  4. I wish he'd break a flowerpot in a hotel, just to see what they'd do about it.
  5. Something tells me Vince McMahon LOVES what they're doing with Viscera right now.
  6. That said, I'd probably still choose the Blonds over Owen and Davey Boy, just because I think they had better matches.
  7. I think they should replace La Res personally.
  8. That's 48 teams. We can actually work within that if that's cool with everyone. It just means we'll have to do seeds and the top 16 seeds will get an automatic bye to the second round.
  9. Angle was really good last night, and Flair was obviously beaming, perhaps because he wants to work with him. My guess is that HHH moves to Smackdown (though that may be wrong), and I think Flair will probably go with him. The problem with that though is that Shawn could use a change in scenery himself, and him and HHH should really be on different shows.
  10. I wonder if her current character can work...as a face, that is. I think it's possible that Lita is hated enough that anyone who opposes her will be a babyface. Like it or not, she was the missing ingredient Edge needed.
  11. I think that comes down to people just wanting Jericho to be more involved in the show, and they'll take it however they can get it. There was a time when I would have said turning him heel was a mistake, but that was when I thought there was a chance he'd become the champ and top babyface. They're never going to let him reach his full potential, so better to put him in the role in which he's far more natural and entertaining.
  12. Also, what really sucks about Lita (make the obvious jokes) is that when Trish returns, she'll either be the #2 heel or she'll have to abort the character she's worked so hard on getting over and turn face again.
  13. But yeah, Jericho/Cena had more heat than anything on the show, and the crowd bought into Jericho's heel turn immediately. Chris was on a roll last night, and he needs to wet his hair like that every week, because it makes it less obvious that he has such a stupid haircut.
  14. Okay, do we need to narrow the criteria? Everyone who plans on voting, please make a post on what companies, eras, etc, you think you've seen enough footage from to judge properly and we'll go from there. I'm worried that it's basically going to be WWF tag teams from 1990-2005 when we're all said and done, because I doubt if a lot of people have even seen a Midnight Express versus Rock & Roll Express match. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  15. My picks to be axed. I only have 10. Beverly Brothers Cuban Commandos (only because I doubt if most of us have seen enough footage to rank them properly) Danny Doring & Roadkill Jack & Jerry Brisco (peaked before timeframe) La Resistance Mikey Whipwreck & Yoshihiro Taijiri Natural Disasters Nova & Chris Chetti Power & Glory Powers of Pain
  16. Here's a going alphabetical list and I added in a few more teams. To explain, I gave two entrances for the Freebirds and MX since both were separate, long-term (1-year+) teams and gave one entrance to teams with interchangeable partners (La Res, 3 Count, etc). There are 77 teams listed below and 13 of them need to hit the bricks. I'll give my picks in the following post. 3 Count (Shane Helms/Shannon Moore/Evan Karagias) Adrian Adonis & Dick Murdoch Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton Bad Company (Pat Tanaka & Paul Diamond) Barry Windham & Dustin Rhodes Beverly Brothers/Destruction Crew/Minnesota Wrecking Crew II (Mike Enos & Wayne Bloom) Booker T & Goldust Brainbusters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard) Brian Pillman & Tom Zenk British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith) Chavo & Hector Guerrero Chris Adams & Gino Hernandez Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko Chris Candido & Lance Storm Cuban Commandoes Danny Doring & Roadkill Demolition (Ax & Smash) Doom (Ron Simmons & Butch Reed) Dream Team (Greg Valentine & Brutus Beefcake) Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray & D-Von) Edge & Christian Edge & Rey Misterio Jr Eliminators (Perry Saturn & John Kronus) Enforcers (Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko) Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes/Gordy/Roberts) Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes/Garvin) Fabulous Ones (Stan Lane & Steve Keirn) Fantastics (Tommy Rogers & Bobby Fulton) Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa Saed) Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff) Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart) Heavenly Bodies (Stan Lane & Tom Pritchard) Heavenly Bodies (Tom Pritchard & Jimmy Del Ray) Hollywood Blondes (Steve Austin & Brian Pillman) Ivan & Nikita Koloff Jack & Jerry Brisco Jung Dragons (Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang) Kerry & Kevin Von Erich Killer Bees La Resistance (Dupree/Conway/Grenier) Los Guerreros (Eddy & Chavo) Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey) Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) Mikey Whipwreck & Yoshihiro Taijiri Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) Moondogs (Rex & Spot) Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags & Brian Knobs) Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon) New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) Nova & Chris Chetti Orient Express (Akio Sato & Pat Tanaka) Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash) Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith Power & Glory (Hercules & Paul Roma) Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian) Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge & Rocco Rock) Raven & Perry Saturn Rick & Scott Steiner Road Warriors/Legion of Doom (Animal & Hawk) Rob Van Dam & Sabu Rock & Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty) Shawn Michaels & Diesel Smoking Gunns (Billy & Bart Gunn) Southern Boys/Young Pistols (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) Steve Williams & Ted DiBiase Strike Force (Rick Martel & Tito Santana) Stud Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) Twin Towers (Big Boss Man & Akeem) US Express (Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda) Vitamin C (Chris Jericho & Christian) White Lightning (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner)
  17. Not to belabor a point that has been made many times, but speaking of that, I don't think anyone would care what Scott Keith looked like if he didn't talk so much shit and make himself out to be too cool for the room. I typically have a problem with people trashing someone for their appearance, but in Scott's case, it's only because of the medicine he dispenses. Anyway, I know all this has been said a million times before, and I don't want to drive this into the ground. I hate even talking about him at this point honestly, but considering how many readers he has and how often he gets namedropped, it's bound to happen sometimes.
