  1. I like DVDVR but let's be honost. It's well known to be the home of anti smarks and followers. It's contrarian to the max to the point where it is often made fun of at other boards. And I never paid any attention to that poll since I didn't care besides voting for Savage who I thought was awesome in Memphis. His speed, body language, intensity, promos, presence and punches were the best. It doesn't matter where they occur. It's still horrible. And I don't think that Memphis was full of guys with terrible punches. Savage for instance had awesome punches. You have something against Misawa's wrestling ability? Why? Guy was fantastic So? Big deal. It wasn't part of his regular like arsenal like Lawler's was. The move is one of the nonsensical moves in wrestling history It all depends. I am usually a fan of guys who take big bumps. Yeah, but it's a pet peeve of mine if not done right. The question was about personal pet peeves, not "reliable" ways to get heat. You got Lawler in the 90s working outside of Memphis as a joke wrestler doing his comedy/joke stalling and than not having any talent in the ring to back it up with. It's not like Johnny Smith in 89 who would go out and stall but than have the talent to back it up in the ring. Yes I hate Memphis style because it does use other things that American wrestling uses. It doesn't matter where it happens at. Stampede I had a lot of problems with too but there hardcore NHL tough style like wrestling was better overall to me so I could still enjoy the product. Don't know why you find that funny but Memphis style takes way less thought to do and as a result it is not as satisying to watch. I like matches where I can see the wreslers thinking and achieving. Russel would take a long time to talk about. Whalen too who is one of the more fascinating commentators. Predicability is one of the problems with North American wrestling. You can just see it more in Memphis. For things to become more meaningful again you have to break away from predicability before going back to it again. It's human nature. Memphis isn't part of the equation here. I know what Dylan likes in matches and was making a point that Richards can wrestle that way better than any of his favs can if he so chose to. If you honostly do not think that people hold Bruce Lee fights and Piper vs David in They Live in higher regard than 99% of movie/TV fights out there than I do not what to say. They Live's fight is tributed and talked about to this day as one of the best, most realistic ever. Bruce Lee as everyone knows is beloved by all. Once again, people tribute Lee all the time. He is a legend. You can't contrarian yourself out of this one. The difference between Lee and other fights is roughly the equivalent of Japanese wrestling to Memphis. Yeah, you have brainwashed yourself to a degree in believing that. It doesn't say much about the viewers of Lawler if they can be so easily duped into believing what he is doing and letting themselves get emotionally tied to it. Lawler comes off as a dangerous phony conman in real life .I've seen one f the Lawler vs Dundee matches. . I have seen Kobashi, Kawada and Misawa along with tons of others have a million matches better than Lawler vs Dundee. You know how people give auras or vibes? Lawler is one that likes sexually underage kids or childeren which has been proven by commentary. His overall phoniness with everything has been exposed there too. Maybe Lawler doesn't sexually abuse children, maybe he does. I don't know but I do know he gives off that same vibe that I feel from others who I know are sexually evil.
  2. Oh come on, dude, that's a total copout. You don't have to go back and watch anything. You can't come up with a single solitary memory of a match, angle, interview that you found to be eye rollingly bad? Bret's comments about it coming off phony echo mine. I watch wrestling for the fighting spirit ever sinceI was a young lad watching the WWF. I never was into the bad guy vs good guy thing. I liked the sport aspects of wretling. Years ago, I watched when Bret and Owen went down to Memphis to wrestle I believe Lawler and Jarrett. Even before the match occured, I knew the match would be toned down, basic, predictable and boring face vs heel structure wise. There would be nothing to stimulate my brain match structure wise. It would be toned down from even the WWF match structure which in turn was "toned down" from the WCW which was a step down from Japan. I was right. The match did nothing for me. I'm not even dissing Lawler here and I was actually a fan of Jarrett. Jarrett I liked. I blame a lot of the match's problems on Memphis structure and the King's phoniness. Pet Peeve #2 -- When a wrestler turns from face to heel they automatically go from exaggerated babyface to exaggerated heel at the tip of a hat complete with the fake begging off at the knees bit. Pet Peeve # 3 -- Heels begging off at their knees Pet Peeve #4 -- Basic tag structure always being