Well, it distracts me while he's wrestling, bringing the quality of his matches down. -

The best 5 wrestlers in the US right now

To be fair, I have seen fuck all this year. And also, I rate a match a lot on the atmosphere around it, so I loved the feud and the booking of the match, even if the ring work wasn't the best, although I enjoyed it a whole lot. I have weird taste in matches though. As for Nigel, I loved him as a heel in 2005 and early 2006, but he's become far too samey for me. Plus, whatever match he's in, there have to be a million nearfalls and people kicking out of his finishers. Him as best in the worls is pretty laughable. I had no idea Sydal was that small - the rest of the ROH roster must be complete midgets, since he seems taller than most of them. I figured he was over 6" at least. Matt Hardy I haven't seen enough of lately, though I always thought he was consistently good, while never having any standout singles matches. Finlay, I'm not as big a fan of as most, and I don't like MVP's ring attire. -

London has done alright, he's held the Tag Titles for months at a time and has also been Cruiserweight Champion. Sydal, though, is much, much better than London, a ton more charisma, a better bumper, more flashy and fluid on offence, and a lot more versatile. Sydal could get the crowd into matches a lot more than London. I'd say he could rise to US Champion on SD at least, with the current booking team they seem to have. -

Eddie and Benoit presumably? ??? Rey? Joe? If it is Joe, I kind of agree on that note. He has really lost his aura and freshness, and I'm unsure if he'll ever get it back. Interested in your current list though. I've been selling this guy as the best sympathy babyface in the world for the last two years, he's fucking great at it. Takes a great beating so the guys get behind him, is naturally great looking so the girls get behind him, and is spectacular on offence, so everyone else gets behind him. I think he'd do well in WWE. -
Ok, so I reckon this is a pretty open field at the moment, and I'd be interested to hear what people think about this, and why. Here's my list, keep in mind that I've only seen about 5 hours of 2007 footage, but from what I've seen, as well as the stuff I've watched the last couple of years, these are my top 5... 1. Randy Orton Just a fantastic heel. he has all the mannerisms, great old school offence, not the greatest interview but does his job and pisses the crowd of. The RKO has been built really fucking well, out of nowhere and ends pretty much every match. Should probably take the title at Summerslam, leading to a WM24 chase for Cena. 2. Necro Butcher Absolute fun to watch, I don't think there are many more entertaining wrestlers out there. Believable character, and not afraid to kill himself for my entertainment. 3. William Regal The best promo guy still, and can carry anybody to a watchable match. His matches are more intruiging than exciting, but a lot of the time I find I can't take my eyes off what's going on. Rate him a lot higher than Finlay to be honest. 4. Matt Sydal The best face in the US when he works it, and a great heel as well. Athletic with an awesome moveset, some of the stuff he does defies belief. 5. Cody Rhodes Another great interview, liked some of his older stuff, but the feud with Orton caught my eye. I've watched loads from the Dusty/Cody/Orton feud on Youtube due to loving Dusty, and I've enjoyed it more than anything I've seen in months. Cody/Randy is my MOTY so far. Your thoughts?

It's basically old news. I was shocked at the time, interested at first, but, like always happens with big news stories, you move onto the next one.

They're actually planning to run Khali v Batista v Kane in a PPV main event? It would be almost worth picking up this PPV just to see this - it has to be the worst title match on paper, like ever, surely? While sounding strangely appealing at the same time. This Smackdown injury curse is incredible, since late 2004, they must have had at least 15 - 20 injuries to top guys, it seems every few weeks there's a new big star on SD getting injured, often the champion. Raw, on the other hand, rarely seems to suffer from this. Great Khali as Champion sounds pretty horrible, and surely instead of a stupid Battle Royal, they could have had a 4-Way at the PPV or something. Edge could have even worked it, and got taken out really early.

Yeah. I rmember the Owen Hart death, and after about 2 weeks people stopped talking about it, same with Eddie, although in that case they all kept there mandatory RIP Eddie signartures for a couple of months. I was really interested the first week, but at the moment couldn't care less.

I'm astounded at the level of interest in this still. I really thought people would be totally bored and done with it by now.

Rob Edwards tells me everything is gone. He probably still has the list of the Greatest Wrestler Ever Poll somewhere, but I highly doubt you'll see any of the threads again.

