  3. I would be shocked if they have any concrete ideas for him beyond doing these vignettes. It reminds me in some ways of a more entertaining version of Make Darren Young Great Again.
  4. I've always had the theory that it's not Stephanie heading Creative that was the problem, since we've seen the problems continue long after she's gone, but rather Stephanie becoming an on-air character. There are stories of her being bothered by Mick Foley going off script in their early TV interactions. She also got upset when Dusty Rhodes tried to ad-lib in 2013. I think scripted promos were a way of keeping her from getting eaten alive when she was booked to argue with people like The Rock and Chris Jericho every week.
  5. He's comparing himself as the upstart futurist attempting the impossible, I think.
  6. There are a lot of social, economic, political, technological, and cultural factors driving this that I think have almost nothing to do with the people themselves, and this is one of the rare times I wish we weren't Pro Wrestling Only, so I could expand on that a little. But we are, so I won't, except to say that I don't look at it as a moral failing or a character defect.
  7. There was a story years back that Vince was sleeping all day long every Friday and not going to work.
  8. Is Vince still taking one day a week to sleep all day long?
  9. I think this deserves a thread. Just started listening but it's already getting tons of buzz. http://www.westwoodonepodcasts.com/pods/talk-is-jericho/
  10. We are back in the Working The Boys era. This was discussed on today's WOR, but apparently some wrestlers were told it was unscripted when it wasn't.
  11. They think the Corbin boos are a sign he has heat and is a hot heel. I don't dislike Corbin nearly as most, but people who hate that he's getting pushed should stop giving him such a loud reaction live.
  12. Pure coincidence. I also suspect that the drawings aren't on the up and up and are often rigged to favor the top stars, but I have no proof of that. I have, however, long suspected it. I should investigate.
  13. Not a huge fan of the Rumble compared to how others see it, but I understand its value and importance in WWE folklore. But I usually hate the match itself. Watching people lay on the top rope and then crawl back under the bottom rope for 75 minutes is boring. Elimination teases are boring and there's only so many ways to do them. Also, in a world where the idea is that you prove superiority to others by pinning or submitting them, what does throwing someone over the top rope actually prove?
  14. I irrationally hate pretty much all battle royals and think they should have gone the way of the dodo bird many years ago. No types of wrestling matches are more uninteresting.
  15. There have been a few times that I really thought it would have added a lot to matches and it wasn't to be, for sure. It's one of those things that seems awful to the outside world, not realizing that it's pretty low-risk compared to a lot of things wrestlers do that don't look as bad.
  16. I like the use of the blade. I don't think it should be rolled out all the time or people will quickly be desensitized to it. But it's one of the obvious ways a company can distinguish themselves from WWE. I understand why WWE doesn't do it even though I wish they did. Still, blood used the right way can really enhance the presentation.
  17. It's amazing to me how much WWE does in a calculated way to get positive media coverage that doesn't or can't hold a candle to this tweet:
  18. Unlocking the thread, which can now be for non-Double or Nothing discussion related to AEW. However, since AEW is now a major promotion, I encourage you all to start new threads for specific items of interest instead of turning this into another megathread.
  19. I feel like I could safely bet that I'll eat my hat if WWE plays highlights from the MITB match and safely embeds them in their own canon for years to come. Remember that Kevin Owens bump?
  20. Whoever gets the briefcase will probably be on both shows for a while since they love to tease constant cash-ins and then not do them. Sami Zayn makes the most sense as the winner since there are two babyface champions, but I could also see them going with any of the heels in the match.
  21. It was a quick moment, but I thought it was a curious production choice as well. It was great when they used to do that to show the people singing along with The Rock, but it's always awkward when they do it under pretty much any other circumstance.
  22. I think the case being made is that Wendi didn't know BEFORE the match. Of course she knew during the match.
  23. Well yeah, I assumed the same. She didn't know in advance, but knew in the ring of course.
  24. I thought that was the whole story of Spider Lady -- that Wendi didn't know and that Moolah was put in there to doublecross her.
  25. In a typical writers' room, maybe not, I don't know. Why any writer with real achievements would want to work there surprises me. They don't even do credits.
