St. Louis signs Phil Hickerson
-
There was a run on toilet paper here over the weekend. I have no idea why.
-
I think they have another couple of weeks to let things play out there. I think the public pressure is where it's going to be bad for them because the media has really gone full blown panic mode over this. It might die down a bit if something else diverts people's attention.

Question for everyone. I want to bring Bobo Brazil in for a few months as a legend and work a few matches. He was still active in 1985 with a handful of matches. Would anyone have an issue with me signing and using him?
-
I don't believe it. They have had some form of an online streaming catalog for 7-8 years and have never had the entire back catalog or even a healthy chunk of it available.
-
No idea. Like I said, I don't know the truth behind that just that I saw that mentioned at some point. I am guessing they misplaced some of the archive in some move around the Sinclair takeover and the current management is too lazy/cheap to get the complete shows on DVD.
-
I think someone somewhere has claimed that RoH claims to have lost a lot of that footage but I have no idea if that is true or not.
-
I have a feeling it's going to bomb horribly and Becky is going to take 100% of the blame for it,
-
Their TV sucks and has sucked for a long time. The back catalog has been an issue with RoH for close to a decade now. Their most valuable asset is those first 5-6 years of shows and they refuse to do anything with it. Being honest, I tried to buy the old DVDs and after seeing the prices I just grabbed a Torrent of all the shows and didn't feel bad about it at all.

St. Louis signs Jose Lothario and Rocky Iaukea.

Live Event: 3/8/1985 live from St. Louis, MO Jay and Mark Youngblood defeated Doug Vines and Jeff Sword at 10:22 Cocoa Samoa defeated Kelly Kiniski at 4:09 Missouri Heavyweight Title Tournament Round 1: "Macho Man" Randy Savage defeated Dick The Bruiser at 5:59 Butch Reed defeated One Man Gang at 11:35 Barry Windham defeated Jimmy Garvin at 18:43 Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Tony Atlas at 13:09 Angle Developments: It's announced that the next show will feature the semi-finals and final of the Missouri Heavyweight Title Tournament. The semi-finals feature "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Butch Reed and Barry Windham vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Magnum TA was in the building. Terry Funk came out and challenged him to a match at the next show for the title. It's announced that Wrestling At The Chase will start taping in April. "Macho Man" Randy Savage tells the crowd to come back for the rest of the tournament because they're looking at the first ever Missouri Heavyweight Champion. He also tells the crowd that he's also still gunning for the NWA World Heavyweight Title.

It's the eternal treadmill. It feels like almost everything on the shows are filler, even the PPVs. It's turned into, how can we get out of providing resolution to this match or feud so we can get another month out of the same matches and promos. People also won't pay money for a show when they run half of that card as rematches for free on TV within a week.
-
I think if they were willing to cut back to say 6-8 PPVs a year and really build those shows they would see good numbers. Their current model won't work though. They just crap out a PPV show every 3 weeks currently and they have completely burned the audience out. It's the same problem RoH eventually ran into with the DVD model. When people have to start picking and choosing what they can afford you start to lose business.
-
I think it was a smart move at the time because that market was shrinking for them. The problem is they have incredibly devalued PPV since moving to the Network. The cards have gotten lazier and the booking is far worse on the shows. I think if they expect people to pay any amount of money they have to overhaul their booking practices.

I was guessing they were going to want $85 for Mania.

This week we're reaching into that bag of holding. Who are our favorite jobbers and radio personalities. What was the last video game we played? If you want to hear Matt and Brad talk about Ron and Fez this is the show for you.

Live Event: 2/23/1985 live from St. Louis, MO Ricky Gibson and Tommy Gilbert defeated Doug Vines and Jeff Sword at 10:31 Cocoa Samoa defeated George South at 4:09 Lord Humongous defeated Jesse Barr at 5:16 One Man Gang defeated "Baby Bull" Leon White at 9:38 Butch Reed defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan at 13:20 NWA World Heavyweight Title Match: Magnum TA (c) defeated "Macho Man" Randy Savage by DQ at 18:59 Angle Developments: An 8 man tournament was announced to crown the first ever Missouri Heavyweight Champion at the next show at the Kiel Auditorium. The following men were announced for the tournament: "Macho Man" Randy Savage Butch Reed Hacksaw Jim Duggan Barry Windham Tony Atlas One Man Gang Dick The Bruiser Jimmy Garvin During the World Title match, Randy Savage nailed Magnum TA with the title belt which ended up drawing the DQ. Savage went to the top rope and hit the elbow drop. He went up a second time but Barry Windham came out and stood between him and Magnum. Savage and Windham exchanged words before Savage hopped out of the ring and headed towards the back.

My understanding is that Brett is a very small part of what is actually going on. Namely, he benefited from about $50,000 of misappropriated money for rehab.

This week we dig into the vaults and look at Ricky Steamboat's return to the NWA.
-
This week we are picking a current active wrestler that we would build a promotion around.
-
This week we are reviewing two episodes of World Wrestling Council TV. Orlando Colon vs. Eli Drake and Orlando Colon vs. Texano Jr.

They run the same venue NXT does. The ring sits in a mosh pit and it's weird to watch. You can be second row and be super far away. We have better buildings to run but I think RoH just runs there because NXT does. I will check the prices but they super price gouge here.
-
They announced it so I went to check for tickets for Columbus and nothing on their website of course. They also insist on running a concert venue here which is terrible for watching wrestling.

The Jim Cornette Experience
Mad Dog replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
My only problem with the Drive Thru is it gets super redundant after about 20 episodes. -
They are going to have to pry Twitter out of Cornette's cold dead hands.