  18. I've always maintained that Scott Keith's success has more to do with the fact that he's reviewed more US footage than anyone else. If we can ever find a good reviewer to step up and cover *all* of the WCW and WWF PPVs, and most of the TV, he'll become an afterthought rather quickly. As it is, he's too convenient to be irrelevant, and that's the only reason he's still as popular as he is.
  19. Preliminary reports here are saying 800,000 buys, but I've never heard of results coming out this early for any PPV, and until Meltzer substantiates that, I'm not believing it. That's not to say it doesn't stand an excellent chance of being true, but I'd rather see it confirmed. And I don't actually have PWI Elite access - someone posted that on another board and I dragged it here.
  20. The difference in Jericho's output when he's in a top angle and when he's going nowhere in the midcard has always been pretty substantial. He was feeling it last night, despite the fact that his turn came out of nowhere, it totally contradicted the direction they were going with him, it weakened the Cena/Christian issue and the portrayal of the whole thing on the show in the big picture only served to make Cena look like a guy who wastes his time feuding with midcarders while the real stars are HHH, Batista, Angle and Michaels.
  21. Well, it starts in 45 minutes. How the hell are they going to top the emotional rollercoaster that was last night's PPV? Will they acknowledge it at all? As Meltzer has said, between the fallout from One Night Stand, Cena's first RAW match, the next draftee on RAW and Steve Austin's appearance, RAW should be pretty newsworthy tonight. Tonight, and over the next few months, we may get a feel for exactly what Vince thought of the show last night, because if he was terribly impressed by it, we'll see a few changes in the product. Only match announced thus far is Cena/Jericho v Christian/Tomko, which has potential to either further the Cena/Christian feud, or they may use this as a chance to complete Jericho's heel turn and set up a feud with Cena there. Lots of questions, RAW should provide at least a few answers.
  22. This is all from PWInsider audio, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm especially skeptical of the Eddy Guerrero story, because that's completely uncharacteristic of him. -- Here's the lowdown on the JBL/Blue Meanie situation. JBL was still bitter about a 2001 interview Meanie did in which he accused JBL to be the ringleader of the backstage hazing and called JBL "the biggest asshole in the WWF." JBL apparently remembered this and had his eye on Meanie during the brawl. As Meanie was brawling with Coach, JBL hit Meanie in the back of the head. JBL proceeded to wallop Meanie, ripping out the staples that had to be put in his head from Hardcore Homecoming, giving him a new gash, and a black eye. Meanie had to pull Maven on top of him to shield himself from JBL, and this is where the ECW guys noticed what was going on. Axl Rotten started throwing punches at JBL, and soon Tracey Smothers (notorious for taking care of business where its needed) joined in. The Sandman started choking JBL with his cane, pulling him back leaving him open for wide open shots that started to be taken by Mikey Whipwreck and Balls Mahoney. Al Snow was about to jump in on the JBL beating when Bubba Ray Dudley noticed what was happening and pulled JBL out of the ring. Bubba threw a legit punch at JBL's face and threw him back into the WWE contingent. After the show, JBL was waiting for Meanie at the gorilla position and had to be held back while screaming about what Meanie said about him. Meanie basically ignored him and walked off in another direction. Odds are, no action will be taken against JBL because he is an office favorite, but a lot of the wrestlers are very unhappy with him. -- If you suspected by Eddie Guerrero's demeanor that he did not want to be at the show and phoned in his performance, you'd be exactly right. When Guerrero saw the setlist backstage, he was not happy to find out he was tapping out clean. He had an attitude about himself the whole night so it looks as if he intentionally sandbagged the match on purpose, making Chris Benoit very frustrated, who really wanted to put on a memorable match for the ECW crowd. Benoit and Guerrero traded words with each other after the match, as Guerrero was also very upset at the injury to his face he suffered. He also immediately left the show after his match was over, which is why he was absent at the closing WWE vs. ECW battle. -- Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon were both backstage at the PPV, although they didn't play any part in the booking of the actual show. They were merely just backstage spectators and making sure everything was going smooth for Paul Heyman & Tommy Dreamer, who were running the show. Stephanie McMahon nor Triple H were at the show. -- The only person that RVD's interview had to be cleared with was Paul Heyman, Vince had nothing to do or nothing to say about RVD's promo. -- Paul Heyman's "shoot" was different. His shoot on Edge was planned. Edge was told about it earlier in the day and was said to be completely fine with it. With Heyman's shoot on JBL, it was not planned and Vince was watching it on a monitor backstage. Vince was initially surprised about what Heyman said, but eventually laughed about it, saying, "I don't care, he put Triple H over." -- After their match, both Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Psicosis were visibly upset that their match was a disappointment (both men immediately knew it), however Rey was working on a legit injured ankle, so credit must be given where credit is due for Rey even working. -- Stone Cold Steve Austin was very, very impressed with One Night Stand and was incredibly enthusiastic to be a part of it. -- Joey Styles has signed a contract with WWE that allows WWE to use legally use his voice in voice-over work and could possibly utilize him in the ECW part of WWE 24/7.

  24. Meanwhile, RVD gives Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle black eyes and has his push taken away from him in late 2001. In 2002, he lands wrong on HHH, which HHH recovered from inside a week, and loses his push yet again.
