Whatever the date of WrestleMania 32 is. So that's about 5 1/2 - 6 months from now.
-
Yes, the tag team ballot is a Top 25.
-
Compromise and do one ballot with him at #50

Fair for Flair: a mini-series
goc replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in GWE Podcasts and Publications
I'm fairly certain those car dealership parking lot matches did not make tape or I would imagine it would have made the rounds here at least once just for the novelty factor. Haven't really seen anything from Flair in Southeastern/Continental except the finish to a Ron Fuller match where Bob Armstrong turned heel and the first few minutes of a Wendell Cooley match that aired on Continental TV. (Which I think may have actually been his last or one of the last 3-4 matches he did as traveling World Champ) -

EDIT: Forgive me for I have sinned -
Let the new writer pick which one he wants. And when it comes to Puerto Rico, I'm sure Boricua would be willing to help a new writer out as an assistant.
-
Well since someone brought up Memphis music videos...this is my favorite one and this isn't one that ever really gets talked about:
-
I'll be doing a tag team ballot for sure. A top 25 feels way more manageable whereas a top 100 feels like work to me.
-
This is pretty much what I'm arguing with Vancouver & Puerto Rico. Just treat them as dummy promotions and leave them alone until the original writer starts posting shows or a new one comes in.
-
Agreed. I'm not arguing that the 24/7 appealed to a wider fanbase than The Network but simply that The Network appeals less to the hardcore fan of older wrestling. I mean who is big on the 80s that hasn't already seen all the old WWF/NWA PPVs? Or the Clashes? Even if you only get an extra thousand or so subscribers by committing to upload an old territory, isn't it a good idea to appeal to as many people as possible? Every 1,000 subscribers is about an extra $10,000 of revenue. Is it really THAT expensive to do subtitles for closed captioning?
-
The other side of closing out those promotions is that it makes it that much harder for a new writer to come in. If we do a dispersal draft on IWF, Stampede, Puerto Rico & Vancouver All Star then how the heck do we fit in a new writer if one wants to come in a month from now? As it stands you can at least make deals with the latter 3 groups even if they're not posting shows. Who is really going to want to come in and start an 'expansion' territory with a bunch of scrubs? Leaving the inactive promotions there gives you 2 possibilities of more active territories. That either the original owner gets caught up and gets more active or that you get a new writer come in who would want to take it over and THEN you could push out the guy who is behind.
-
We have at least 10 active promotions right now. If you kick out Wahoo & El Boricua the number doesn't suddenly go up. Boricua has been around the whole time making deals, what is the point of pushing him out? Wahoos Leg says he wants to get caught up so what is it hurting to give him the chance to do so? Flyin' Brian disappeared and hasn't been on the board in over a month, I didn't argue that HE should be allowed to stay in. If someone says they are in, they should stay in until they decide they're out barring a total disappearance. Wahoo still participates in drafts and answers PMs
-
We already have a lot of active promotions with AWA, Southeastern, Southwest, Montreal, JCP, Mid-South, WWA & WCCW. We got 3 new writers in, 2 of which have already written their first shows so you could add Florida and Memphis to the list. That's 10, possibly up to 11 active promotions. If we wind up with new writers coming in then I could see an argument for pushing someone out to give them a place to write but we're not in that situation yet.
-
No but kicking people out is more likely to cause more problems than it solves so I really don't see the point to it.
-
I don't really care about cities or rosters and I don't know why other people are worried about any cities or rosters other than their own. People being inactive isn't that big of a deal, the more promotions who drop out the more everyone's rosters get bloated and it will still lead to a bunch of wrestlers not doing anything. The existing promotions getting bigger and bigger is probably going to contribute as much to making people feel overwhelmed and want to quit more than leaving the inactive ones alone. What are you really going to do with a roster of like 40+ people?
-
There is no war kevin. Boon went AWA just because he thought it would be a fun shake up. No one is thinking about it as an AWA vs. NWA war at least not on the AWA side. I'm definitely not trying to "win" anything I just want to write my shows. I never did understand the whole "expansion" desires because the whole thing was set up as a territory project not a "take over the world" project. Territory wrestling was the best wrestling so I don't understand the desire to "go national" in this project. I've been having my guys focus on winning AWA World Tag Team Title shots more than an AWA World Title shot though just because my promotion is tag team focused.

