  1. I would take Kerry over Sting, easily. He was a better draw and before the motorcycle accident I think he was a better worker.
  2. I despise the finish to that, where Orton taps while the crowd counts down. He tapped with 2 seconds to go, IIRC -- at that point, you're insulting the audience. Why hold on through the countdown and stuff only to tap 2 seconds before? It's not like he couldn't hear the chanting counting down. I let it go because it's happened in MMA at least twice that I can recall. Can't remember the one that was quite recent, but back at UFC 50 GSP tapped out to a Matt Hughes armbar with 1 second left in the 1st round. I found it far more frustrating when it happened watching the GSP fight than I did the Orton/Cena match.
  3. I know that I'm very much in the minority with this opinion (maybe the only one) but I absolutely loved the Cena/Orton Iron Man match from Bragging Rights 09. It was my favorite match of the year but it's not a match that most people seem to rate much better than "good."
  4. Anyone else getting an Account Suspended message from DVDVR? I haven't posted there in a few days so I'm assuming it must be some kind of error, but I don't know if it's limited to just me.
  5. I tried to come up with something to counter this but I couldn't. I had never thought about this before but it's probably true.
  6. The Harris Bros actually looked pretty good in the very early TNA weekly PPV days. I forget which one, but one of them had a really fun series of brawls with Malice.
  7. Anyone know why they released referee Scott Armstrong in February 2010 only to bring him back a year later and immediately give him the Elimination Chamber main event and HHH vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania? Was it just a case of "We forgot we were trying to downplay the refs and pretend they all don't have names when we gave you this angle with CM Punk, so now we have to fire you because the fans are cheering you."?
  8. Yes. Don't you know that moment ruined the boom period Goldberg was about to usher in!?

Yes that's why in reality. Cena wasn't cleared in enough time for them to feel comfortable advertising the match, even though I think he IS cleared now. In storyline, it was pretty much just Punk had to choose between Cena or Ryback and then Punk didn't choose so somehow Cena decided to give the match to Ryback.
  10. This is true of pretty much ever fondly remembered promotion/era though. When people talk about how great Memphis was they aren't talking about Ta-Gar Lord of the Volcano or the Christmas Creature. Nobody is waxing nostalgic about Master Gee in Mid-South or Al Madril in World Class. I'm sure people who've seen more 90s All Japan, ECW, and "golden-era" RoH than me could list examples of crappy things that get passed over when people talk about how much better wrestling was back then than it is now.
  11. Speaking of Blackjack Mulligan, has anyone ever seen him where he doesn't look terrible? What I saw from him in the 80s in WCCW and Florida was awful. I didn't think he looked good in the matches I saw him in on Cornette's Garbage Tapes either, which seem to be from the mid 70s. Dude throws some of the worst punches I've ever seen.
  12. Apparently the deal is finalized now. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/10/21/3060...e-to-terms.html
  13. Yea using Brock to get over a new talent would be such a waste. I would bet every single dollar I have that Brock costing Ryback HIAC leading to Lesnar vs. Ryback would be a hotter match than HHH vs. Lesnar II. You know that feud that fans were so into they mockingly chanted "You Tapped Out" to HHH when he was pretending to consider retirement.
  14. Halftime Heat was a really smart idea. Put on a big unique match between two of the top stars at a time when people are looking for anything to watch other than the Superbowl Halftime Show. They promoted the hell out of it too.
  15. I would actually take the sales as a sign that it's still on. They have been pretty committed to charging full price over the years.
  16. I don't think this is where they are headed, but what would you guys think if the Ryback/Punk interactions lead to Heyman bringing Lesnar back to take out Ryback? I have been saying since they signed Brock that they should use him to put over Sheamus but it seems like Ryback is the new project, so it would be a really good way to put him over the top. Plus it would keep him away from the WWE title for a while so they could maybe build up his first title match into a big meaningful win.
  17. This is pretty much the reason why I think WWE thought Edge was a great actor. Because he would deliver their crappy material with enthusiasm and without seeming embarrassed to have to do it. Why anyone else would think Edge is a great actor, I have no idea.
  18. What utter ****. So who is on board with a class action lawsuit? LOL
  19. It is kind of admirable how they've kept going even after losing pretty much all their top stars. I know if WWE lost just John Cena, CM Punk & Randy Orton in a couple year span like RoH they would be in really bad shape too. And that's just losing the top 3, which is far less than RoH has lost.
  20. I don't really get what they want from Sheamus. From all accounts it seems like they really want to establish him as the next big babyface behind John Cena. However they haven't really done anything to help him other than just slap the belt on him and let him hold it a long time. The title ended up backfiring, the feud with Del Rio was never ending and dull, they have written some really awful material for him like the deal with him wearing the Rey Mysterio mask for a tout during his debate with Big Show. They could still salvage Sheamus if they let him really look good in beating Big Show and then have HHH ask him to be the guy to take down Brock Lesnar.
  21. What if Aces and 8s is just TNA's version of the Anonymous General Manager?
  22. I actually thought the Brian Maddox thing is one of the rare times that WWE has been able to play off something current and not have it be some kind of embarrassing spectacle like the Donald Trump vs Rosie O'Donnel debacle. Although "here in all her lesbionic fury" was an amusing line.
  23. I like Matt Hardy when he's not totally fucked up, so if he's getting his shit together this might be the first thing to make me interested in RoH in YEARS.
