Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
Mad Dog replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I feel like Charlotte as a heel with this push would feel about right. The problem with her is she's been a face for most of her run and she's just a terrible face. The answer is Baron Corbin. -
Honestly, they are probably going to be lucky to even find his way.

That is a big question I think the comic book industry is facing down to. When people have been broken of the habit and ritual of watching Raw or going to the shop for books how many are going to stop and realize they made better use of the time and money and not come back. I think that's a real risk for WWE and comic books. I could see AEW and to a lesser extent NXT recovering because Wednesday Night seems like only the hardcores tune in for.
-
Yeah. I can't do it without the crowd. You just need that visceral energy of the crowd to make it all work.
-
It hasn't been drawing and AEW has totally owned them in the ratings. I think there are a lot of reasons Vince would lose faith in him.
-
This. If he feels they can't run it successfully then selling and stipulating jobs for them in the sale or cashing out so they are set for life are options he would consider I think.
-
Yeah. Wrestling is just more honest about what it is than Hollywood is.
-
I would argue that WWE are saints in comparison.
-
They have let some absolutely terrible mergers go through over the last couple of decades so I doubt it would be stopped.
-
Disney doesn't give a fuck honestly.
-
To Disney?

Yeah, I really liked Dolph at one point but he seemed to give up after they did zero with him after that Survivor Series match. I think he realizes he was getting pushed and paid the same regardless of what he did after that.
-
He's also a bad main event face. Remember they tried pairing him up with Becky and stopped because she was actually losing overness from being associated with him. He got over by having fun sprints for the IC Title. I think that is a niche he is well suited for. It's when you need him to do that top card stuff that his lack of versatility in the ring starts to become an issue.
-
I think the difference is other promotions don't have the endless amount of TV time to give segments like that though.
-
I think he's kind of in that Braun spot of they fucked him over at a couple of key points. The Fiend was dumb from the start. People got way too excited for that and it would have been fine as a special attraction for PPVs but they made him a central character which it wasn't suited for.
-
Bray Wyatt as well. I don't think he would have found himself if not for WWE.
-
Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Charlotte are easy ones. I think guys like R-Truth benefit from the niche they have and getting a big paycheck to not get beat up. I would also argue super limited talent like Elias benefit from being there. I don't think the list is long but I do think they are the best place for people and NXT did polish some guys up really well.
-
People are in that phase still where NXT gets praise because it's NXT. It's kind of like how people still praised ECW after it got bad because it's ECW. I think people are slowly starting to go "hey wait a minute, NXT hasn't been particularly good in awhile. Why are the same three guys on top constantly."
-
Remember he really didn't age for a long time and then he tore his quads and he got old looking almost overnight.
-
There are legit cases where it happened but it buys you time and instantly buys you a crowd of defenders.
-
Pro wrestling and underaged is a timeless tale it seems.
-
Kairi really deserves better than being forced to work with morons like Nia and Charlotte.
-
Also can we talk about the buckle bomb? I think I would rather someone give me a piledriver than take a buckle bomb.
-
Maybe Nia should take better care of her opponents after mouthing off about Ronda not being safe.

Wrestling At The Chase March/April TV Report: Notable Matches: Missouri Heavyweight Champion Macho Man Randy Savage defeated Ricky Gibson NWA North American Tag Team Title Match: Fabulous Ones (c) defeated Lance and Mike Von Erich by DQ Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. One Man Gang - Double DQ The Angles: Bobo Brazil and "Macho Man" Randy Savage got into an altercation on the first episode. Bobo Brazil came out for guest commentary and Savage got into his face after coming out and defeating Pat Rose in a match. Bobo tried to brush Savage off but he wasn't having any of it. Bobo finally had enough an decked Savage. The next week Bobo came out and said that he was just here to do Sam Muchnick a favor and present the title and do some work on commentary. Brazil states that he doesn't understand what Savage's problem is. Savage retorted the next week stating that he is the greatest of all time. That the Missouri Heavyweight Title is reserved for the best of the best. He wants Bobo Brazil to recognize when he is in the presence of greatness and show the proper respect. Brazil came out during this interview and told Savage that they should settle it in the ring. Savage agreed. The next week Savage attacked Bobo Brazil after he defeated Lord Humongous in a match. Savage nailed Brazil in the head with the title belt and then hit the elbow drop off of the top rope. Terry Funk was on a total tear during the month. On the debut episode he attacked and hog tied NWA World Heavyweight Champion Magnum TA. The next week he went on an incoherent rant about how much he hated Magnum TA and he didn't even care about the title. Funk then proceeded to beat George South in a match and then hit the Piledriver repeatedly until Magnum TA ran in for the save. The next week Magnum TA talked about how he's defended the belt all over the World and he hasn't seen anyone as unhinged as Terry Funk has been. The next week saw both men get into a pull apart brawl after Terry Funk again won a match against Mike Von Erich and then went to Piledrive him a couple of extra times. During the week 3 main event with Hacksaw Jim Duggan and One Man Gang, they spilled to the outside and continued to brawl which drew a Double DQ. Both men continued to brawl after the belt and Duggan finally nailed One Man Gang with the 2x4 as he chased him to the back. Duggan marched back out to the announce table and said he wanted Sam Muchnick to give him a No Holds Barred Match with One Man Gang at the next Kiel Auditorium show. Duggan said that he just wants a good old fashioned bar room brawl. Lance and Mike Von Erich returned the favor to NWA North American Tag Team Champions The Fabulous Ones. During their return match. Mike Von Erich nailed Steve Keirn with a cane which drew the DQ. The Von Erichs put the boots to the Fabs afterwards to make a point. The next week the Von Erichs stated they want everyone in the world of wrestling to know that just because they aren't Kerry or Kevin that they are not pushovers. If the Fabulous Ones want to play games then they are going to fight fire with fire. The Fabulous Ones later did an interview and were amused that the Von Erichs were willing to try and fight back. There was later a contract signing with both teams on TV and the Fabulous Ones attacked the Von Erichs and used their blood to sign the contracts.
