  1. WCW is the precise reason I haven't dived into this thread. We have a love-hate relationship, WCW and I, considering that 90% of my favorite moments and 90% of my least favorite moments in wrestling history came from something broadcast on TBS or in syndication.
  2. "I was going to note that Akisoshi Saito is dressed as Chigusa Nagayto as ZERO, but then he takes his hooded robe off and is dressed like PATTI PEP! He dances to "Mickey" by Toni Basil and shakes his altered codpiece at Eigen- who doesn't want any part of that since that unfortunate drunken encouter with flamboyant Eric Embry in 79- and then shakes it to Kikuchi. Kikuchi is fucking hardcore so I could see him mounting Saito bareback and ungreased just to teach him a lesson about wearing a bare midrift. I myself just want to love on his fuzzy cashmere wristbands and leg warmers. Put a wig on KENTA and half the guys in the audience and all the Puro Dorks on the internet would have a go at it with a clear conscience. Who is to say I am above the Puro Dork designation? WHO? WHO IS TO SAY???!!!" - Dean Rasmussen
  3. "I wonder what Eddie Gilbert would think of the internet? Probably that it?s great he could order hydrocodone with Missy Hyatt?s credit card." -- Dean Rasmussen
  4. Every casual fan I knew thought she was really cute. I only knew a few who described her as "hot", but cute was used a lot.
  5. I can't help but laugh everytime I hear the words Piggly Wiggly. I think it should be a wrestling gimmick.
  6. I think guys like Buchanan, Luther Reigns and others might have eventually become good in the ring with lots of ring time and some guidance.
  7. Just like before.
  8. Do you think the idea of taking a sign to an event is self-absorbed and is just a way to get on TV? I agree that they shouldn't take them away if they're going to allow them at all, but I'd rather them stop allowing them altogether, even if I understand why they do.
  9. Anyone else? We need some type of indication that there is indeed interest in doing this tournament right now.
  10. From 1Wrestling: I personally hate signs and wish they'd go back to the old days of darkening the arena, because I think the only reason to hold a sign is to put yourself over as clever when the show is not about you, but I know I'm in the minority, and WWE really shouldn't take away any signs unless they have obscene language. Vince does go on and on about free speech and listening to the fans, but when something is said that contradicts his vision, he snaps. There was nothing on any one of these signs that should have been confiscated, and it can't just be coincidental that around the time they started doing this (the Austin/Rock build to WM X-7), the product started to suffer. I can't see any fan who has a sign taken away ever paying to see WWE again. Your thoughts?
  11. There have probably been others just as cool, but has anyone in wrestling ever been *more cool* than Rick Rude?

  13. This is exactly what a typical interview in wrestling should sound like, at least the money promos.
  14. The Angle/Taker story would have been even better had Angle defended himself, but I think he knew better. He could have wiped the floor with the Undertaker. The Jericho/Goldberg story still makes me laugh.
  15. Orton going to Smackdown is the right move. Problem is, the last two picks, be it HHH, Batista, Michaels, Jericho, Christian or Cena, are going to be the ones that make the biggest lasting impression on the show, so we won't know just how strong Smackdown is until this is all over.
  16. Cena going to RAW is the worst thing that could have happened to him, unless HHH moves to Smackdown. Then again, if HHH goes there, moving Benoit and Orton there really serves no purpose. I'd much rather Shawn Michaels leave RAW, and I hope they'll just start moving all the people I don't care about to one show or the other so I can just watch one.
  17. I'll second the Workrate reports at DVDVR. And Dean's Smackdown comics as well.

  19. Because it hasn't been mentioned, I'm shocked that there isn't much controversy over Austin saying "I see sand people" to Hassan and Daivari. If the right people find out about it, it could cause some major problems for them.
  20. I think Sean Royal got in a car accident that was pretty severe, but I don't remember what happened from there. He may have even died. Chris Champion had a brief revival in 1993 as Yoshi Kwan, who was squashed by Cactus Jack at Fall Brawl '93, but that's all I know.
  21. Are there any unclaimed bookers out there that could pull it off? I'm tempted to say Kevin Sullivan could, and I'm almost regretting that as I say it, but that kind of environment would play to his strengths as a booker. Jimmy Hart may also be a good choice. What was the guy's name who was supposed to be coming in to book for WCW before they shut down -- John Muse, I think ... he's supposed to have a fantastic wrestling mind. I guess there are people out there who could do it. The key would be finding the right editor or filter person, although I don't know who that would be.
  22. I know, it wouldn't last, but for a few months, I wish they could have done something. That was pretty much the last you saw of them. NWA fans got really into it and started bringing out Mulkeymania signs and they were getting big pops for it. It's similar to what the WWF did with the 1-2-3 Kid in 1993.
  23. Makes you wonder if Dusty could have done more to briefly capitalize on Mulkeymania.
  24. I think WCW had the best television model in existence prior to the Monday Night Wars, and I think WWE would be best served to follow it. Yeah, Saturday nights on TBS were always the A game, but they didn't treat any shows like they were unimportant. That frame of mind is a byproduct of the Monday Night Wars, because that's when both companies started putting all their effort into their flagship shows and totally neglecting everything else. All the top stars should be on Velocity. Not necessarily every week and not even advancing storylines constantly, but no one should be "above" working any show. If the company doesn't care about it, why should the fans? As for ECW, I think if it became a regular feature, it would be run into the ground and get very old, very fast, and politically, since Stephanie hates Paul Heyman, she'd try to tweak it, they'd have to interact with each other, and she'd end up lobbying for him to get fired. She's basically the big reason he doesn't have a lot of power in that company right now, because she despises him. I'm not interested in an ECW not run by Heyman at all. I'm glad the show got a huge buyrate, but I think the lesson to take from that show is just how loyal you can get a fanbase to be over the long haul if you're good to them. With WWE on a larger scale, theoretically, that same philosophy would work just the same and make them beaucoups of money.
  25. To my knowledge, Tully Blanchard never played a babyface of any kind, anywhere. Even when he was in his dad's territory in San Antonio, he still played the heel, and I think Southwest was the first area he worked.
