I will admit there is a lot of scrubbish on my roster but Apollo actually doesn't fit the category despite probably only Boricua and I being aware of his existence before this project. He was brought along slowly in Florida for pretty much all of 1981 having fairly competitive matches with guys above him on the pecking order. Then he had a short TV Title run and feuded with Don Muraco that I think led to a hair match or at least Don Muraco cutting some of Apollo's hair. Then before leaving he got up to semi-main or 3rd from the top in his biggest feud in Florida with Cyclon Negro where the established star Negro turned on him in a tag match on TV (which I've posted at least twice somewhere around the board, I really dug that angle)
Then he went back to Puerto Rico and seemingly was a pretty big deal there as Boricua just recently posted these in the Puerto Rico mega thread that show him working semi-main under Carlos Colon and seems like he also worked some main events on non-Carlos shows. Then he just kind of quit wrestling and disappeared for reasons no one seems to really know.
This end's today's pointless El Gran Apollo history lesson
This is not a denial of the fact there are many scrubs on my roster, Bruiser Costa, Terry Adonis, Tiny Anderson, Tony Torres, and a few others probably fit that bill nicely and are being used above the level of total jobber here. But that was fairly true to life for how the lower tier promotions like Southwest, Portland and Vancouver had to operate and I've been trying to emulate real life Southwest in operation if not so much in style of booking.
*This is not an angry response to the word scrubs, more of a chance to lay out the reasons why El Gran Apollo has been getting a big push and to explain more of the philosophy behind why guys who would most likely be jobbers on any other roster get pushed above that level here.
