We're something like 5 years into this thing and they're still trying to get him over the hump. We can say he is the ace going forward but we could be in the exact same situation next Mania with everyone saying "this time is for real."

Has wrestling gone overboard with the various streaming services?

DDT's service is rough as well. -
How do you feel WWE would have gone if Steamboat had stayed in WWE in 91 and they did a match there? I don't know if it would have ever made TV or would have been a squash to set up Flair and Savage'a feud.

Stardom is cheap and a great product. They also chop up the shows so you can skip the student and rookie matches if you want. They also subtitle promos. -
Between the Sheets #130 (January 10-16, 1993)

I finally am able to listen to podcasts at work again and this was the first show I added back to my list. -

WWE, NJPW and Stardom are my constants. I signed up for RoH's thing this month but kind of have no idea what that's actually giving me so that might be short lived. -
I think that's a little unfair. Pre-Attitude era he did give divisions a legit shot. Madusa left with the belt when they were treating it seriously and it kind of fizzled out in the late 1980s. But he was never afraid to let good workers go out there and put on a show with some time.

The NFL let a QB back on the field when he was coughing up blood and had a seizure on the field. They routinely look the other way for domestic violence despite making a big deal of having a policy in place for it.
-
They're doing better than the NFL on both counts.

You are actually right on a lot of those points in regards to Delirious. But they did have to hire someone for talent relations because he was so bad at it, see the Keith Lee situation. He isn't a good booker but he knows how to navigate Sinclair and puts up with their general ineptitude. There are more qualified people but I don't think it's a situation they would last in.

Styles is that rare guy that lost a step and actually got better. He's spent the last 5 years succeeding in every environment he's been put into. My biggest difference between them is if Styles is in a bad match, I think it speaks to the abilities of his opponent where DB isn't quite to that level in my head.

Not to mention they had to pretty much be shamed into spending money to upgrade production for ROH. The first few months of Sinclair-owned ROH TV were embarrassingly low rent looking. Wasn't it a solid year or two before they upgraded the production?
-
That's a bit much. I mean really who can know what the goings on are in putting together this card that might of led it to come out this way. Being the booker is a pretty thankless job most of the time so why dump on the guy and pretend absolutely anyone could've done a better job? Because that's his whole run as booker. Taking talent you are interested in and making sure they don't interact in any sort of interesting way. I would be less frustrated with the card if Delirious hasn't spent years putting out mediocre shows.
-
I see him as strictly a mid-carder. Ibushi is a world class talent and if you're going to bother bringing him in then he should be matched up against a good talent.
-
I feel like I could have given a monkey a pack of cigarettes and the names on this show and it would have come up with a better card.
-
Yeah but they're wasting Castle on Scurll. Delirious is such a shitty booker.
-
They only view RoH as cheap programming and that's been confirmed through multiple stories over the years. I doubt this would do anything other than cost some wrestlers a pay check.
-
Wasn't there a whole blowup because they wanted Goldberg to stop using the Jackhammer and he told them to go fuck themselves around the Rumble as well?
-
Man, they fucked wasted Ibushi on Adam Page? I would have killed to see Ibushi vs. Taylor.
-
When did the private jet happen? I think the beginning of the end for Lesnar, even at the time I think it was said, was they made him fly all the way to South Africa for some nothing match with Bob Holly.

Tully Blanchard is coming in the next LOW expansion!

The matches are so good but dear god is the Flair/Steamboat feud in 1989 dull outside of the matches.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Mad Dog replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Scott D'Amore really doesn't get the credit he deserves for his first run with TNA. His run had it's issues but the promotion was putting out good to great weekly TV and built some real momentum as a product.
