  1. Watching this now... So the angle starts with Vince saying he's gonna job out all of the WCW guys out so their value is nil after they're gone, Flair says "lol no, we gonna SH00T!", WWF crew led by Austin comes out and is all "LOL we not gonna SH00T! and get hurt" and...bdfbgvewdbnskwbv ksdjbgvsdbvgwsjv
  2. I have the '86 Australian tour promos tape that's in circulation and I'm sure Hogan's not on it. I remember being shocked at the lameness of the crew they were sending, heavily pushing Paul Roma and S.D. Jones as a tag team. (BTW, that tape is a MUST for the wrestler Toyota commercials, as this is during the "What a feeling' or whatever ad campaign)

  4. They key is that Hogan's never wrestled in Australia before, on top of Celebrity Wrestling ending its run there now in what's apparently a much smaller TV universe.
  5. How did the phrase "Inoki is love" get in my head? Something wacky he did, an old newsletter joke, or something I made up completely as a joke about the World Wrestling Peace Festival?
  6. Didn't know about that habit, but then I had a hunch and Googled his name w/ "UKFF."
  7. Prodigy was still around in 2000?
  8. Don't forget Alvarez comparing Universo to Snitsky ("so bad he's good") while calling me out by name and Dave's "but he's one of Los Hermanos Dinamitas, he would never do a dive" PBP when Universo got cut off in some report, not realizing that his plancha was a move he did regularly. Oh, and the whole "control segments" debate w/ Ditch over the Universo-Perrito match.
  9. Well, it's more that "technical" and "spot-based" aren't mutually exclusive (see T2P). Oh, and I figured out that Matthew Jones = MOJ who I guess doesn't like me because I'd call him on his story of allegedly seeing CM Punk drinking a pint of beer. Or something.
  10. Looks like one of those "members only articles not labeled as members only and not of special interest to anyone but still members only" articles. Why is it that everyone who internet calls me out by name accuses me of saying things that I've never said? Or thinks I'm from another country? Guessing this is a case of Dave seemingly not reading what he posts as he does sometimes because we've been getting along fine. Anything else in the letter of note?
  11. Perro's been helped by people who have seen '80s footage of him now (and to a lesser extent people who saw his son and read comparisons to Sr's prime) but that's probably not a lot of people.
  12. The idea that ROH would loan money to anyone given their spiral over the last year, much less Ric Flair, is fascinating to me.
  13. I don't believe that there's anyone who thinks that Snuka's competitive bodybuilding history strengthens his case at HOFer. Other than maybe Dave.
  14. What... ...seriously, what... ...I'm not kidding, what... ...the hell?
  15. Hey, there WAS an HOF thread...and I forgot...
  16. Ah geez, I totally forgot about the other 2 sentences. THAT was what totally put it over the top as defamatory. So where did he actually say that?
  17. I only knew that story from your Eyada phone call Bix but I never knew Mitchell actually sued. When and where did Eric say that? Dave mentioned the suit in the last couple years in the Observer. Not sure when, but he said that there was a settlement over a suit filed by Mitchell over comments Bischoff made. Bischoff said it in an interview right before that WOL show.
  18. Former WWE writer on the Hall of Fame and his favorite wrestler growing up
  19. On that note, the Mitchell-Bischoff lawsuit settlement is one I'd really love to hear more about. For those unfamiliar with the story: Mitchell wrote something, Bischoff made a reference to Mitchell, who's a school teacher, "graduating from the Jim Thompson school of journalism" (in the same tone/cadence as "the Terry Garvin school of self defense") shortly after Thompson (who wrote a wrestling newspaper column as "M.L. Curly") was outed as having molested children for the previous 30 years. Mitchell sued, Bischoff and/or WCW settled for a decent sum.
  20. Angle would have gone in as easily this year as he did originally. I'm not so sure. He would've probably gotten in but there has to be a decent amount of guys who find him embarrassing, both for being so publicly nuts and being in TNA.
  21. That's not a credible argument, thats just evidence that Alvarez is an idiot. Oh, I know. Just felt like mentioning it. It was actually much worse in context, if you can believe it.
  22. Bryan Alvarez has argued that Angle at his peak was so far beyond anyone ever in the ring that tenure doesn't matter and he's an HOFer.
  23. Yes, Europe is a separate "region." Edge has been a consistent main eventer for about 3.5 years, at least about 1/3 of which has been spent injured. He wasn't an HOF level worker at all beforehand. As a main eventer, he didn't affect business close to the levels of Cena, Rey, or Eddy at the height of their drawing powers as far as WWE guys in recent history go. His ringwork has also been pretty inconsistent, as one week he'll be this annoying Nova-ish guy whose offense looks like it can't break an egg, the next week he's having an awesome match with Batista (or more recently John Morrison). Meltzer stuff: For starters, he seems to have no idea how British wrestling worked as a business and makes direct comparisons to the US, Japan, and Mexico about how they can't be big deals if only 2 or 3 shows from Joint Promotions ever drew 10,000 people or more. Angle: Voted in after 5-6 years in the business. The rules were immediately changed after he was voted in, changing the requirements from 35 years old or 15 years experience to 15 years experience or at least 40 years old with at least 10 years experience, which wouldn't have made him eligible until this year. I have no idea if Angle would get voted in if he first became eligible this year, but he mostly likely wouldn't have gotten in as easily.
  24. There's an '85 Observer where he wishes death on Andre and Studd because they're having such bad matches.