the same and predictable. You need to change it up at times in order to give the basic tag structure more meaning otherwise it starts to mean "nothing" Pet Peeve #5 -- When the hot tag occurs -- heels always having to predictably get destroyed by the faces. Pet Peeves #6 -- Heels setting themselves up for bodyslems by running into them Pet Peeve #7 -- Maybe my worse wrestling pet peeve ever. Heels running into weak, lazy punches that don't even hit after the face gets the hot tag. I was actually watching a good Memphis tag the toher month but this just ruined it. Pet Peeve #8 -- Wrestlers getting their head slammed into the turnbuckle 10 times over and the crowd counting along and it always having to be the face that does it Pet Peeve #9 -- Ditto on the 10 punches in the corner turnbuckle bit Pet Peeve #10 -- Too much emphasis on punching to the point where it doesn't mean anything. Pet Peeve #11 -- Fistdrop from teh second rope Pet Peeve #12 -- Anything in a Jerry Lawler match Pet Peeve #13 -- Stalling when you're not a good wrestler as you don't have anything to bring the fans out of boredom once you get back into the ring Pet Peeve #14 -- Reffs being blind to cheating heels Pet Peeve #15 -- Match structure doesn't take as much thought compared to anything else in the world Pet Peeve #16 -- Heels and faces always having to wrestle a certain way -- only allowed to hit certain moves -- Too predictable and makes things comes off as phony. Things I like -- Macho Man and some of the interviews Who if he wants to can wrestle your style of match better than any of your favs. And in his defense of ur roid accusation, he has no obvious signs of steroids that so many other wrestlers do. Is he on or isn't he? I don't know but there's no obvious signs. It all depends on the person watching it and his/her reactions to it. The emotions it generates. For some it can be great, for others it can be horrible. For me, yeah it is fact, I don't like Memphis wrestling because it is everything I hate about wrestling. For you, it's different. However, with that being said it is pretty obvious that Memphis wrestling can come off as pretty corny when in comparison to other wrestling around the world. Because you love it that way. Don't deny it! The same way any movie/Tv fight is more phony than Roddy Piper/Keith David in They Live or a Bruce Lee fight. Ask anyone what they think is phoniest. You know what the answer is. It's the same thing with Memphis wrestling. You judge wrestling by how it effects its audience -- yes that's true --- but you also judge it by how it effects you. You can also judge how it will fare among people who don't watch it or among wrestling fans who watch different styles. I think Memphis because of its phoniness hurt its growth potential to go beyond what they had. I also think that they would have troubles in other markets outside of Memphis because of this. Yes they got some heat and kudos to them for it but I think they handcuffed themselves as well. I feel sorry for you here. You have no natural instinct to warn yourself of sexual predators or people that just come off as phony in life. Your mind and emotions also can't seem to comprehend what makes Sayama vs Kid so incredible for me and the fans back than. You're missing out and I feel bad for you over that. It is legit one of the best matches ever. And while I'm on a roll -- Pro Wrestling = MMA
  3. Fixed. From Bret Hart's book "Memphis had always been the most insane outpost of the goofiest and phoniest types of wrestling and wrestlers, going back to the 1960s" "We had a great time working the fans up and went on to have a fabulously phony match" Some of my thoughts as well but I suppose I'm majically reading them from Bret's book which must have never existed. Memphis just has too much phony wrestling. The king maybe the phoniest of all. A lot of people share those thoughts as well. I know it maybe cool now to like the faker wrestling and diss the more realistic wrestling (see Dylan's nonsensical comments) but I'm just telling it like it is. If you like it fine, but if you were to ever take a worldwide fan survey among wrestling fans who were educated, Memphis would come out on top for being the phoniest. You probably want to respond with some kind of all prowrestling is phony garbage but save it. It doesn't change reality. Let's hope he doesn't have sex with 5 yr olds. That is true evil. Your actions in the IWC indicate you love having extra ammo -- murder -- in your made up inaccurate wrestling analysis attacks on Benoit which even existed before he got brain damaged from wrestling and killed Nancy and Daniel. I think that's sick. And using murders in a futile attempt to try to put me down on a message board? That's pretty sick too. Get over it. I think Terry Taylor vs Rip Rogers is an excellent match while you have it listed as good. It's a difference of opinion. DEAL with it. Mike, sorry but I just can't go back and watch more Memphis wrestling.
