna happen : as soon as his contract ends, he's jumping to WWE (unless Coach TK makes him a great offer, which he should, and Ospreay whispers into his ears about doing the better choice). And he's been in TNA for almost two years now, so at best he's probably got one year left.