From memory, so might get some wrong, or not include some... AJW - Thunderqueen - Ozaki, Kansai, Fukuoka, Suzuki vs Kong, Takako Inoue, Kyoko Inoue, Hasegawa All Japan - Kerry v Jumbo 1984 ECW - Probably something with Raven in. It's been too long. GAEA - Ozaki & Kaouru vs Asuka & Hirota 6/01 IWA Puerto Rico - Dick Murdoch/Dick Slater v Invader #1/Carlos Colon Jd' - Sumie Sakai v The Bloody ( Best Ironman Ever) Michinoku Pro - 10 Man Tag from These Days Mid Atlantic - Slaughter/Kernodle v Steamboat/Youngblood in the cage New Japan - Benoit v Ohtani 07/95 NWA - Tully/Magnum, Starrcade NOAH - Kobashi/Hashi v Akiyama/Kanemaru, sometime in 2005 ROH - Joe/Punk II St. Louis - Brody/Flair TNA - Joe/Syles 12/05 UWFI - One of the Vader/Tanaka matches most likely. WCW - Benoit v Raven v DDP WWC (Puerto Rico) - Dirty White Boy/Brian Lee v Invader #1/El Bronco WWF - Austin v Angle 08/01 WWE (2002-present) - Benoit/Lesnar 12/03 All I can think of right now.

I love Necro, pretty much the only wrestler I enjoy watching these days. Unique look, fits the character, and I like his style. The matches are fucking sick, and I love it. You totally buy into the fact that he's a crazy homeless guy who doesn't give a shit.

Looks like Smarkschoice has finally gone, after not being paid for the best part of a year. Shame to lose the posts though, especially the GWE list.

Anyone else now really bored with the whole Benoit saga?
-
I'll support a campaign to get to the bottom of this.

Who would have thought 3 years ago when Eddie and Chris were World Champions, that they'd both be dead today? Feel sorry for his other two kids, but really a lot of the stuff going around isn't called for... 'I hate his bitch mother for giving birth to the bastard' 'The sick motherfucker I'll never watch a match of that piece of shit again' 'the man is garbage, he should be discarded as such, i hope he can wrestle in purgatory,i believe hell has some standards.' 'i wouldn't even waste the saliva to spit on his grave.' I for one thinks there's more to this story than meets the eye, especially with the Bible's and stuff, when he wasn't in the least bit religious. I just don't see how he could have been in his right mind. Everyone who knew him really had nice things to say about him, he always comes across so well. maybe the stress of being on the road so long, the deaths of Eddie and Owen and others, the drug use catching up on him, the injuries. I can't believe that he did it in a fully normal state of mind.

Looks like no Hall Of fame for Benoit then. Also, I predict a surge of people with 'Benoit' or 'Pegasus' in their username getting the Admin's to change their name.
-
And apparently... From CBenoit at SC.
-
Wow, thanks guys. The plot thickens. I don't think we're ever going to find out the full story here, to be honest.

I was following the DVDVR 'ACTUAL NEWS' thread this morning when it was a page in, but now it seems to have shot up to 16 pages. Can someone summarize the developements of the last few hours to me?
-
I'm only speculating. Nobody really knows what happened. At the Cricket World Cup, the death of Bob Woolmer was reported as a murder for a week, before more conclusive tests confirmed it wasn't a murder. Until something official gets released, I'm keeping an open mind.
-
I have to say, I watched a Benoit match today, and found I was merely apathetic. I can honestly say though, that it was more due to me boredom at a lot of wrestling than any contempt to the wrestlers, so it probably won't effect the way I watch his matches. I think WMXX won't be ranked so high anymore by most people, since a lot of what made that match was the happiness they felt for Benoit at finally achieving his goal, which may now be evaporated. I'm not jumping to conclusions though, I mean, anything is possible. Nancy could have killed the kid, and Benoit killed her in a rage then himself because he was unable to live with them. He may have been suffering dementia from all the neck and head trauma and the steroids. Who can say.

Suggestions for things to include in the future
anarchistxx replied to Loss's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
Yes, I'd love a Benoit tribute set of 3 - 5 discs, but WildPegasus maybe the man to put it together.
