With that said LU has lost it's way, even though they have a lot of talent I like. 4. CWF Worldwide -A killer go home show to Battlecade -Does Trevor Lee put another notch on his belt as the best champ in the world? -How great was the closing angle between Lee and Attitude -Is this the best wrestling show around 5. 2. Sheepherders vs Bruise Bros Chicago Street Fight The 1/24/86 is essential viewing as it's a hot angle to set up the Chicago Street Fight on 1/31/86. This is a decent brawl, made all the better by the incredible crowd heat. I can't put over how much heat the Sheepherders generated here. Houston is easiest one of the more patriotic cities in the U.S. For crowd heat the match gets 5*, for work it gets 2*. Combined I'll go 3 1/4*.

  4. Lol, yep I meant Earth 3.
  5. This is JIP and we get the last 2 falls. Koloff was great here at making Brody look good. Koloff bumped big. He took weapon shots. He bled for him. Koloff really made this match.
  6. On paper this looks really good. In execution not so much. I mean it was a solid match , but lacked something. It was a little sloppy like how they blew the 1st fall finish, but they covered well except the ref was confused. Gordman was ahead of his time using a DDT and STO's. Hopefully they do better in the rematch, and that it's on nwaondemand. 2*
  7. Gilbert/Nightmare vs Guerreros Eddie and the Nightmare are the tag champs here. with Humperdink as their manager. I thought both teams did a good job. The in ring work had a real good ring psychology, and the story was easy to follow. Gilbert and the Nightmare both bumped and stooged early for the Guerreros. The Guerreros get a nice shine. First they work over the Nightmare's arm with some good arm work. Eventually Gilbert gets in and they really work over his arm. I loved Chavo's key lock in this. It takes some interferance from the Nightmare to turn the tied. They do a good job working over Hector for a bit. Chavo hot tag and he's running wild. He hits a big move and has a visual pinfall. The heels distract the ref to allow Humperdink to hit Chavo. The ref turns around just in time for a DQ. 3 1/2*

  9. It is full on NWA ON Demand and the missing part really makes this match epic.

    FloSlam

Plus according to the Observer Vince wants to start airing Indy's on the network .
  12. Rick Steiner has a face only a mother could love. I thought they got a lot out of the early arm bar work. Essentially though this match had one thing in mind. That was for Jake to go over with the DDT. When it happens the crowd goes wild. Jake gave Rick most of the match since Jake was going over strong.
  13. This is a squash with a good piece of business postmatch. When Perez got a little comeback the crowd went wild. Post match Humongous beats on Perez. Jake the Snake runs out for a confrontation. Lord Humongous has had a lot of influence over the years to ManKind,Kane to currently Mantanza.
  14. This is pretty much a squash but it was a lot of fun. Doc showing off a lot of schtick here. I'm guessing Gibson's calling it because it's worked very Memphis like. 1st we get some hair pulling schtick that works like a charm. Then a test of strength that was a ton of fun. Doc has a rep of being pretty one dimensional. Here though we see another layer from him, and he did it well.Super fun underneath match.
  15. This is like a bizzaro world match where Duggan is the heel and Buddy not quite Nature Boy is the face. Duggan even as a heel shows the charisma that would make him loved by the crowd even to this day. He also has this Tiger by the tail energy to him. This was a fun bout. I love Duggan going for his spear right off the bat to no avail. Landell keeps Duggan off balance with arm drags. Duggans strength is too much and uses it to his advantage. The match is pretty basic, but I thought Duggan's mannerisms carried this. 2 1/2*

On the docket for tonight. 1.ROH -Thoughts on this as a go home show -Was this ROH best show this year? -Could Lio Rush be used as a heel? -Alex Shelley as a commentator -Thoughts on both matches -Was this the perfect way to use Kyle O'Reilly as a promo? -Did Adam Cole anchor the show? 2. Lucha Underground -Is this the best way to book the Black Lotus Tribe? -Was this the most repetitive show ever? -How awesome was the build to Mantanza vs Rey match. 3. CWF Worldwide -Ultimate Survivor -How fun was the TV title concept -What wrestler does Cain Justice remind Pete of? -Was the main event a little confusing? -Did the closing angle do its job? 4.Inspire pro-Fade to Black 2 -Pete and Timothy discuss the matches with star ratings? -How good was the crowd? -Is Ray Rowe vs Sammy Guervara a MOTYC? -What famous match did Brad W compare it to? -Some background on the promoter and promotion. -How good was the show from top to bottom? 00:03:07 ROH TV 00:28:54 Lucha Underground 00:35:40 CWF Mid-Atlantic 00:51:53 Inspire Pro: Fade to Black 2
  19. Where did you get that number?
  20. The Arn/Tully with JJ is a really odd pairing. Do u ignore their NY run? All of JJ's runs elsewhere ? Tully's Houston and SWCW run
  21. I agree Cena was a fan of Sting's . Plus they share a lot of traits. A lot of the roster view Sting as a big deal, yet again that doesn't mean he's a HOF guy. Heck he was a big star in my eyes growing up.
  22. Do you think there's an argument that Sting's influence case has grown? I'm not saying I agree with it, and if I had a vote I wouldn't vote for Sting, but there's a certain aura around him that has grown in recent years. He's looked at as a legend by a large subject of mainstream wrestling fandom. There's a certain influence that he has. I don't think it sniffs Bryan's influence, or Punk's for that matter, but there's something there. What has he influenced? Modern babyface and match structure. Again, I don't see that too much, I am just looking at things from another perspective. I know your not pushing him, but I don't see that. Sting is an 80's style babyface as was his match structure. This coming from a guy who watched him from Jump Street in UWF, watched Clash 1 live on tv.

  24. With Dave endorsing Bearcat Wright I wonder if we'll get an uptick next year?
  25. On paper this looks to be a strong match. It doesn't fail. I thought they did a good job establishing things in the 1st fall that would carry over into the other 2 falls. We get some fun grappling early. Slater transitions into working the arm. Moves into a key lock. Getting personal with a slamming of the head into the mat. Bock starts after the leg. We see him hook on a Figure 4.I love Bock's Indian Death Lock It goes to the outside and Bock wraps the leg on the ring post. Bock stuns Slater with a whiplash on the top rope for the fall. The 2nd fall Slater is looking for revenge. Here in some revenge spots Slater goes after the leg. A big elbow finishes Bock off. The 3rd fall is quick. Early in the fall Slater is after the back. In a finish that is used a lot in world title matches, Bock reverses a a roll up for the win. This was an excellent match. 4*
