I would try posting this on other forums too. I think you would get more responses. I don't think it matters if Misawa himself wrote the reviews to these matches. They're not going to get much response on this forum here because the mindset of the posters here is mostly elsewhere. I think the only match I've seen here is the last one. There could possibly be more discussion here if the matches were a little bit more known. I'm not saying they have to be classics to get discussion but just be a little bit more familiar to the reader. Edit -- Don't know what I was thinking. I've actually seen a few of these matches.

Got this from DeathvalleyDriver where it was found on spywareinsider Chris Jericho exited the building, and walked over to his white rental vehicle. The crowd watching him leave was heckling him, but he was ignoring it. He gets in his vehicle and drives out of the arena parking lot, right past the crowd of us. As Jericho stops at a stop sign, a fan runs into the street and starts banging on his rental vehicle. At this point about 50 people rush into the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic in several directions, with no police and very inadequate and incompetent security (no WWE security guards period). My girlfriend and I were literally in the very front of the crowd, and this all went down literally five feet away from us. Chris Jericho opens the door to his vehicle in the middle of the road, and the fan shuts the door back on him. Jericho then gets out of the vehicle completely, and punches the fan in the face! This prompts another fan to jump in (he was friends with the first) and attack Jericho, and Jericho scuffles with the second guy. At this point, a woman who knows the second guy who attacked Jericho starts to jump in and get in Jericho's face (because he was fighting her friend). This is where the Save on Foods Rent-A-Security Guards stopped standing around watching this happen (I swear they thought they were watching a wrestling angle or something), and stepped in to separate Jericho and the woman, who was shoving him. Looking at Jericho's face he was obviously ready to explode and was restraining himself...but then the sh**storm happened... He spit in the girl's face, and curses at her. The woman then spit in Jericho's face. Jericho then started cursing out the woman some more, and was getting ready to go back into his vehicle (as all of this is still happening in the middle of the road). While he was turning to go into his vehicle, one of the guys he was fighting shoved Jericho against his car. Another guy then shoved Jericho, and that time he bumped his head on the top of his vehicle. This was where Jericho seriously snapped. After bumping his head, Jericho went into a sh**storm, throwing and swinging at everybody around him. He knocked one guy to the ground, told another fan that he was going to "f**king kill you". The woman who got spit on was still yelling at Jericho, so he pie faced her away from him (because the arena security couldn't keep them separated). As soon as he put his hands on the woman, ANOTHER fan jumps in and starts swinging at Jericho. Jericho grabs the guy and starts throwing him to the ground, and at this point I have to yank my girlfriend out of the way and into some other people because Jericho had literally thrown himself and the other guy into our direction and we would of been knocked down by the scuffle. The arena security try again at this point to regain order, and two of them grab Jericho and start yelling at him to calm down, to which Jericho responds by taking a swing at one of the security guards and yelling at them to "do your f***ing job and get the f***ing police here". Then he shoves the second guard to the ground and tells him to "stay the f** off me". Well, as that happens, the chick lunges at Jericho AGAIN, and this time Jericho actually punches the woman in the face, and shoves her to the ground. This stunned everyone, and the girl's friends ended up jumping in trying to fight Jericho, to which he fought all of them off, then storms into his vehicle swearing and speeds off, running through a stop sign in the process. This whole thing happened over the span of about 5 minutes (of the street being blocked by this ordeal), and the woman ended up calling the cops on Jericho. They arrived 5 minutes after Jericho left, complete with a Paddy Wagon. The WWE's head of security did not see the incident, so he was there trying to figure out what happened along with the cops at the same time while yapping on his cell phone, and the woman is pressing charges against Jericho. As crazy and unbelievable this sounds, it can all be backed up with whatever police report was filed on the scene this afternoon. Another eyewitness account WNW reader Monique sent this in... I was a witness to a fight between a crazed male fan and Chris Jericho after the show on Feb. 7th 2009 in Victoria British Columbia, Canada. Chris Jericho was in his white SUV and leaving the arena when a crazed fan started chasing after his car and pounding on the front window. Jericho was stuck in traffic and the car came to a stop, and then the fan pulled on the car door and it opened! Jericho stopped his car and came out to pose for pics, when suddenly the same fan lunged for him and Chris Jericho threw a punch in self defense! A woman was pushed into Jericho as well and security was pretty lax, but finally they pulled the fan away and Chris was able to get into his SUV and drive safely away. The police arrived shortly after and hopefully arrested the fan for assault. Chris Jericho had taunted the fans in the show saying that he would take on anyone, but this fan took him seriously and took what Jericho said totally out of context! Glad that Jericho got away unharmed!!! It was very intense! WrestlingNewsWorld Another video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbnPUegD9f4

