He could be a tag team guy, but he definitely doesn't have it to be a singles guy. There's just really nothing interesting about him, he needs a strong personality like Ryback to play off.
  2. Loss has a good point. Austin isn't discussed that much because there really is nothing to argue about him. Everyone seems to know and agree how important he was. The only real thing to talk about with Austin is "what-if" scenarios like "what happens to WWF if Austin can't return after Summerslam 97" or "how much bigger could he have been had he never had the neck injury"
  3. Dylan how do you know like every wrestler ever? I just spent a lot of time watching Kongo Kong videos. That guy is awesome.

They just have terrible writers. Back in the old days you could make tons of money on a guy you knew was only going to wrestle like 3 or 4 matches and do 12 TVs. They just don't know how to use someone who isn't there every week. Or people who ARE there every week.

They have no idea how to use Heyman to get someone else over. I don't think it's because he can't do it, they just aren't trying. He just gets paired with whoever they want to push at the moment and then they think that was the push and now they're done.

Unrelated to that stuff, I have no idea what they are doing with Cesaro. Even if Swagger is eventually going to lose to Rusev, he is WAY more over than Cesaro right now. Cesaro has been on a complete nosedive since WrestleMania which is weird because they did all the right things right up until he joined with Heyman. I guess the idea is a long term payoff of Lesnar/Cesaro but I'm really not too confident that's what they have in mind. They seem to just think that throwing Heyman with someone will help get them over even though it did nothing for Cutis Axel and derailed Ryback's amusing backstage bully vignettes.

  8. Sillier and less sportsmanlike than a St. Louis gut. I can't stop laughing.
  9. Hah, Tim, Ricky Morton's "I sold out everywhere" is pretty much a meme in itself. Have you seen the twitter? @rickymortonsays
  10. I watched a shoot interview of Big Daddy V and he said the original idea was him coming out in ONLY wrestling trunks. What we ended up with was the compromise.
  11. I caught the Paul Orndorff/Gary Spivey thing and it was really funny. I wish you could search for these because I haven't seen the ones for Regal or Dustin and I rarely watch the live feed.

  13. Smack2k and I are working together to try and find more footage and Tim Noel may know someone with some unconverted VHS so I'm confident that if any more footage exists that we're eventually going to find it. I'm less confident that it exists. In the meantime, is there any interest in starting a separate thread in the same style with recaps for SMW TV? It's got a lot of the same Continental guys like Tom Pritchard, Dirty White Boy, Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden, Rip Rogers, Danny Davis, Bob Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Tim Horner, plus Tracy Smothers, Steve Armstrong, Brad Armstrong and probably guys I'm forgetting show up later.
  14. Sorry to bump an old thread but I've watching some Jim Breaks footage lately and just wanted to thank you for this thread. He feels like an all time great when I watch him, it's unfortunate how few people on the net today have really watched him.

Plastic mask phase had potential but by the end of it I thought it was just terrible. I liked the handing out of paper bags but Cody as a comic book villain was not how I think they should have gone with it.
  16. I never really thought much of Tommy Gilbert until I saw this clip where he comes off as very intimidating and downright scary while talking about Buddy Wayne messing with his son Eddie. I'll bet he hit a hell of a hot tag in the eventual tag match with Eddie where Eddie takes a beating from Buddy & Ken Wayne:
  17. I think his run in SMW before Ricky Morton shows up really highlights that Robert by himself isn't very good. I've seen someone praise his heel work in the SMW vs. USWA feud but I can't remember who it was.
  18. That was a finish that really pissed if you off as a fan, but at the same time I think it really did help Ambrose and it gave an answer to the question of "why would Seth Rollins leave The Shield?" Well because having Kane stop everyone else from winning and holding the ladder for you so you can get MITB is a pretty nice perk.

Stardust is the best thing Cody's ever done. Well no, second best thing. Those Dashing videos where he gave us all hygiene tips were the best. And I don't think Bryan will retire. I think even if he ended up where he couldn't get cleared by WWE to wrestle he'd go back to the indies.

Why is she making light of the way he objectified her!?

  22. Why is a vertical suplex a legal move? You have to use the other guy's trunks to hold him up. You can't pull the tights!

  24. How much of the current WWE fanbase even knows what Saturday Night Main Event or Clash of the champions is? I guess they would have to show clips and give a brief history if they cared. They have the time. They certainly waste enough of it on advertising Twitter which I haven't actually figured out how it's making WWE any money yet.