Bad news guys, it looks like we might not be getting a new upload today judging by Bruce Tharpe's latest tweet :
-
I liked 24/7 a lot more than the Network honestly. I don't care if the Network has more content or gives me the PPVs for 10 bucks. At least on 24/7 you would get cool stuff like the Roundtables which as far as I'm concerned is better than any original content they've come up with for The Network. Plus you had a steady, reliable stream of new content that included *gasp* the dreaded territory footage that no one cares about. They were putting up a lot of different shows in chronological order so you could follow along with like 3-4 old shows a month. I remember 81-82 Mid Atlantic, 85 Saturday Night, 1983 World Class, and ECW TV specifically. Plus they were always putting up old MSG or Boston Garden shows. And the Monday Night Wars show that they have probably only just now gotten caught up to where Raw & Nitro were on 24/7 with the Network. The only advantage that the Network has over 24/7 is that when following along with the old Raws & Nitros they would rarely ever (although they did a few times) put up the PPVs that Raw or Nitro were building to.
-
I'd much rather leave open the possibility that the people who are behind can get caught up and become more active than just shut them down and contract the number of promotions even further. I don't see what that solves. If we had a bunch of new writers waiting to come in that would be a different situation. But we don't. We've already seen Jesse fall behind twice and get caught back up twice. Wouldn't it have been bad for the project if we'd have just kicked him out and not given him the chance?
-
If you're bothered by having too many drafts then why are we trying to actively force people out and create more? If someone says they're in then leave them alone and don't worry about them. You can't just say "well this person is active and says they're in it for the long haul so we don't have to worry about them" because no one screamed louder they were in until the very end than JVK and Grimmas and they are both gone.
-
Grimmas leaving doesn't have anything to do with certain people being inactive. How is forcing 2 people out of the game who are behind going to fix that someone else in the future might drop out?
-
Yes it would be ideal if everyone had the same level of activity but that's not going to happen and forcing people out who are behind (especially if they are still active in doing deals) doesn't solve anything it just makes the problem of not having enough promotions even worse.
-
You can't blame that on Wahoo or El Boricua. How many active promotions sent him stuff for his Sunday show that was supposed an NWA showcase? How many active promotions have sent anything to JHawk? Don't try and act like it's all the inactive promotions fault. I've already figured out the next 3 things I plan on sending for the "This week in the AWA" and I suspect rainmaker has also so that showcase show is going to be fine.
-
If you are quitting because you can't use everyone ELSE'S talent then YOU'RE the problem not the person who isn't answering your PMs. So he couldn't get guys from All Star? Big deal. He never asked me for anyone, how do I know how many other people he didn't ask.
-
So with one promotion currently open and at least one more that will be opening up soon I thought I might as well make a new topic to call for anyone who is looking to join the 1983 project(since a new topic gets put on the main page and attracts more attention) If you've just been lurking and aren't signed up to the board, don't feel like that excludes you. All 3 new writers who have come in have had 0 posts outside of the fantasy project so it's not like you won't be welcomed in. If you have an issue getting validated then try and hang around somewhere in the 1983 folder on your non-validated account instead of staying as a guest and I'll eventually see you in yellow and try and get someone to validate you the way I did with Super Stan. If you think it would be fun but "too much work" just realize it's only as much work as you make it. It's really just a fun booking/shared creative writing project not a contest to take over the wrestling world. You only have to really post your weekly TV episode and that can be as much (my overly long and verbose TV in Southwest) or as little (All-Star's short and to the point TV) as you want it to be. If you don't want to write out whole promos, that's cool only about 2-3 people are writing out full promos instead of just giving a summary of what was said. If you don't want to write out full matches you don't have to do that either you can just list the result. The last thing I would tell any new writer to do is look at my Southwest thread and try to write as much as I'm writing. A list of all the promotions currently in the game can be seen here: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/31239-every-promotions-roster-in-one-thread/ A list of Free Agents can be seen here: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/31871-free-agency-wire/ And the current list of freelancers (wrestlers who are shared between everyone when they're not on Japan tours) includes: Bruiser Brody, Abdullah the Butcher, Mil Mascaras, Stan Hansen and The Original Sheik