First Point you make I believe that two wrestlers especially ones that like working together are capable of having a match better than even what the biggest optomist thinks. We've seen this time and time again. People say well x and y are only capable of doing this and yet they go out there and surpass it. Also, while Dudley and Viscera do bring some good stuff in the ring but they're not on the level of Smith or Benoit so the comparison is not really fair. 2nd Point You Make -- In Japan, Owen may have been better. I'll never know because there's no footage of Benoit available from 88 and even if there was they wouldn't be in the same role. In Stampede however, Benoit I believe surpassed him in 1988. On his best day when he was hitting on all cylinders, I would say Biff (Not Beef, Maybe he turned vegatarian?) Wellington was up there too. Against Smith, they both had better matches against him that what Owen did. In saying that, I'm not taking away anything from Smith vs Owen. Owen was more flashy and deserved imo to be at the top of the card as he had the "Tiger Mask" effect on the audience. However, Benoit and Wellington too(Pillman I liked too but he wasn't as good as Owen yet) were up there. Owen had the fancy stuff but Benoit along with being fancy himself was getting more compact in his moves such as his crossbody block. The intense effort was coming across in his work and he had become a better body language seller than Owen. He was also getting smarter in the ring. Total package wise, I think he was a better wrestler. At least in Stampede. In Japan, it could've been a different story. Who knows? Wellington too in 1988 when he was on his best game was as good as Owen imo in the ring. He had several prefomances in 1988 which really impressed me where like Benoit he was showing a lot of fire and intensity in everything he did. In saying this, I'm not taking anyhting away from Owen. He was awesome back than. 3rd Point You Make The point I'm making is that when Smith is given the ball and the roll he can be really smart in the ring and run with it. 4th Point Bobby Eaton, Johnny Smith 5th Point All rankings in my blog are mostly my personal enjoyment of the match with some consideration thrown in for I how feel it effects the overall audience. It's mostly my enjoyment though. I enjoy Smith, Hart, Benoit, Rogers and others so yeah I'm going to rate them high but I don't throw extra enjoyment points on there just for the fun of it. Misawa vs Kawada I really enjoyed with I'm guessing my 8/10 rating of it which is an impressive grade. The fact is though that no matter how many times I try it doesn't knock me over like other matches who I've rated higher do. I've tried. There are over a thousand matches I enjoy better than this so other matches being ranked ahead of it don't show bias. Now if I were to grade the match on speculation of how it effected the average fan watching it I would give it a different ranking.

WWE history and their booking says Jericho jobs 100 percent of the time here. But you never know, they might go for a swerveand have Jericho winbut I doubt it. -
A better one to be sure. I would say it'd be positive overall. I also see D'Lo being cheered.

Thoughts on some of the DVDVR matches
Resident Evil replied to Resident Evil's topic in Megathread archive
Yeah, Santana vs Orndorff was pretty good. That's the one with the awesome clothesline spot IIRC. -
I think on any given night "any" two wrestling stars who can go in the ring are capable of putting on a tremendous match. I can never actually say a match is 5 stars because that's kind of like saying there's no room for improvement. And although I do think there are a few "perfect" matches out there, I still think there's always room for improvement. Benoit was capable than in 88 89 of wrestling a match of that caliber than especially with Smith who he loved working with. Even past 2000, he pretty much called him the best guy he worked with. When two guys love working with each other, great matches happen. Than there's all the house show reports which give more evidence of this. In 88, Benoit had improved in several categories and was actually better than Owen who was also fantastic at the time. Smith's job was different as he was a heel but he was as good if not better than anyone in the company at that time too. Smith had a strong mind for wrestling. Very good at complicated sequences before they became popular in North America. Strong execution and he was a very strong heel due to extremely good body language. Smith didn't get the chance too much in All Japan because that wasn't his place but when he got the ball some in 97 you got to see a lot more of his talent/mind shine there. So it's not a matter of speculating if they were capable. They were capable. These days, I don't talk about Benoit's matches or anyone's matches much as I don't watch too much anymore (KENTA vs Suzuki from 1/25 was excellent) but I will clarify myself on this. The match quality from the TV bouts from what I've seen varies some but they're all good+ to excellent. The two matches I was thinking about were 6/4 and 6/24. The beginning of the first match is excellent but the ending wasn't as good as the beginning though that was being saved for later primarly the 6/24 bout. The ending stretch of 6/24 was flawless though the beginning wasn't as strong as the ending. If one wanted to, they could fit those 2 matches together like a puzzle and we'd easily be looking at a 4 1/2 plus star match. For the Stampede style at the time, they nailed it perfectly I just call it as I see it. It's not being duped. Theoretically,it's impossible to be duped since personal enjoyment of wrestling is subjective. We like what we like and we don't what we don't. Bias is alive in all of us since once again wrestling is subjective.