  4. Memphis is often corny wrestling. Why do you think so many wrestling fans dislike Memphis wrestling? ECW wasn't though it could be at times. Japan is often anti Memphis wrestling which is refreshing. The end.
  5. Jesus fucking christ. I wasn't aware I could possibly hate him even more than I already did. Every time I hear some prick expound on how women are inferior to men, especially with a religious motivation, my pimp hand must fight back a terrible urge to go on a bitch-slapping rampage. There is a lot of truth to this quote though I don't agree with using religon as an excuse as I'm not religous. BUT there are some important things that have to be specified otherwise things may go wrong which I won't go into detail on here. I would never tell someone exactly what is said here because I wouldn't want them to go about things in the wrong way. Female dog slapping is a derogative term to women which makes them look inferior to men btw. So you agree wives should submit to their husbands? You have to define submit .... I'm a believer in free will and whatever makes the female and male the most happy. As asked the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes big time NO.
  6. Which is funny because ECW was heavily influenced by Memphis. ECW in a lot of ways was the complete Anti Memphis too. I almost never want to watch Memphis wrestling but I do like ECW (although not all things in it) Memphis had some good wrestling but they had all of my biggest, stupidest roll your eyes back in your head pet peeves in wrestling too. A little bit of anti Memphis Japanese wrestling always washes that bad taste out though.
  7. If the Undertaker got his powers back, I think you need him destroying someone high on the totem pole to showcase that. Punk is the perfect fit for that. Heel, personality and talent wise. It's a feel good moment for the fans and it's something Punk can recover from since he has the talent.

  9. Kid vs Razor was classic!
  10. I had forgotten that the "Double-J" gimmick was supposed to be that Jarrett was such a bad singer he couldn't get a recording contract so he decided to use the WWF for publicity. I just don't get how that was supposed to get him over at all. I think Double J's gimmick is really underrated. It was a personal favourite of mine and I noticed it really caught on with a lot of my peers and made people notice him. JE Double F, JA Double R, E Double T. That's Double J, Jeff Jarrett is a phrase nobody forgets:)
  11. The biggest assests you need to make it in MMA before anything else is athletic ability and the right mindset. If Rock had decided back in the day to go into MMA instead of pro wrestling and prepared himself for it, there is no doubt in my mind that he would've made into MMA. I'd put big money on it that he'd do very well. I'm trying to figure out what martial arts background Rock had that would have made him a MMA guy of any note. He played football at The U. This isn't like Dr. Death who played football and was an NCAA wrestling All-American. Rock's dad was a pro wrestler. It doesn't mean that Rock's dad was a *wrestler*. He, we don't even know if Rock can fight. The difference between Rock and Brock is that Brock actually had a martial arts background: he was a NCCA champion wrestler. In another generation people will be talking about how all those West Texas State guys would all have been big in MMA, and half the rubes will be buying the bullshit. John The biggst thing you need as a foundation to be a MMA star is athletic ability and the right mindset. Rock has both. In the interview, he says that if MMA was as big as it was than he would've gone and tried his hand with MMA instead of professional wrestling. That means back in the 90s he would've trained specifically for MMA and do whatever training was necessary in that discipline to make it. You combine that training with his atheltic ability and the mindset he has. He would've made it as a MMA star. There is no doubt in my mind.

  13. Yeah, this was pretty risque back in 1996. I honostly can maybe only think of one instance on Canadain Tv before 1996 (and that might've been after) where I saw a lesbian kiss and that was on the news. They were hot though! Ellen when she came out as lesbian on her TV show was big news. I remember the Sailor Moon show having to change the gender of one of the main villans because of the worries over showing two lesbians kissing. In a way, I liked it like that. It made you appreciate an erotic lesbian kiss a lot more than today where it's now so easy to find whatever you want.
  14. Oh he is he thinks yawning is a signing of weakness both in himself and others. Ive seen Bret's affect on women at close quarters twice, he isnt so much a desperate, dirty old man or even that he is famous (a la Flair) women just want to mother him. Yawning is a sign of weakness. It means you're tired which means you're not at your full functioning capacity. It doesn't mean you're a weak person but rather one that is weaker than what they could be.
