8/20/16 NXT The Revival vs Johnny Gargano/Tomasso Ciampo 4 1/2* When these guys were touring Texas they were stealing the show. Here we got a finish and an even better match. This is Southern Wrestling with a twist. The Revival have great psychology and timing. Ciampo was great as FIP. When the heels fucked up Gargano's leg you knew they were going to wreck it and they did. The Revival are the best team in wrestling, and the babyfaces here gave them something to work with.

8/31/16 CWC Kota Ibushi vs Brian Kendrick 4 1/2* I thought this was just incredible story telling. The announcers were awesome adding to that story. Kendrick as the vet on his last run at glory. Ibushi was the superstar with the damaged neck told a compelling story. Ibushi from a physical standpoint was incredible. Though it was Kendrick who made the bout. I loved Kendrick using the ring corner to set up the neck work. Kendrick's hope spots worked around Ibushi's rebuilt neck was great. Ibushi using revenge spots on the neck was great and added layers to the match. The Burning Hammer had me exploding.Post match was perfection.

8/21/16 J-Cup Kushida vs Kanemura 4 1/2* I think I liked this more than anyone else on the planet. I loved all the interferance spots. I though it added a lot of drama into the match. I thought they told a great story that built. Kushida focus was the arm. While Kanemura was after Kushida's neck. Combine all of that with the interferance spots it just built and was oozing with drama down the stretch.

8/21/16 J-Cup Matt Sydal vs Will Ospreay 4 1/4* First off Sydal's flag is awesome. Sydal's neck work was done well and Will sold it spot on. I enjoyed to how the dives were built to and made them seem important. I thought O'spreay's strikes were on point. Overall a well worked bout.

8/21/16 WWE AJ Styles vs John Cena 4 1/2* This usually isn't my cup of tea. I prefer stuff that builds more methodically or wild brawls. These guys ran nearfalls for 20 out of 23 minutes. This was like a modern day Steamboat/Savage. Cena's character work really put this over the top.

They are all wearing ties.

I'd also watch the Tito -Bock match. Instead of watching an episode of 1986 Superstars you can watch these instead.

Race vs Wahoo This is for the NWA Title. Right off the bat both guys throw their big weapon. In Wahoo's world it's the chop. With Race it's the headbutt. Everything it seemed here had an extra oomph to it. Wahoo is using the head lock to work the match around. I marked big for Wahoo's cross body. Harley using a headbutt into the ribs is so nasty. Wahoo's Butterfly Suplex was great. Loving Wahoo firing up with the big chops. Then pretty much Wahoo does the total banana peel finish. The 2nd fall Race goes back to the ribs. He delivers a nasty knee drop into the ribs. Harley with the front facelock using his weight to work over Wahoo. Now Wahoo's comeback with the chops are so awesome. Race bumps so great for them. Now the 3rd fall is a big old fight. Both guys throwing bombs. Race is a bloody mess. Both guys throwing hands. Just an epic battle. Overall some great shit. 4 1/2*

I'm with Phil. Lothario was awesome. Mephisto's Schlick was great. Though when exchanging punches with Lothario he was exposed . His punches just weren't very good . Still the match was good .

Harley vs Wahoo is holy grail stuff.

I loved the Eyes of Texas piece on Boesch. Seeing his office was cool. It reminded me of Meltzer talking about his visit there in the 89 WO Yearbook. Meltzer talked also about reading Paul's book.

Song vs Atlas Pak Song is a famous character in the history of wrestling. So I was glad to see him here. Though this was all smokes and mirrors. This was a total building of an angle. Though throughout this Tony Atlas got to highlight his athleticism.

Dynamic Duo vs Mil Mascaras/Dos Caras This was a pretty solid tag. The 1st fall was pretty much a baby face shine. The Duo are great at bumping and stooging . I thought Dos Caras brought a ton of energy to the match. The 2nd fall we see Mascaras work some FIP. This was another solid fall. The 3rd fall leads to a double count out. Overall the heels were great in their role. Plus Dos Caras was tremendous. 2 3/4* Prematch we get a super fun Dynamic Duo promo.

Tito vs Bock This is for Tito's Gold Cup. This was a total blast and had so many interesting things. Like in the 1st fall these guys milked a test of strength spot and it turned into an epic moment. I enjoyed Bock and Tito working the headlock spots. Tito's arm work was really gritty. Back to the 1st fall I loved the quick punch spots. All the work seemed snug. The finish of the 1st fall was tremendous. The 2nd fall seeing Bock working the throat and stomach to destroy his breathing. Again this had a stunning finish. The final fall was off the charts. The guys do about the damndest double head knocker spot that I bought as a finish, yet it wasn't. Tito is bleeding and Bock is just going after the cut. The heat here is off the charts. Tito goes over and the crowd explodes. Awesome stuff 4 1/4*

No, go to whoo wrestling . You can get a Vimeo of them both nights for like 13.00. I thought night 2 was a show of the year candidate.
