  1. For what it's worth, there are WONs from '88ish where, when commenting on Murdoch looking good in JCP, he said something along the lines of "Murdoch worked like he was in Japan" as a way of saying he was working hard. So at that time he didn't seem to think that Murdoch ever dogged it in Japan. John, is it time to drag out the '84 and '87 Japan trip issues again? '84 would've been during the MSG Tag League which seems like an odd time to be lazy.
  2. How about that, it was Muraco. Scanned through it to see what Murdoch did and he was far from lazy. He did his usual shtick (including some great stuff on the apron), took a bump into the ring as part of said apron shtick, and hit all of his trademark spots, including the brainbuster and calf branding.
  3. As far as handhelds go, there's a Murdoch/Adonis vs Briscos from Pittsburgh (Graham's saite says it's Muraco instead of Adonis but I'm pretty sure that's wrong). It's been a long time since I watched it, but I don't remember Murdoch being noticeably lazy. It wasn't close to being as good as the MSG match, more because it was too short. IIRC, it was about the same quality as the televised house show match from Philly, which was also too short. I could dig it up and watch it again.

  6. The Florida house show footage is all clipped because it's 16mm film. Terry's win shown on 24/7 was the entire film (which isn't the entire match) featured as a full segment. Dory's was just the last 5-10 seconds as part of a montage. I've never seen more footage of Dory's win.
  7. Alright, who wants to post the F4W thread about the review?
  8. Ha. Nothing official yet but a few likelys that I need to contact...will post when they're set up. You'll be happy with them.
  9. According to a former WWE production assistant who was interviewed on a podcast or two, they're specifically discouraged from checking dates online.
  10. Thanks. I thought he seemed more exasperated that things that were wrong became accepted truth (in the case of Funk's punches, that may have been a change as he got older because the main source for that item Mick Foley, who first wrestled him in 1994, and I had it confirmed to me by someone who wrestled him this decade) because they were in the newsletters like NWA All-Star Wrestling as developmental/farm team. It wasn't the easiest interview as it didn't flow well based on how he gave his answers, but I thought it was still fun.
  11. That said, I'm pretty sure they're the same Hogan defenders.
  12. Only the last few seconds were shown, and it was on the Terry film room, which showed HIS title win, so that may have confused you.
  13. I'm just happy to see them releasing Dory's title win.
  14. http://loserleavestown.net/?p=165 Memphis legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee joins me to discuss his career including his various booking jobs, pushing younger wrestlers, various Memphis-related topics, working for the Cole Brothers Circus, his wrestling school, and much more. Definitely worth a listen if you’re a fan of Memphis and/or Mid-South.
  15. ... http://wrestlingbabylon.wordpress.com/2009...estling-review/ (Though I concede that "shocking omission" was just over the line into hyperbole in hindsight...yeah...)
  16. Thanks. http://wrestlingbabylon.wordpress.com/2009...uable-resource/ My reply that I gave him permission to post:
  17. My review's here. Irv liked the review and will apparently be addressing the criticisms on his blog (uh oh?). Anyone else here read it yet?
  18. Thanks to an assist from Gary Cubeta of 57Talk.com, expect a whole bunch of cool guests in the near future. Tomorrow will be the one and only Bill Dundee. If you've got any questions, post them here.
  19. It also depends on if the jokes are any good.
  20. It's because of the F4W people. Is the moderated area still there? That was originally supposed to be more of a "WON subscribers and Dave" area but it didn't work out.
  21. Nah, I'm outsourced. Did you think I was moving to Canada, too?
  22. Pro-CM Punk propaganda.
  23. I'm just happy to see a semi-mainstream outlet validate my old semi-trolling message board talking points.
  24. Best of NYC, 2009: Best Place to Watch Straight Men Get All Homoerotic Yes, I did post more about it on Cageside Seats. It clearly supposed to be a positive review but the ROH fans in the comments and at the ROH forum (where the thread was locked) don't seem to understand that.
