Tim Evans
Wow I can tell my list is going to be different than most. For example, Floyd has the II/TA vs Midnight's match at 9 and I have it at 140.
Kronos
Is there still a way to get this? I've had this recommended to me by a ton of people. I tried signing up at DVDVR but I've been waiting for over two weeks for an administrator to approve my account so I can post and such. i had to come over here, too, for the same reason. pm goodhelmet. Not trying to hijack the thread, but I couldn't get the DVDVR guys to approve me, either. Their email is non-responding, and I can't PM them. Oh, well. . . Heh, just goes to show how different everyone's ballots will be! The results should be interesting. To be fair that's not my final Top 20. Since I have a week to spare, I'm planning on watching the Top 30 or so matches on my list and see how they stack up side by side before mailing it off. It took me like 3-4 months to watch all this stuff so it's hard to compare Disk 1 to Disk 10 in my fragged-up memory stick I call a brain. As for the Midnight Vs. Mr. II/Magnum, I remember really digging it! The Midnights were their usual awesome self and The good guys were excellent playing off that to make an entertaining match. Plus I remember the crowd being super molton hot, which is probably why that particular match stood out for me. Hey for those who have watched some of the Mid-South countdown, any matches not on my Top 20 you think should be/ let me know and I'll give them a rewatch too. This was the most fun I can remember having with US wrestling probably since I was in high school and the Monday Night Wars made actual regular conversation among normal people. Definitely some of the best shorter matches I can remember seeing, personally. And yeah Dick Murdoch is so awesome. I agree with all of this as well, 100%! The most fun I've had in years. ALL these matches were new to me. I always wanted too see more of Murdoch and I got my wish big time on this set. Such an awesome and unique seller. And I expected more of a brawler but the guy can wrestle and go the distance too. my eyes were opened to the Guerreros as well. Plus Gordy got knocked up a notch. Windham/Murdoch from 7/11/87. That match at least IMO is better than any of the Flair/Taylor matches. I also liked Adams/Taylor from 5/3/87 and Jake/Slater from 1/24/86. Johnny P
Not much for my first post here, but I caught this today from the Meltzer update: "-The Watts family is releasing a DVD called Giants, Midgets, Heros and villains II featuring old Mid South Wrestling matches like Ric Flair vs. Ted DiBiase, DiBiase & King Kong Bundy vs. Steve Williams & Magnum T.A., Midnight Express vs. Jim Duggan & Junkyard Dog, Williams vs. Duggan, One Man Gang vs Duggan, Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich, JYD vs. Bundy, One Man Gang & The Assassin vs. Ernie Ladd & Mike Sharpe, Butch Reed vs Jim Neidhart, Andre the Giant & JYD & Mil Mascaras vs. Killer Khan & Gino Hernandez & Tully Blanchard, JYD vs. Missing Link, Buzz Sawyer & Dick Slater vs. The Fantastics and a lot more." Not great, but I guessw interesting. I'm about ten matches away from having the set done. Having gotten to see most of this for the first time I am confused by Watts' ex-wife not selling the collection to the McMahons. These DVDs they put out look average at best, and sure they have one or two matches you want in great quality, but after seeing what value you can get in a set like we just watched, I don't think most hardcore fans would be running to buy. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Selfishly I'd like to watch the TV in chron. order in perfect quality with new JR wrap arounds, so I'd like to see them sell it. I'd also love, maybe for perverse reasons, to see the WWE and people like Ross and Hayes fight over the voice of a Rise and Fall of Mid South DVD. I can't imagine they (Former Mrs. Watts) are making more money overall from distributing these single DVD sets, even when added up.
Bix
Andre the Giant & JYD & Mil Mascaras vs. Killer Khan & Gino Hernandez & Tully Blanchard isn't complete, is it?
tomk
When putting the set together we had an inccomplete version of this. I'm assumig we had it from Houston tape and not one we got from Mrs. Watts.
Johnny P
Alright,my top 20 and bottom ten are below for this set. A great experience that really was even better than I imagined. Gained alot of wrestling knowledge from the period. Could this be any better?! Bring on ano ther set! oh, and pretty much anything in my top 60-80 I'd re-watch at the drop of a hat. delacroix
here's a question; are you allowed to participate in this, meaning turn in a ballot, if you aren't a member of the dvdvr forum? i've had the set finished for more than a month now, but i haven't even bothered ranking anything because, since i couldn't get approved to post there, i assumed i couldn't turn in a ballot. i just saw that the deadline was extended again, so i figured i'd ask. Wade Garrett
Was the angle circa 1980 from the KTBS studio with Hayes, Kahn, and Dibiase included as an extra on this set? Just checked it out on youtube and it's fabulous. It's under Best of Mid-South/UWF angles. It runs about 1-1/2 hrs. Has a lot of fantastic stuff. Kahn is presented like a killer and Michael Hayes is FABULOUS. (Pun intended)

I had that one around ***1/2, and I don't think that would be too far off from where I would place it.
