  1. Thanks for posting that tomk, that was a really good segment. Never seen a Jody Hamilton promo before, he's GOOD.
  2. Is the argument supposed to be worldwide or just in Canada?
  3. Jim Breaks is my favorite WoS guy, I've never seen a Breaks match that wasn't entertaining.
  4. I do plan on checking out Will's Butch Reed comp at some point to get a better opinion on this. And The Rock should also be counted so perhaps it is between he and Aja. I haven't seen enough early Rocky Johnson but what I have seen is quite good, especially some matches I saw of him under a mask as Sweet Ebony Diamond. And Scorpio is awesome The Butch Reed comp is a real eye opener, even beyond the coming out party that was the Mid-South set. I would be fine with calling Butch Reed the best black wrestler ever.
  5. WM2000 is not really a WM moment in the sense that the match wasn't memorable at all. That was the year of no singles matches, everyone was just glommed together and so nothing from that show stands out except for the triple threat ladder match. Plus the finish was flat. Vince McMahon turning on The Rock wasn't really all that shocking or interesting.
  6. I think that's just looking too hard to bitch about stuff if you really want to nitpick him saying that. You can still even buy it kayfabe-wise since Shawn Michaels put his career on the line to end the streak. He would be the only guy to ever do it. No one else gets to say they ended the streak except one guy. So in that sense, I could see where he might say that would be the biggest accomplishment of his career. I don't think there is even the slightest chance of him winning. I think this is just laying more groundwork to build how big of a match it is next year when they do Cena/Taker. Orton couldn't do it, HBK lost his career failing to do it, HHH couldn't do it. They get to build Cena as the last big challenge, possibly billing it as Taker's last Mania match.
  7. It really doesn't make sense that he still does TV recaps. Especially when he has other people do it on the site right after the shows. Seems like he would have decided it was a waste of his own time by now.
  8. I was wondering why no one had even seemed to mentioned II yet when talking about guys to go in this year in Atlanta. I doubt we'll see it now if they're already putting in Bob, Road Warriors and maybe Abby but it would have been nice to see II in the HOF.
  9. That promo always made me want to see what Lawler in the Attitude era could have been like as a wrestler instead of an announcer.
  10. I'm not really sure he does understand the limitations though. Not when looking at DG USA coupled with the whole EVOLVE thing which was supposed to be super serious wrestling based off win/loss records.
  11. Someone just posted a ton of old Observer scans and I decided to make a thread for cool things found, instead of doing full write-ups on each issue. I haven't looked at much yet, but it's scans of some of 84 and what looks like all of 85-91. One of the interesting things I've read so far: - "The new bookers I'm told will be Vince himself, and even worse, Hulk Hogan and Tito Santana." July, 7th 1986. I'm not sure what was going on here, but I don't think Tito ever booked, and doubt Hogan booked a lot outside of maybe his own stuff.
  12. Very true. I suspect people are going to love Jim Breaks even if they don't care for WoS (which is hard for me to fathom really, but I guarantee you there will be plenty of people who don't "get it.") And Breaks is really the tip of the iceburg. I can understand people having a hard time getting into WoS. I've liked some of it that I've gotten from PWT, but mostly it was guys with a lot of schtick like Jim Breaks or Catweazle.
  13. I don't want to step on Loss' toes, but I might give that a shot Would it be ok for someone to start like a catch-all thread for things found in that PWT pack? I've had a couple interesting things I wanted to post about, but not do whole write-ups of issues. One is an issue right after George Scott is removed as the booker that says the new booking team would be Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan and Tito Santana. There's no way Tito was ever a booker right? I've never heard anything about it in his shoots or anyone else's. It was the July 7, 1986 issue.
  14. Yea Hennig being ranked one spot above John Cena is really baffling.
  15. Yea I remember watching some Nitros from 97 when I had WWE 24/7 and Alex Wright would sometimes get the most heel heat out of anyone except Hogan. I kind of thought he was a big missed opportunity as a TV champ or something different in the cruiserweight division.
  16. That UT/Kane finish was pretty stupid, they definitely did not need the big light show when Taker was about to do the Tombstone like it was a fatality or something. If the story turns out to be that Paul Bearer stole Undertaker's powers back into the urn then at least it takes the story somewhat interesting.
  17. I think Gabe is just looking for anything to blame to avoid facing up to the fact that the concept behind EVOLVE just doesn't have the audience he thought it did.
  18. There is no bias against guys who do a bunch of moves. There is a bias against guys who do a bunch of moves and don't build to them or sell them so they don't mean anything. But that same guy would also get criticized if he only did a FEW moves but never built to them or sold them.
  19. I guess that's my problem, all the good stuff seems to be on SuperStars that while I DVR it I don't always watch it. It just gets frustrating to watch guys you know WWE will never get behind, so I guess it's a defense mechanism to not want to start getting into a guy who could be endeavored at any time. And that is the problem we all have with the people who come along and go "oh those guys are pimping Chris Masters? Must just be trolling or trying to be ironic" Seems like damn near every person who has had something negative to say about people praising Masters haven't even seen any of his work this year, yet are such experts that they know we MUST just be trolling when we talk about how good his matches have been.
  20. Honestly, when you've had a singles match with Caylen Croft, who is pretty much like the lowest of the low on the WWE totem pole and you actually make him look credible, you're fucking good. To me that match is not really near the best matches he's had on TV this year, but is a clear cut example of how good he is because I'm not sure how many other people on the Smackdown roster who would have had that match and actually put any effort into making Croft look good instead of just half assing it until it was time to job.
  21. Wow, everyone's so ANGRY now. And yeah, if you actually read any posts on wresting I've ever made you know I'm the last guy to make the "hoss's must suck" argument. Let me turn the tables, what exactly is all this excellent Chris Masters work I'm apparently not seeing? When has he been interesting in the least since the end of the intial "the Masterlock is unbreakable" push? It's called Superstars. Watch it. For a specific example I think his high point this year was vs. Drew Mac on 8/26.
  22. No, you aren't getting shit on because you disagree about Masters, you are getting shit on because you're such a fucking asshole that you think "well people must be posting ironically about Masters because it's absolutely impossible that anyone could like him! I mean he's just a big jacked up muscle guy and that goes against internet rule #1 that if a wrestler qualifies as a 'hoss' then they must suck"
  23. Yea I think you're pretty far off with a lot of this. Having been to one of those "shitty indy feds in VA" recently I can see how someone would really get into a Sean Denny or a Scotty Blaze. Because when you're watching indies those guys really stand out as good because most of the rest of the guys are really shitty. Plus, Masters really is that good.
  24. Ok, PM me our talking points because I don't know who that is.
  25. Dylan I think it's time to come clean and just admit we had a secret ballot nominating Chris Masters as the "wrestler du jour"
