I'm not on the list of keepers. Wahoos Leg - All Star Wrestling - Honkytonk Man
-
Fine with me.
-
I prefer just offering the freelancers up in general as part of the draft rather than them rotate from place to place each month. Especially if that month coincides with a big Japanese tour where they'd be unavailable to begin with.
-
How do we feel about Andy Kaufman being available as a non-wrestler personality?
-
I'll take Honkytonk Man.
-
Do I just make my save pick in this thread?
-
I'm in if there's still room
-
I'd be interested in contributing to this if there's room

any good joshi channels?

I resolved to watch wrestling every day this year. I made it two whole days...

The Maddy G TV channel has AAW shows.

I use Safari and tried Google translate and most of the text is still showing up in Japanese. Would I have better luck in Chrome? -

[2000-04-15-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Kenta Kobashi vs Takao Omori
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in April 2000
Great atmosphere. Omori is the Cinderella and the crowd chanting his name while in the ab stretch. Really good stuff here. Loved Omori's sequence of shittiness as he attacked Kobashi's knee. Dumping him on the table on ringside was also most enjoyable. Omori hitting the two Axe Bombers, which is how he got this far, and Kobashi kicking out was a great near fall. It seems like a foregone conclusion Kobashi is going to end the underdog run, but Omori gets a ton in and it makes for really compelling viewing. It's 25 minutes long bell to bell and it flew by. -
Not working on the laptop either

I have a Roku 2 and none of the on demand streams currently working for me. Anyone else having issues?

[2000-03-31-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in March 2000
Both guys pulling out all the stops early, which made sense and emphasizes the importance of the tournament. A little too strikey-strikey for my tastes, but I can see it making the bottom quarter of my bracket. Preferred the Kobashi-Kawada match to this, reinforcing my belief I'm going to throw off the numbers (if I ever finish a ballot). Kawada's awesome sell of the roaring elbow is a real highlight.- 13 replies

[2000-02-27-AJPW-Excite Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Jun Akiyama
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in February 2000
Everything that's awesome about this style encompassed in about 25 minutes. Great opening sequence capped by the Misawa dropkick and dive. Misawa eats shit HARD on the guardrail looking for another dive, and opens up Aki to just start destroying him. Loved the struggle on the apron before the exploder suplex, and the reactions of the crowd both during it and in the aftermath. Lots of holds on the mat by Akiyama in the middle portion but it makes sense after what's been done to his neck. I love how the holds look. Everything seems super snug and is sold appropriately. Finishing sequence is required viewing. GREAT false finish after the running knee and third exploder. Akiyama comes out of this looking like a huge star. My working number one.- 34 replies

[2000-02-22-BJW-Exite Series] Ryuji Yamakawa vs Kintaro Kanemura
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in February 2000
Crowd's hot for the entrances and loves Kanemura's dancing schtick. My first time seeing either guy. I liked Kanemura quite a bit. He's a good dickbag heel and moves well for a big guy. He also does most of the heavy lifting as Yamakawa spends the majority of the match getting his ass kicked. Would have liked to see him go back to the arm more other than the one spot where he ineffectually tried to block the press slam from the top rope down to the floor. Some good spots but a lot of this ran together. A fun watch but it won't make the cut.- 12 replies

[2000-02-13-GAEA-Big Destruction] Aja Kong vs KAORU
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in February 2000
Wow, I had a totally different take. This was definitely not perfect but really engaging. Once KAORU blocks that first back fist with the table and we go to some hand and arm work, it really grabbed my attention. Kong sold it like she was getting murdered and her arm's all fucked up and bloody by the end. Seeing some actual limb targeting in what seemed like the same type of hardcore match we've all seen a thousand times made this stand out for me.- 20 replies

[2000-01-30-BattlARTS] Naoki Sano vs Minoru Tanaka
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
Probably a mistake to read some of the comments here before I watched this match, but I entered with decidedly low expectations and was still underwhelmed. Felt like a sparring session. No way this makes the ballot.- 14 replies

[2000-01-17-AJPW-New Year's Giant Series] Toshiaki Kawada vs Kenta Kobashi
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
Aside from lucha as a whole, Kawada is probably the biggest gap in my wrestling viewing history. I've never seen a head to head match between these two so I really enjoyed this and imagine it will rank much higher for me than it will the average voter. I do wish Kobashi had sold the cross armbreaker better, but this was my favorite match so far.- 15 replies

[2000-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 2000] Genichiro Tenryu vs Kensuke Sasaki
Wahoos Leg replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
Had that “big fight” feel. Like watching two mirror images go at it, both guys throwing the same stuff at the other in a battle of one-upsmanship. Sasaki's punches are gross. Tenryu sells them great and comes off as the unflappable if a bit punch drunk wiley veteran of the match. The Frankensteiner bait and switch was good stuff. I'm not an advocate of the length equals quality ethos but this one still felt a bit short, although the super physical nature of the match explains why it's not particularly lengthy. I can't imagine 200 some matches better than this, so it'll probably make the ballot, but I preferred the Hashimoto tag.- 31 replies

The atmosphere around this is top-notch. Great heat and crowd reactions from the outset. It's a little hard to follow what's going on as far as the rules, but the intensity and the violence can't be denied. Some great heeling by Murakami early, and Iizuka comes out with the duke after getting illegally KO'd at the first. If you watch a lot of MMA, you can tell this is worked, but it's still great theater and highly entertaining. It made me want to seek out more of the Hashimoto-Ogawa feud. Hard to imagine this won't be in my top half, at minimum.
