Bringing him into the mainstream DCU is one of the worst things they ever did. I fucking hate the sanitized John we get now. I think Milligan's run is pretty good too.
-
I know McAdams has several tapes worth of Ft. Worth footage but I am not sure of the years.
-
Cornette has talked about the loop several times but it sounded like they ran split crews and might do two shows a day on the weekends.

I think Tim Storm could give someone a really good six month run. His story would play really well on a larger stage and he has a lot of charisma.

The original MLW is a weird blindspot because I had satellite at the time and somehow didn't get any network they were on. -

To continue with NWA Wildside. They had TV since 1999 and sold VHS of those. They produced a number of stars and in that dead period had AJ Styles, Jimmy Rave and Abyss who are super notable. And if you knew indy names at the time, most of them were doing stints there. So you had guys like Onyx, Jason Cross, Lazz, Caprice Coleman, Silky Boom Boom and Todd Sexton. -
I wouldn't be shocked either. It was an uphill battle before COVID and then you suffer two PR blackeyes before even being a year in. I could see throwing in the towel.

I think NWA Wildside had a lot of tapes out there in that gap period as well. ECWA was also big in that era as the Super 8 always got a lot of hype. -
I couldn't remember exactly because I think he wad contributing ideas before he was writing ot full time. I know he came up with Karate Kid when he was 14.
-
Yeah. I think Shooter was like 16-18 years old when he was doing a lot of these. I think a lot of those Shooter era Legion comics hold up really well.
-
On the reading front, I have been reading a lot of Jim Shooter era Legion of Super-Heroes. The Legion is one of my favorite DC groups.
-
I think my favorite Hickman work has been East of West. Also, on the manga front, you can subscribe to Shonen Jump for $1.99 a month and get access to some extensive archives. The entire Dragon Ball series is on there and I think all of One Piece is.

I give it an 85% chance we never see the Evolve archive on the Network minus some matches for NXT talent.

Yeah, to me, it feels a lot like when your boss at work gets this big bug up their ass that everyone on the team should be able to do everything. That's nice in theory until you start doing it and you have someone who is excellent at one task doing a task they are mediocre at. Yeah, you're getting by but you could be doing better. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses and being able to constructively self reflect on yourself is a really underrated and underappreciated talent.

It was a Savage thing. I think Steamboat got the same amount of notes and Savage at one point wanted to fly Steamboat somewhere so they could practice.
-
Funny side note to this. I was listening to a part of some Sherri Martel shoot and she said that Randy Savage had given Ultimate Warrior something like 29 pages of notes for their Wrestlemania VII match.
-
I highly recommend his Grand Championship Final against Mike Quackenbush from High Noon. It's one of the best indy matches of this decade and pulls off a big championship atmosphere for the match.
-
Just to add. I believe he owns the copyright to Jervis Cottonbelly and hasn't really prevented the use of it elsewhere. The only time he stepped in and did stuff was when Kaiju were trying to say they had rights to the gimmick.
-
Mike owns the copyright to all of the gimmicks. When Filsinger Games was doing Chikara cards any character in the history of the promotion was open to them because of this. Now if they all just use their gimmicks I doubt Mike can go after all of them.

I was telling @The Thread Killer that I don't remember where I got the impression but I was under the impression that she was a little off. I think it's possible she wasn't take the breakup well and gave the impression he would cause issues.

I just wanted to add as well. Human beings are terrible at accurately remembering things. When you get into criminal cases, eye witnesses testimony can be terrible evidence because we don't remember events or timelines well. People wanting to pick things apart need to realize events will get jumbled the further out you go.

It doesn't necessarily have to be "boys will boys" thing. There are a lot of facets to human psychology. Some of it might be "oh wow, that was kind of fucked but I must be wrong because the person I know wouldn't do that." I also think we have to account for external pressures. You are preparing for your match and have some stage fright and don't notice because your head is somewhere else. Or maybe a lot of guys just do the rounds of hellos and go hang with one or two friends or play video games in a corner. I think it would be super easy to miss or just catch a side glimpse of something and write it off as you were mistaken.

There are people saying Cornette did do an angle with Ashcroft in OVW around that time frame. I haven't followed the promotion in years so I don't know on that front. That story seems plausible as I imagine they don't always ask questions of what the other is up to on the side.
