I think where Cornette comes across as super dishonest with Omega is he never gives him credit for anything. We all have workers that we detest that we will readily admit were in something good or were good in something.

Yeah, you needed that big tentpole property and the only guy that fit the bill was Hulk Hogan. Hogan was that big summer blockbuster film that everyone was going to go see. He was selfish but I think a good top guy needs to be a little selfish. I think a lot of people have legit beefs with Hogan but Piper I would argue doesn't. Hogan should never in any world have jobbed to Piper or anyone in 1985. How about Nick Bockwinkel. He seems like a complete company man that dropped the belt when asked and would work with young talent to make them look good. His match with a rookie Magnum TA is proof of that. Also guys like Nagata, Kojima and Tenzan that seem to have accepted lower card placement and work with the young lions.

The Kane thing was so lame. They bring him back for everything. They have to be away for you to actually miss them.

Speaking of Gerber and the Defenders. Has anyone ever resolved the Elf with a gun?
-
Yeah. Steamboat was bad even by the standards of the time to the point people protested it and they retired him by 1945.

WWE TV 01/25 - 01/31 What's the pro wrestling equivalent of Mahomes vs Brady?
Mad Dog replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
The contrast between that and the Jessicka Havok double choke slam at Hard To Kill is amazing. Havok was super careful to get it right and not hurt Hogan and Steelz and here Nia fucks up and then makes sure she lands on her head. -
My concern would be they dumb it back down so they can have "releases" for the service.

So how long for Peacock to get all of the old content back up. 5 years?
-
See. I didn't feel he was really complaining as much as saying it was different and was just nostalgic for his younger days. I thought he was much harsher when talking about the actual modern product later.
-
Also to show how dumb it is. Right now I can get Doc Savage and Shadow reprints no issue and in more than one format. That is far less in demand than Captain Marvel would be.

DC has been especially terrible with their trade policies for a long time. Marvel smokes them in this regard with those Epic reprints that have like every appearance the character made in order and aren't obscenely expensive. Marvel has also done a far better job of even just having their Golden Age stuff on their app. I was really pissed off when I wanted to read some Captain Marvel and there is zero Golden Age stuff available on the DC app.
-
The Captain Marvel stuff is especially upsetting on the reprint front when The EC horror and sci fi books have gotten pretty comprehensive reprints in affordable form. If those can get that sort of treatment I don't see why Captain Marvel can't.

It's a talent issue with the early years. If you go get a collection of the Spirit by Will Eisner it's totally fine. Art is good and it reads well but it's a newspaper strip. All of the good writing and artistic talent were on newspaper strips or writing pulp novels. Comics were getting guys that weren't good enough for the big time or needed development. You obviously had some exceptions to that rule but early original content comics were done by third rate talent of the time. I think probably by the mid 40s, they were selling well enough and there was enough money in it to start attracting some bigger names but I also think those bigger names were going to EC instead of superhero stuff.

I seem to have gotten almost everything from the Golden Age at this point. The original ashcsn doesn't seem to exist in its original form online. A lot of it is in pretty rough shape and hard to read like a lot of Golden Age books that have been scanned. It's really well written compared to a lot of other Golden Age stuff I have read. Batman is just outright terrible but stuff like Green Lantern was pretty decent. I can see why Cap became so popular.
-
A lot of it is public domain but I think they own the rights to the stuff that isn't.

Taker said it was kind of dumb and he had to go two days in a row once. But he said he wasn't exempt from it. I also think Joe doesn't take it seriously because UFC's testing is kind of a punchline.

Best live show I ever attended was a Chikara show.
-
Also I have been listening to a spotlight of Captain Marvel in the Golden Age. The DC lawsuit was total bullshit. He's nothing like Superman past a couple of superficial differences.

Cesaro vs. Neville from NXT Briscoes vs. War Machine War Machine vs. Daniels/Kazarian in a street fight Dalton Castle vs. Kamaitachi Worst match I ever saw live was either a Booker T vs Hardcore Holly match that wouldn't end or an Elgin/Dijak match during an RoH show that made me question my life choices.

Watched the Undertaker appearance on Rogan. It's weird seeing him just talk like a normal person.

Probably more like the Warriors beating the Mavs in round one in the 2000s.
-
At least a Monster Society of Evil reprint.

I downloaded all of the Golden Age Captain Marvel books I could find, there's a lot. I am looking forward to digging into those between reading Silver Age Doctor Strange.