  15. Oh come on, Vince may be crazy, but he's not that crazy. Oh Bret, will you never learn... I always suspected that spitting was looked down upon in the WWE/WWF. It's interesting to hear that. When Danielson spit on Cena, I knew he was going to get in trouble. Than when he chocked out Roberts I knew there would be a lot of trouble. That's awesome that Vince hates people smoking cigarettes. If there's anything I hate in life, it's people who force others to inhale their ciggarette smoke. The sneezing thing is amusing but worrisome. Bret getting the women doesn't suprise me in the least. Makes perfect sense.
  16. I like the reporter saying that WWE pulled in $1.7 billion in merchandising in 1990 and having more revenue than the NFL. And that was a down year for them! Along with a part time referee Rita Marie earning $500,000! It wasn't said she was making 500K. She said she was told that it would happen.
  17. Every post you've ever made on the internet highly suggests otherwise. And where have I ever stated taht I like muscle on a women's body in a sexual sense? Do I respect it? Yeah, you better believe it. I know the hard work it takes especially for a women who has a harder time developing muscle than a man does. As far as men goes, I don't find it sexually attractive on them which I kind of guess is what you're referring to. However, I do look up to them as role models for their work ethic. Now the first question, I am not an expert on how the human mind works. There are a lot of people smarter than me who know a lot more than I do. I however have studied a lot on how women worked and thought about other people's relationships and my own interactions. I've listened to people who know more than I do. With this comes study on how the male mind works and I have always been interested in how to improve myself. Since I myself am different, I wanted more perspective on that. Ok now I'm outta here. If anyone wants to ask me a question than PM me because I don't want to get sucked into talking about this anymore. I may or may not answer.
  18. Sigh, I don't have much free time. I'm on 3hrs sleep and it's 2 in the morning here. I am tempted for arguements sake to go into more detail but I actually don't want to go into what makes women tick (and yes I know what makes men tick too) and give helpful insight because of the way I've been treated. Hmmm, 7 readers reading this topic. Maybe I should've become a wrestler and you guys could argue all day on wether my matches were worked or not. I'd be a great draw. Heeey Phil!! To clarify, yes everyone does not fit in the same box. We are all different and as a result we find men who are total alpha males or we have men who were perhaps raised on too much soy!!!! and have turned feminine. Likewise we have women who are totally feminine to women who have more masculine traits to feminists who have brainwashed a lot of people. Not everybody has the same tastes. There are rules though that govern are actions that are derived from the desire to reproduce wether one thinks they want to reproduce or not. We are wired that way. And I will go to my grave defending the statements that feminine women are always on the look out for the top male. That they pride themselves on not being loose due to that wiring. Now here's the catch. Pure physical strenght is only part of the equation. In fact, weaker physical males can win out if they have other top traits within them (a lot of people don't have them though) that the strong physical male might not have. It is more difficult and a longer process for a women to find out if a man is the real deal than it is for a man to find the woman he wants. Biology drives women even if they are not conciously aware of it. It is amazing to see how powerful all this is in action. A feminine woman likes being feminine. We males love masculine things but when it comes to women we want feminine things. Look at it this way. You take the most beautiful woman in the world BUT give her a masculine voice and chances are you will not be attracted to her. So if a women's voice becomes more masculine, you will be less attracted to her the more masculine it gets. True or False SLL? A guy is looking for a feminine women and building too much muscle is not feminine. The ideal mate will not have too much muscle. Now this brings to me a fascinating point. It has been recently discovered and I believe proven that a women's voice becomes more feminine and attractive to her male companion the more attracted she is to you. This I can attest to with 100% certainity as I have experienced it myself. Edit -- I would like to mention that I do love a women who exercises overone who doesn't. It is a terrific sign that a female wants to keep herself in shape because it is better for her health and to keep me attracted to her thus keeping us both happy. I am just not sexually attracted to muscle on a body. I'm not attracted to women who are out of shape either though I can love them as friends.
