  1. Sorry if this is similiar to the looks thread but I've been really bothered by some of the threads I've read lately at various sites. I've had to really think about a lot of the recent wrestling deaths and the answers I've seen in other people's posts and fan attitude in general were not pleasant. It made me realize that we as fans are just as responsible for every wrestling death as the companies that hire them. We just don't fucking get it. People mourn someone like Eddie's loss and ask why this happened but they never learn anything. They constantly show they haven't by the threads I listed in the first paragraph. These same people will of course mourn and ask why this happened when the next wrestler dies. We're supposed to be smart marks but why do we continue to, in our own way, condone wrestlers abusing drugs and taking steroids?
  2. Fans will never get it. After reading that Trevor Murdoch thread and then seeing today that the DVDVR guys are bitching and calling AJ Styles a pussy because he cancelled for RoH due to his busted lip. I'm starting to think the fans might really be just as big a problem with wrestler deaths.
  3. Like Eddie Guerrero was cleaned up? Just like Eddie had to take painkillers to continue wrestling with his broken down body, Chris Candido had to take painkillers in order to be able to work as a manager the day after his injury. I'm not saying that caused his death, but I think it's naive to believe that it wasn't at all possible that his heart and the rest of his body was so weakened and badly damaged by his years of steroid and painkiller abuse that it made it more likely that he would suffer a deadly blood clot after he broke his leg. You're looking way too much into Candido's death. Of course people are on pain medication when they break their leg as badly as he did. It doesn't mean that it had anything to do with a blood clot forming in his leg and then breaking loose. People who've never touched a drug in their life die constantly from surgical complications similiar to those. Trying to blame TNA for that is equally as stupid. They brought a guy in because they saw that he had cleaned his life up. It's also pointless to bash TNA over this compared to the WWF. TNA sees their talent 3 or 4 days out of the month, they aren't going to necessarily know what those people are doing the rest of the month. The WWF on the other hand has their talent 4 days a week usually and they damn well know when their guys have problems. Plus TNA at least provides health care packages to their workers.
  4. Nope, TNA hired Candido because Dusty Rhodes wanted to reward him for cleaning up.
  5. Blood clot that formed because of his broken leg.
  6. When did Keller become such a hateful little troll of a man?
  7. This is such a stupid and needless swipe at TNA. You'd think Candido had ODed on something the way he's talking here.
  8. I just read the offending thread that started this. I think my jaw almost hit the floor during that post. I think the worst part is none of them got the irony of what they were writing and the shit they posted a few weeks early. Maybe wrestling fans really are as dumb as the sterotypes.

  11. People whine about Flair now but none of them have ever been able to defend that view or who should've had the belt in his place.
  12. Even Destination X, which was by far the worst TNA PPV since they started, had several quality matches on it. It stuns me that smarks still shit all over TNA when the PPVs have so many good matches on it. Other than a few RoH shows and 1 NOAH show they've put out the best top to bottom shows this year as far as PPV goes.
  13. Even the IWGP and Triple Crowns haven't been held by a smaller wrestler.
  14. Those video packages for Rhino on Thursday completely sold me on Jarrett/Rhino. Everything else looks fun for the most part. Could be in the running for best TNA PPV this year if everyone delivers.
  15. Bobby Lashley: Don't like him. He's extremely green and it shows during his matches. He's very careless with guys and I'm surprised he hasn't hurt someone yet. Moves are pretty inconsistent. It'll look like he broke someone in half on one move and follow it up with an akward looking slam. Also not convincing at all. He can't emote intensity so he comes off like he's pretending to be intimidating. Ken Kennedy: Ok in the ring. Limited gimmick. Haven't really gotten to see much of him in the ring but failed to impress me during his match with Eddie Guerrero. I kind of like the gimmick but I doubt it has any kind of staying power. Carlito: Don't like him. Decent charisma but awful in the ring. He's never impressed me. John Cena: Lacks motivation I think. There's so much more the guy could be doing in the ring but the WWF has bred it out of him for whatever reason. I think he could still become that guy that we all saw so much potential in during his early 2002 run. Abyss: Proves himself time and time again and he still gets overlooked by smarks because he's a big guy. He's been a miracle worker all year as he's made Siaki, Sabu, Lance Hoyt and numerous others look like they were worth a damn in the ring. Definate top 10 worker as far as North America goes and I could see him being top 5 in 2006 if he gets some talent to work with.
  16. Spike's supposedly paying for part of his contract so it ranges more in the good category. Plus they could get a lot out of Abyss/Sting.
  17. Not really. Meltz has been doing that for a long time. He's one of those people who constantly bashes and then turns around and enjoys whatever he watches of theirs.
  18. It works in the opposite direction. Spike Dudley credibly went against heavyweights do to booking and ring style and then was laughable against cruiserweights.
  19. Misterio's already on steroids.
  20. Most of the people I've seen complain about that are complaining just for the sake of it. Some of the people on other boards have given lists about what they want from TNA and then complained about TNA doing what was on their list. Reading about TNA is easier to take when you realize TNA can't win with a lot of people.
  21. There needs to be common sense though. If you weigh 100 lbs. you shouldn't be showing off your girl arms and chicken legs. Wear baggy clothes and sleeves. You can fool people into thinking that you're bigger with the right clothes.
  22. You're being really generous saying the Special K guys were 150 lbs. And it's different with wrestling to a degree. When you have a 100 lb. guy doing all these springboards and all that it's not credible. I'm not super strong but I could even easily catch one of those guys doing that shit. It might not be as much of an issue if the RoH undercard guys had the talent to pull off credible matches. All I ask from my wrestlers is that I not be able to beat them up. They look like they just pulled some high school kid off the street and put them in the ring. They further make themselves worse by wearing wife beaters and jean shorts. I watch plenty of MMA and while it's similiar in ways it's not totally the same. Out striking an opponent is different from diving on a guy that should obviously be able to catch you. Also Genki Sudo and Caol Ono look a million times more credible and threatening and that's about how small you get as far as MMA fighters go.
  23. Why? He's probably on more roids than the entire roster.
  24. He's got a beer gut, big fucking deal. He's probably in better shape than most people who are at their ideal weight. I'd rather a guy walk around with some extra weight than pumping so much shit into their body that they'll be crippled or dead by 50. At least Trevor can throw a clothesline without his muscles tearing apart like Batista does.
  25. As far as looks. I said in the RoH thread that I don't buy into a lot of their undercard because they're 100 lb. kids that I could beat up. I stand by that completely. They aren't credible in any sort of way. I'm not big on looks, all I ask is that I at least couldn't beatdown whoever's in the ring. I don't want them to use steroids but I'm not going to pay to see them in the ring. As far as Trevor Murdoch goes. He's at least different. The WWF is so similiar that I can't tell anyone apart anymore. It's nice to see a wrestler with a more natural body actually getting a push. The people bashing him obviously haven't seen much pre-1985 stuff. I'd hate to see Harley Race try to make it these days.