Yeah, thanks Bix. Very interesting on many different levels. Man, I haven't watched any wrestling in months but the last time I did I could visibly tell there was a signifigant drop in steroid use. At least by some people. That being said, of course it was still there! For people who are watching, has there been any change in the physiques again? Is everyone getting bigger?

Johnny Smith was absolutely incredible as a heel in Stampede during 1988 and 1989 as well. He was one of my favourite heel acts ever from anywhere. He made a strong impression too on some of the younger Stampede wrestlers from this generation. He's thought very highly of by his peers. Smith vs Benoit definitely had it in than to have a 5 star match. I remember thinking that about their TV matches. If you could magically piece the starting of this match with the ending of this other match here we'd be around the 5 star mark. I would love to have handheld footage of the Stampede shows from the late 80s. So many great matches and it would really show how great Smith was to all the hardcore fans.

I thought Hansen had great charisma in the movie and really stood out. It's just not in the ring where his charisma shines.

No Holds Barred is a really fun movie with a great ending song. Is it the best movie ever? No. Is it silly at times? Yes but so are tons of other movies. It's a fun, watchable silly and not a stupid, please get me out of here type silly that everyone dislikes. It's more fun than 99 percent of the movies I see these days. And the fight between Hogan and Zeus is put together really well. Great fight.

Speaking of very good matches, I caught the end of Jericho vs Punk which was well very good. I'm glad that the WWE brought in Punk. The first WWE match I've watched in about six months so it brought a smile to my face to see that the Ontario crowd still rules.

This is pure trolling. If you want to start something because of whatever than take it to pm or something because I'm not trolling with you or anyone today.

And my point is that common sense tells one to be cautious around Lawler.
-
I don't hate anyone in life but if there's anything I hate it's people who go after children.
-
I wouldn't let him around the younger members of my family especially after some of the comments he's made. Lawler certainly doens't help his own reputation with the way he acts. Lawler from the first day I ever saw him gives off this fake aura with his body language and personality. I wouldn't trust him for a second. I would like to be proven wrong and I don't mean to be mean because that's not way I am but I'm very skeptical when it comes to Lawler

When? About the blood in Bret vs Bulldog. I've been cut from pieces broken glass several times during my life. It's amazing how easy it is to get cut by it even when you think the glass is all gone.

Funny thing about this is, excluding one person, everyone I know who read this book and liked it a great deal was a non-wrestling fan, and in fact a "book person." On the other hand everyone I know who didn't like the book was a wrestling fan. It doesn't surprise me that non wrestling fans would like the book. From my experience, even people who hate wrestling are still engrossed by wrestling stories as wrestling is just made for storytelling and talking. See Mick Foley. But how do you know non wrestling people who read the book? I don't even know of one person personally who's even heard of the book much less read it and I know a good amount of people who like to read books. And it doesn't surprise me that the people who didn't like the book were wrestling fans. Wrestling fans know more about wrestling than the average book reader does so in a book of this nature they can spot holes and whatever else in it much easier. It's only natural that this would happen. I'm a wrestling fan and I haven't even read the book but yet just from what I read on message boards, it was enough to make me roll my eyes several times. The personalities blindly and comically advertising the book in the defiance of logic (partially to show how "superior" they were to their peers) to the point of absurdity didn't help either. The one thing about this

The greatest things ever written on wrestling message boards
Resident Evil replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive
This makes me want to read more about the CIA/FBI and everything surrounding them. Nash and Hogan may not have as devoted as Guerrero and Benoit but they too were built from the same cloth. Hogan has a lot of the same working traits that Benoit and Guerrero do. Nash has some too especially when he was in the WWF and his first stint in WCW. -

Bix, you scare me. -
Did Foley in his book talk about how dangerous these are? I think you're signifigantly underestimating the danger of these matches. Wrestlers have more than enough reason to be scared of them.

This is Canada. CANADA = NHL. They were basically the same things. The NHL finals on TV back in 1988 was big as the NHL was an excuse for anyone back than. I can definitely see weather being a concern at times. Jason and Owen Hart were two of the biggest stars in the promotion. Jason was really good in the ring and charasmatic enough to the point where they were forced to turn him face. Owen was the central piece of Stampede. They're legit excuses. I'm not so sure about the blood though.

Haven't watched this since it aired but I remember loving it even more than the Whindam vs Scorpio bout. Excellent bout with Windham pulling off an excellent looking inside cradle IIRC.

Cena being a wrestler can see certain things about potential that we the fans can not.