  19. Seriously? More men would rather have Serena Williams than the babe in Transformers? Do you have some polling that shows that? Because I'm pretty sure the polling I've seen shows Ms. Transformers way high and Serena not even rating anymore. Let's not even get into the other "gene" aspects of Ms Transformers vs say the intelligence genes of some homely but reasonably athletic women who graduated from Harvard magnum. When people check out the Girls of the Ivy League spread, are they checking out those GPA's for potential mates, or checking out the hooters and thinking about who they'd simply like to bang? Okay... John I never watched the Transfomers movie because I do not like what I have seen of Michael Bay's work. I have heard that the woman put in the Transformers movie for guys to look at may be too skinny. I'm not sure on that and I may be wrong because I haven't seen the movie but I would still like to comment on it. Unfortunately in life, some guys have been programmed through teh media and society to find women that are too skinny attractive. This is someting that is bad, bad, bad, bad. Deep down on an intinct level it is my belief that they don't but it is extremely difficult to overcome the influnce that is our enviornment. Women are also programmed this way to think they're supposed to be too skinny and all it does is make women unhealthy and guys and girls unhappy. As far as athletic women go, if a women is too athletic she becomes more manly to the eye and thus less attractive to straight men. One wants to high five a female buddy like you would your male buddy for developing the muscle but as that happens the desire to mate with her becomes less and less. A man tends to want a feminine woman as a mate. Ok, I will go on talking forever and I really want to go do other things now so this time I'm leaving the thread for sure.
  20. I think you'll find that even the ladies you find ugly, most of them would be perfectly capable of bearing you healthy children. Yes, but a man always wants the best genes for his kids so the female who is best capable of that will be the one he is most attracted to all other things being equal. I am not familiar with Kate Moss (I don't really know how she's built) so I youtubed her name " and judging by the 15 seconds I watched from this I noticed she has a waist to hip ratio that is attractive to men. There is a certain percentage -- I forget what the exact number is -- of a waist to hip ratio that is most attractive to men. I forget what the exact number is but if you divide they hips into the waist and get a certain perecentage give or take a little bit it is pretty much a lock than men will find the lady attractive. Yes, that has been backed up by scientific research.
  21. It's certainly possible but to me there's too many indicators that the WWE really likes him and from what I heard once Vince too. Maybe it was some kind of test to see if he could handle being buried and if he could still be over after that? Or maybe they're just getting too cute booking or a little bit of everything. Who knows?
  22. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. It's be awesome to see Bret say something to the effect of yeah this Danielson guy is the new generation Bret Hart and pass the torch to him in some way. The only problem is that Ontario will want to see Bret with the tilte especially after being promised a Bret vs Miz match. I wouldn't want there to be some kind of backlash to Danielson right off the start. Ontario in a unique fan baSe so it will be interesting to see how things turn out. Bret's a smart guy though so if he wanted to he can figure out a way to really help DANIELSON.
  23. Ok, I will accept your opinion. Maybe, I'll go a step further now. People can surely agree the point of sex and the reason it is pleasurable is so that it will push you into having children?
  24. As far as the questions go, there are general overall rules on a women's behaviour when it comes to love and how a male triggers or repels it. Everyone is of course different but the general rules are there. It's all rooted in biology. I've studied it, talked to people who have studied it a lot more than I have and have come to the same conclusions they did after thinking about interactions with women. When you experience and can see the whole overview map things make sense. Growing up, I was "confused" as a lot of guys are since love for a women is more complicated and often times a contradiction. They have to be more sure when hooking up than guys do and with that process comes complications. Just for the record here, people don't believe this???? Nobody believes that a woman generally is geared to look for the man who will give her the strongest children? As per the original statement, Nobody believes that a woman generally is biologically programmed to be not loose? HONOSTLY? SERIOUSLY? Nobody believes that a man generally is geared to look for women who will give him the healthiest children? (To S.L.L yes we are also rooted to stay with our children as well) And as a result we have actions stemming from that which guide us into choosing a mate? For ex, When I find a woman I like, what attracts me to her at first sight is how good looking she is. That is from an instinct level that tells me she would be able to produce healthy children wether I have made the decision mentally or not to have children.
  25. I shouldn't have made such a blanket statement originally as it's not that clear and simple (I wasn't planning to write pages over one comment) but I always thought it was obvious that men in general have a tendancy or are more open to be with multiple women and that women have a tendancy to want to stick to fewer or 1 man. That's based in human nature and comes out in statements like the one sek originally commented on. People can at least agree to that, right???? I'm not even here even saying it's right or wrong. It's just the way it is. I don't even know where to start but I see up there that JDW is way off on at least some things. It would take awhile to explain but like I said people aren't open here and are being closed minded afraid of reality. Besides, it's time for LOST. I'm done in this thread until the subject is changed. Ty.
