I think now's a great time for the UFC to be going against Raw. The WWF is coming off of easily the worst month of television in federation history. All McMahon all the time and the JR stuff could easily fling a lot of fans into the waiting arms of whoever's there.

This really pisses me off. The Tolands are probably the best team they've called up in a long while and they've already cut them off at the knees. Why even fucking have OVW when you screw over everyone when you call them up.
-
It's not really Ace. Vince is making him play hardball and then playing innocent like he always does.

Sek, the 90 day clauses only apply to a wrestler if they agree to continue to be paid by the WWF during that time. If you opt out you can immediately appear elsewhere, see Raven in 2003. Contracts running out have no such issues. He could appear on TNA's Primetime special on Thursday if they spliced in a promo.

Bingo....... for the price of this set I could go out and buy a DVD recorder and convert Wrestlemania I-XIV to DVD for a similar price and probably have a better quality copy since the blurs would be gone.

I would laugh for days if the WWF tried to screw over TNA by signing up the two biggest problems with the promotion.
-
Yeah, they did that with Stephanie for a long time. But those were in the days days of 2002 when we actually thought they were going to put the belt on her after Mania. I can see the stopping point. I do the stop thing to if it's someone interesting and I could see Lashley getting some stops since he's new.

Yeah, the rules are a bit different, interesting gimmick from what I just read but by o means enough to carry a match. Here's the list of participants in case you were wondering: Chris Hero Gran Akuma Skayde Blind Rage Sabian Jigsaw Hallowicked Shane Storm UltraMantis Black Icarus Mister ZERO Claudio Castagnoli Eddie Kingston Arik Cannon Mike Quackenbush Milano Collection AT

So Chikara Pro had some 16 man elimination match that went for 104 minutes over the weekend. This spurred an interesting debate elsewhere about match length. IMO, there's no credible way for a wrestling match to go to 104 minutes. I just don't see how even the most gifted workers could make that long of a match work. I think it's too long to keep people's attention and I don't think any wrestler has the kind of moveset to make that work. I notice my enjoyment of matches starts to slowly dip at the 45 minute mark. I've only liked a few matches that have gone around 60 minutes (not counting Rumbles) and I think 60-65 minutes is about the max that any match should go. What are your opinions?

Couldn't we do a more recent list. Like say Hogan's heel turn at Bash at the Beach till today.

I don't buy into gaining viewers. No one really knows when a wrestler is going to be on.

I think using popular music for some wrestlers is ok but you'd be passing on a large source of revenue by not using in house stuff and releasing it on CD. The music in TNA has actually improved a lot since the early days and I think the main eventers have passable music right now. I think the WWF has more work to do music wise personally. I would like to see TNA go back to contenders lists like in the very early weeks. I thought it was great when they did an elimination match and the spot you were eliminated in determined where you fell on the charts. Styles for awhile at least just went down his list of contenders. I've always wanted this angle to come back since Funk had to go through several of the top 10 chart to get a title shot in 89. I would also like to see more international talent on the shows. Getting a working deal with New Japan was a big start now they need to go and get a deal with CMLL. They also need to bring L.A. Par-k in as a regular.

Being involved in the business doesn't mean you have any better grasp of it. Just tune into Sunday Night Football and listen to Joe Theismann. He's played football his entire life and doesn't know the first thing about it outside of the QB position. Look at Vern Gagne who owned the third largest promotion in the U.S. He was in the business for years and could've had a roster of Hulk Hogan, the Freebirds, the Road Warriors, Sgt. Slaughter, Curt Hennig, the Rockers, etc. for the 80s had he had a clue of the actual landscape of the business.

When has being the champion of a company shown that a person has any clue on how the wrestling business works? He can speak his mind but it doesn't mean people are going to call him out when he makes stupid statements. Meltz completely schooled him and reading that makes me feel embrassed on the part of Batista.

I agree. I personally avoid using their names.
-
I think referencing a previous gimmick is ok. And in defense of your friend saying Mr. Wight was less akward than trying to say Big Show or Mr. Show in that situation.
-
I would pay good money for entire NWA PPVs and just editions of Saturday Night and Worldwide on DVD.
-
I think the WWF has generally been good about their match selection for DVDs. DVDs are about the only thing they've been doing right lately.
-
I've seen plenty of Punk's matches. I never said he was a bad worker. Just that he's nowhere near the level people put him on as a worker. And as for the real name thing. Why would someone approach a wrestler and call them by their real name. That makes no sense. Wrestlers should rightly shit all over anyone who does that. I don't even know that many wrestlers by their real names and it honestly annoys me when smarks make a thread about a wrestler using his real name. I think the other reason to shit on those people is because it's their way of trying to put themselves over as knowing a lot.

I did this for another board a few months ago. It is fun but making the list is a lot harder than it looks. After you're past the first 25 you'll want to pull you hair out trying to figure out who you want, where to put them and then having to trash half the list because you forgot someone.
-
Because if it does business like the Flair DVD they'll make even more money doing Vol.2.
-
I'm not. Lawler is awful on these DVDs. He's more concerned with putting himself over than whoever it is he's supposed to be talking about and he comes across like a moron because he totally kayfabes it while everyone else tows the line between work/shoot a lot better, Arn Anderson and Michael Hayes having the perfect balance when they speak.
-
So does Lawler pop in at some point to put over the piledriver as the greatest wrestling move ever like he has on most of the other recent releases?
-
I'd say Vader is the biggest WWF fuck up right behind the Invasion and Ric Flair in the 90s. I think they could've come back in the ratings a little sooner had he won at Summerslam 96.
