  2. Dylan please elaborate on the Court Bauer thing you mentioned.
  3. I have had a review like 95% done for the past 2 weeks but I haven't made the gifs yet. I'll try and get to it soon. The real reason for posting tonight is just to give an update that this thread will continue thanks to the help of Busterira, Kris Z and Smack2k. I have a brand new stack of 87 discs of good ol' Alabama wrestling sitting on my desk. Now I just need to figure out what is what...
  4. I think it would be short sighted for them to look at the number of views for the older stuff and decide that it's not worth their time to upload more. I realize that it's easy for them to upload WCCW & ECW because those have already been edited, but that also means they have already been seen by a significant number of the hardcore audience that also was subscribing to CoD. I thought having all the old PPVs would be cool, and it is, but without the TV in between it's just not that big of a hook for me. I would like to see Mid-South, SMW, Florida, AWA, St. Louis, Georgia, WCW Saturday Night, the list goes on. I'm not asking for everything at once obviously, but just give me ONE of those in a regularly updated schedule to show me that you actually care about using the insane amount of footage that's in the vault.
  5. It doesn't really matter how good the matches are, watching random matches doesn't keep me interested for long either. I really like watching things in context and enjoyed watching 1986 Continental and have been watching a lot of 1990 USWA Texas lately too. Just pick a starting point for a promotion and a time period that interests you and go from there.
  6. My guess is something to do with TNA's TV deal.
  7. At this point Classics on Demand was far better about constant updates. I guess this is really just a split between people who want archive footage and people really only have it to watch PPVs for cheap and maybe some of the documentaries.

Yea, I posted that too straight from the Observer. But that didn't mention the swing specifically.
  9. It DID draw. Look at the crowds they had. It just didn't draw on a level that could match their spending. It was drawing like a territory and they wanted to be a national promotion. Or had to be a national promotion to keep their talent from going to WWF or WCW. They pretty much were screwed once WCW and WWF got hot. I don't see any way they could have kept things hot after 1998 once there was money for the wrestlers to be made elsewhere.

I feel like people are going to look back on that mini run of Batista's a lot more fondly in a few years, especially since they did the right thing and went with Daniel Bryan at Mania in the end anyway. The Triple Threat was way more interesting than Bryan vs. Orton would have been on it's own.
  11. Is the play by play announcer position the toughest job in wrestling? I was just thinking about how many great wrestlers, managers, bookers, promoters, even referees that there have been in wrestling but the number of great announcers probably doesn't even hit double digits.
  12. That's perfect but it can only work if Cena is ready to call it quits. You run that angle, then do a redemption angle for him and then retirement. That's true. I would say it would have to come in his last year/year and a half of being full time. Which doesn't seem like any time soon based on Cena's comments about how long he wants to keep going.
  13. When they seem to have an actual plan for what they are putting up I might jump back in. Until then I already have enough unwatched wrestling that's piling up on DVDs and hard drives to worry about it.
  14. I feel like the only motivation that Cena can have for turning heel is the company moving on from him. Not the fans because he has had haters since 2006. He can't turn heel and say it's because "the fans turned their back on me." Well what is new? The only thing I could see making Cena turn bitter is if WWE starts using someone else as the face of their company. I think there is a lot more mileage out of angry Cena wanting to ruin the New Ace to get revenge on the company that used him up and spit him out than him coming out and just heeling on the fans.

So 411 via PWInsider via WrestleZone is reporting that WWE told Cesaro to stop doing the Swing because it had gotten too over with the crowd.

  17. I had to vote No but I would like to vote Not Yet. Not until they are sure that Roman Reigns can be what they want. That's why I would have liked to see them NOT cool off Cesaro so they could have another guy to plug in like they did with Batista when the Orton push failed way back in 2004. And I think they can use him in a way that keeps him out of the title picture and away from whoever they decide they want to push as his heir. The guy has a ton of past history at this point, I always thought it would be fun to have someone exploit that. John Cena needs an Eddie Gilbert to his Jerry Lawler, someone to twist his legacy and try and paint him as a fraud who used up the people who helped him get to the top. Bray Wyatt should have done a new take on the "This Is Your Life, Jerry Lawler" deal rather than whatever the hell they were doing. They could have run weeks of past Cena allies and enemies coming to take their shot like Billy Kidman, B² Bull Buchanan, Redd Dogg, Rene Dupree, Carlito, the list goes on and on of guys they could bring in for one-shots like Batman being worn down before Bane breaks his back.
  18. I wish I could get Dylan to make me an update for TEW 2010. I need new talent.

    From the Observer: Just stupid.
  21. I would rather watch a match like this that is just two guys knowing how to do schtick and work a crowd while barely taking any bumps than some fast paced spot fest with a bunch of flashy moves that don't get sold. Marc Lowrance seemed lost trying to call this match at times, which only added to the charm.
  22. I guess I'll be the only one to come along and say that I like Garvin, especially on color. This match was a lot of fun and would not have thought Billy Joe Travis would be the star of the match just looking at the names. But I'm becoming a big Travis fan. The punches, his reactions, his promos, he was awesome.
  23. Or he's probably making more money doing Japan and indy dates without the depressing non-existent TNA house show audiences to work in front of. But that wouldn't be a very PC thing to say.
  24. Davey Richards deserves a lot of criticism but I don't think it's fair to call him selfish if he didn't want to work the WWE schedule.
  25. I never really mind the way he jumps around as long as he eventually gets back to the main point. My attention span is the absolute worst, maybe it helps my ADD brain stay engaged when he jumps all around the place.
